Hi i'm new to using internet and other services on my sprint phone... i'm just wondering if anyone could tell me what data plans there are and how much they are. I heard of unlimited internet use, so hopefully someone could shed some light for me.. thanks in advance.

since your phone is a 1x and not a evdo phone the only data package is the 15 dollar vision pack whick allows applications, advanced multimedia services such as messaging and email, games and Picture Mail, and Web access. you can add it either by calling *2 or by emailing e-care and asking that it be added and they send a email back that its been added.(the way i did it.no muss no fuss ;) e-care can be accessed at www.sprint.com . i recommend adding it to avoid high data useage biils.

i remember an old friend of mine having "wireless web $5" on his bill.. is that for unlimited data and do they still offer that.. because $15 is kind of expensive if i'm not using all the features of the pictures pack.. i only interested in using operamini for browsing. thanks for the info on the pictures pack though.
one more question.. if i upgrade to the 8400 when it comes out.. what packs are available for that phone?

if you are going to use operamini then the data plan is necessary because you can burn up 15 dollars in data charges in the first day. i used data very little (or so i thought) and had 90 dollar charge by two weeks.there are worse horror stories out there. for the 8400 question , that is a power vision phone. for surfing with operamini it will be much faster. there are three plans available $15 ,$20 and $25 .$15 gets you unlimited Web and Data access, streaming Live News channel including ABC News Now, and streaming radio featuring Sirius Hits. $20 gets you Everything included in the Sprint Power Vision Access Pack in addition to unlimited Sprint PCS Picture and Video Mail and Sprint TVSMPlus with NFL Network, Fox Sports, Fuel, Fuse, and Fashion TV. $25 gets you Everything included in the Sprint Power VisionSM Pack Plus and Sprint TVSM Ultimate featuring a variety of channels including Fox News Channel, The Weather Channel, NBC, Discovery Channel, ESPN, Animal Planet, and more.
