I was planning to get a new line of service and I was looking at the good deals on eBay for phones with new activation. the Treo 700P for 80$ with new activation. or Samsung A900 for free.

Now the Question:

On the auction it says you can not change your plan for 30 days and you can not change it to SERO plans...
I called them and they sais al the rebates and discounts are instatnt and 80$ will be billed on your first bill from sprint.

I want to change my plan to the SERO 1250min plan once I get the phone and I want to make sure I do it in the first 14 days that I have the power to change all I want in my account.

Does any one know how do these eBay guys work? like would I get charged for the full price if I change my plan right away to SERO program?

Can some one please shed some light on this matter please..

Thank you all!:wavey:

Pick one:

Cheap/free HIGH END phone with consumer plans.

or

Not so cheap phone with VERY CHEAP AND HIGH VALUED Plan

Impossible or EXTREMELY RARE to get both.

Option #2 is the better choice IMO.

yes if you change your plan before 30 days you pay full price for the phone...
after 30 days all the discounts post and your are free to dow what you want.
as always there are loopholes where some people got away with it. the seller makes commission off of your new line of service over a certain amount. you would not want to screw someone over when they gave you such a great deal on a phone would u?

No Im not planning on screwing anyone but Im just asking the question if it is practical.. like does sprint actualy gona charge me for the phone if I decide to change my plan?

so the rule that I shouldnt change my plan for 30 days is an ethical rule or is it a real life rule?!

sprintnetwork, ebay seller, ebay esn swap...

I am guessing because I am posting via Treo... try those out.

I researched this before I added my 2nd line. In one of the threads I read one poster said he was charged full price another said he got charged nothing.

I hope that helps some.

The seller of the phone on eBay will be paid a big $ commission by Sprint if you keep your line active on the expensive rate plan for 30 days. This is why he doesn't credit you for the phone discount until after that time is up. You will have to pay full price for the phone if you change your plan, no way around it unless the seller just forgets to check that your plan is still active and posts the credits anyway.

You can only have it the way it's set forth in the auction rules which say NO PLAN CHANGES FOR 30 DAYS. I don't get what's so hard for people to understand about this - we get these threads all the time.

heres the deal with the ebay sellers:

Generally they do something like at $59.99 plan for you, but they credit back the 1st month so its $0 to you.

The deal with most is this......... you have to maintain that plan for 30 days, then you can switch to any other publically available plan including making that line and AAP on a family type plan. Most will tell you that you can not migrate that plan to a SERO plan for 6 months. I dunno if each ebay seller tells everyone this, or if its only said if you inquire. You may not even have all the sellers care about SERO. :deal:

Why buy from ebay when you can get just as good of a deal or better through letstalk.com?

I got 2 A900M's for free, no shipping and $200 in mail in rebates. Only condition they have is you keep service with Sprint for 6 months, or you get charged. I called customer service and doubled checked before I switched my plans. I did switched from F&F 550 to SERO 500, and did so within the 1st week. I also had my phone number changed, which I had to call letstalk.com and let them know that, so they could change that in their records.

If you like letstalk.com, let me know, I think I can get you an additional $25off coupon, by referring you.

okay, so you get put on the $59.99 plan, but are you charged for that amount? Cause you said you can switch to any other plan after 30 days. Are you actually charged for the plan they initially put you on?

I got a Treo 700p for $79 from one of these ebay sellers, and switched it to a $10 AAP a month later. Much cheaper than any "lets talk" offer I have seen.

the ebay guy put the line on the $59.99 fair and flex plan. He charged the phoen to my sprint account and applied credits to make it the agreed upon price. He charged me $59.99 for the plan, $6 for TEP and then a credit for all of it (even the TEP) was placed on my bill.

In the end, all I was billed for on that line was the equiptment at the agreed price and sales tax. This particular seller ships directly from sprint warehouse and the phone comes programmed with its number, ready to use.

On day 31, I switched my plan to the $10 AAP with no problems. :deal:

most of the ".com" sellers have terms and conditions that are far greater than sprints or the ebay sellers. wirefly / letstalk have the "6 months" rule that most dont have :td:

Whatever works out best for the OP is what he should go with :)

So...can someone refer me to an ebay seller that is good in this regard? I came across a different auction with many $1 phones with the same restrictions, but it says I can't do it if I have a spending limit. Is it because of the phone price charged in the beginning will go over the limit?

I believe that is the case. I have heard of people making a payment to sprint, basically over paying their bill to get the deal. I am not sure if they allow you to do it all the time or if it was one seller / one customer.

I believe you need a spending limit of like $600 or better to qualify, though it may matter what phone your looking to buy and its retail price.

It's my understanding (golf buddy of mine owns a sprint store) that commissions are scaled, with higher payouts for best credit. Lower credit rankings = less commission for them, so they're less inclined to offer those killer deals to those without top-tier credit since their margin on these deals can be so thin to begin with (not to mention the correlation between creditworthiness and likelihood the customer will pay their bill on time for at least six months...to avoid the retailer having their commissions charged back by Sprint.)
