Also check the first post, as the URL's have kinda changed. Strange thing laurs...FYI... when I go to that link on my pc I can see and watch Gary the rat & Angry beavers..... but I sent that same link to my phone and the only thing that comes up is Test4 ? ( The rat ) I cleared my cookies and refreshed the page too.

Hmmm... that's what last night's page looked like, but it's all showing up fine on both of my phones. Maybe remove the battery and then see if it works? I've got 2 other people confirmed that they can see all that content from their phones--one's using an 8300 and the other a 550.
Edit: Make that 3 people now--another 550. :indiff:

LOL sweet :D Hopefully you won't have to keep doing that, though. 'Cause that would suck. I'm adding one more episode of Angry Beavers, which will take us up to episode 6 from season 1. Then I'll add probably 5 more Gary the Rat episodes (seriously... friggin' hilarious cartoon).
From there I've no clue. I have a lot to choose from, though. And you guys can make requests if you'd like.

On my treo 700 it hates me...I get into laursifer's portal

But then when i select one of those things I get: WML content contains invalid syntax. WT heck is that?!
Yeah... the Treo handles it all differently because these are all written in WML as WAP pages, and Treo's (same goes with 6700, et al) don't read that. So yeah, you're kinda SOL. Though your T809 might be able to grab this stuff.

Okay, latest update: some of you may have seen some Prison Break episodes up yesterday and then noticed they're no longer there. This is because my source was HDTV, which does not (by any means) convert well to 3GP. So I'll look for some regular sources and try to get those up, since that's such a popular show.
I'll be putting up new season episodes soon, too. For example, Weeds, which aired last night... should have that up at some point today.

because the treo handles things differently. try emailing the ringer to your treo.

Okay...
Here is the latest update: I'm downloading Are You Afraid of the Dark? (season 1) right now; however I am not positive that it's in English so I can't make any promises. I do have some Inspector Gadget episodes I can throw up there, and some Weeds episodes are on their way--The first show of the first season pre-aired the other night, so I will have that one up for sure. And then I'll try to get last season's episodes up as well.
The problem I'm running into is that a lot of my source files were HDTV rips, so I have to go back and re-encode them from widescreen to fullscreen, and it's a tedious, lengthy process. If you take a look at the Victoria's Secret fashion show that's up right now, you will see precisely what I mean about HDTV sources not porting over well to 3GP streams--if you have them directly on your phone in the memory card or something, they look just fine. But when you stream it, well, it looks like butt.
Let's see, what else did I wanna cover... Oh! New shows are starting up soon (Prison Break, House, etc.) and I will definitely put up the new episodes as soon as I can get them (approx. 12 hours after air, but if I'm in bed you're gonna have to wait :p). My plan is to chop the shows into ~15min. segments because when you're streaming, you can't fast forward, so if you can't watch an entire hour-long episode in one sitting, you don't have to worry about re-watching everything you've already seen.
Whether or not that's everything I wanted to mention, I'm done for now.

Well, even with QuickTime Pro I can't have it export to fullscreen if the source is widescreen. I'm having to use Adobe Premiere, but there are some other freeware programs out there that will let you fully control your aspect ratios and margins. That I know of, there isn't a single 3GP converter that will let you do it. You have to re-encode in an outside program, then use QuickTime Pro to convert it so that I can stream it--can't use any other program that I've found to convert these things for streaming, which sucks because I have soooo many already-converted shows/cartoons/movies but I can't use them because of the specifications you have to use. And converting from 3GP to 3GP-for-streaming loses some quality, so that bugs me.

as far as quality goes, i dont think theres an issue. i didnt think watching Tv on this a900 would be so awesome, now i have people at work wanting to watch shows with me... i think the outcome so far is phenominal!! heck i dont care what it is...almost i will watch it on the a900 from here on out. haha i've watched more on my phone this week than what i've watched on a real tv all month!!

This is what I am currently using. It's a pain in the rear to set it up, but once you get it working it provides some great stats. Not EXTREMELY detailed, but good enough for what I'm doing now.

And I like Don's method. That's what I do with new episodes of Gilmore Girls and Desperate Housewives, too, because I have to have my girly shows. But every episode always leaves you thinking, "I can't possibly wait A WHOLE WEEK for the next show." So I solve that by using my lover, TiVo, and recording about 5 or so before I actually watch them.
Sure, the logic is a little fuzzy, but it works great for me.

The WAP Portal page is temporarily down... Technically, I had 4 servers that I host all my stuff on. Last night, I got about 30 minutes notice that I have to move everything to one server. So MY portal still works, but the general WAP portal does not. Point your phone to http://su.laursifer.com/portal.php and you'll be able to get to all of my stuff... and I think everything on my portal is hosted on this one server already. Ringtones, wallpapers and streaming, for sure...

However, I can't complain too much because I get all my hosting for free. Well, I used to... I'm moving everything to paid servers now because, as with most things, you get what you pay for. And hopefully I'm paying for more than 30 minutes notice if they need me to move.

