I think as coverage expands we will see more and more stubless or hidden antenna phones and pdas.

Ahhh. Finally, there are Treos that are being designed with ALP. Compatability is finally starting to reach the Palm market.

Once this pup shows up, I'll give the Treo line a new look...

im wondering if this treo has wifi. but i wish it was at least an megapix camera the spec say its not. so its probably like an redesign treo 650.. they probably got the 650 cut the antenna off , fix all the bugs and change the phone case to look like the 700p and renamed the phone

The 750 looks naked without the antenna. The antenna makes it easy to get it out of the palm case.I hope they dont get rid of it all together on the treo line.Im kidding myself they will :irked:

definitely not.

The palm OS has a near difficult if not impossible time of switching it's radio to wifi and back again, hence why there are no Palm Treo's with wifi and to be honest, there won't be until the nexgen OS.

that battery is pretty paltry though.

Cent, you don't mean Access Linux Platfrom, do you?

You never know really. I think Palm has heard enough customers crying about the lack of wifi and might actually include it in the 750. At least one rumor says so. Its not THAT impossible since there was a hack by shadowmite that made wifi possible on the 650... Palm has been hacking the HECK out of Garnet and i wouldnt really ditch that possibility...

I agree Jdoc.the only resion wifi has been left on the curve is that EVDO gets the job done and now that sprint has G4 in the works wifi/dsl speeds on network will be the norm by the end of 2007

I'll reiterate, I'm 99.9% sure it won't have WiFi.

The only upcoming Treo that is rumored to have WiFi is the "Lennon" which is the GSM Windows Mobile phone, not the Nitro. (source (http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=12327))

This is their 'low-entry' Palm device: no 3g, no wifi, smaller battery, lighter.

Yep. I read the Treonauts review and it said it had the 'Access' Platform on it. The only Access platform I know of is Access LINUX.

Easy compatiblity if that's the case. Linux is a pretty universal system to use, so if you know it, it'll make creating apps dead simple; everybody and their brother will be able to put together one.

Like I said, I'll take a look at it once there's a U.S. release of it.

Yeeeaaah, you misread that. Access owns PalmSource thereby they own the PalmOS. What that review said was that it had Access's logo everywhere which is what you would expect. In that review it said it has Palm OS 5.49--the same as the 700P.

ALP is not even close to release and I don't think we'll see it over here for a long time (late 2007?). In fact the latest news on ALP/Palm is not looking too good (http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/29/palms-license-to-next-gen-alp-to-expire-this-december/) though it remains to be seen what will happen.

I also don't think it'll be fully open source, there will be proprierty software in there.

Well, that's alright. I'm not planning to get a new device until Oct. 2007, so I can wait.

I prefer WM over pOS, anyway. Of the two, WM seems to be the more 'forgiving'; plus, if you're familiar with the desktop, you can handle the mobile version. pOS's POS system has no desktop equivalent. And THAT'S why I'm waiting for a stable Linux Mobile to come about - familiarity with it's 'bigger brother'.

Oh, and about the 'not fully open source' issue: granted, that's an issue; but for the most part, from what I read, the routine calls and programming language will be a scaled version of the Linux standard. So, if you work with Linux desktop, you're ahead of the game there. (Which would put it a leg up on both WM AND pOS.) Developement of new 3rd-party stuff will go quickly once that happens, simply because, with the base being Linux, the learning curve is almost straight up.