It's not too bad, actually... I've been keeping a close eye on the stats, and on the server the streams are on, I get 10GB/month. While there are a lot of hits, we've only used about a gig so far on streams. If I have to up it in the future, I will, 'cause I'm not just doing this for you guys ;) I do this so I don't have to carry a buncha stuff around on my microSD cards (in other words, audio streams are coming soon, too... as soon as I can get them to work).
*Edit: And of course, still for you guys, too :lol: Otherwise I wouldn't take requests

Right now it's being tested. I need feedback on the quality--SPECIFICALLY from people using non-EVDO handsets. I'll be adding more, but I won't be taking requests (at least for now) for streaming music; though I do plan to at least offer a selection of stuff outside my smallminded collection so there's a little something more than NIN to listen to
I'm still not entirely satisfied with the site. I feel like it still needs more, so I'm still brainstorming on what else to add.
Regarding movies, I have A LOT of them I can stream but I'm trying to figure out the best way to do it. Chopping them up into 10-minute segments seems like it will do more harm than good, so I'm on the fence at this point but I've definitely not given up on the idea.
Regarding ringtones you requested that I haven't gotten to: South Park Mexican ringtones are coming later this evening; macpat, check your e-mail because I suck and I need that song again; robot chicken ringtone is coming later this evening; and I think I might have found that Linkin Park/Jay-Z ringtone someone was looking for, so I'm gonna browse back to make sure I have the right thing and if so, that should be up this evening as well. If you requested something and I've not posted it or mentioned it in this paragraph, just post a gentle reminder as I didn't mean to overlook you.
Also, the main WAP portal page that had been down for about a week is back up, too. But I'm changing the first post in this thread to no longer reference that page and just giving the straight URL to "my" portal.

Please request again. Make sure you follow the directions on the first page and try to separate each individual request by a period or something, because your last request all ran together and I wasn't sure which was which. Also, please don't request more than three ringtones at a time (I didn't make this a rule yet, but I'm about to, so you didn't really do anything wrong lol). From start to finish of creating these ringtones and setting up the coding on the WAP pages, it takes about 45 minutes to do just one. So take it easy on me and just request like 3 max at a time, and then you can request more once I've done those 3 or whatever.

I added two shows yesterday... I'm trying to remember which ones... Oh yeah, Animaniacs and Miami Ink (I love that show). I still have a buttload more to add.

If you're still looking for suggestions to stream 4 shows - futurama, scooby doo w/out scrappy doo lol...Possibly 24 or Lost when the new season starts?

Please request again. Make sure you follow the directions on the first page and try to separate each individual request by a period or something, because your last request all ran together and I wasn't sure which was which. Also, please don't request more than three ringtones at a time (I didn't make this a rule yet, but I'm about to, so you didn't really do anything wrong lol). From start to finish of creating these ringtones and setting up the coding on the WAP pages, it takes about 45 minutes to do just one. So take it easy on me and just request like 3 max at a time, and then you can request more once I've done those 3 or whatever.

Lol, it's not a secret. First, I don't use Audacity, I use WavePad because I think it's better, but it's not free like Audacity is. Been a while since I used Audacity, but if that's what you're using I think the same steps are applicable, except Audacity doesn't output to AAC.
In WavePad, I just use the Increase Volume function and increase the volume 200% at a time--my low ringtones are at the original volume of the file, my medium are increased 200% and my high are increased another 200% from there.

All works great! Looks like alot of work. Here's the question... I have looked all over on how to convert a dvd to a format which will work on my a920. I noticed on the dvd it has many files that make up the movie. How do I convert all those files into one a convert it to a file that will work on my phone? This has to be possible.. right? Most importantly I want "Full Metal Jacket", that would be so cool to have on my phone. Thanks

Long ago I wanted to replace the camera icon that comes up when you start the camera with a blank screen... I lost interest after the first directory or so.

Well here's the deal... I moved everything to a new VPS box. I know it went smoothly because the minute it moved I watched people coming in by the dozens to the new server. However if you are a frequent visitor you were probably hitting the old server. As of yesterday that went bye-bye. If you are still getting an error it's because you're trying too often. Sprint's ridiculous caching policies make it difficult to make moves like this. Give it 24 hours if you're getting errors.
There is nothing I can do about this as it's Sprint's crazy cache. Nothing new has been posted in light of all this so you're not missing too much. You will notice that the new server is SLOW. Not sure what I can do about this as it's the service I'm on now. The other VPS box was 60/month and this one is 25. I can upgrade it but it costs almost twice as much. I'm going to ride out the month and see how it goes. I had no idea so many people used this site.

Hey Freeza, I got that Nokia ringtone off of 3gforfree.com. Enjoy. I love the Crank movie ringtone, one of my newest favorites. I found it on a torrent site.

Oh and the streams haven't changed in a while... mostly because I intend to move everything over to another new server on Friday when I get paid. This one I recently moved to is so slow it's ridiculous. The customer service, and service in general, is just junk. You get what you pay for, I guess.
