I asked why we didnt have alot of EVDO phones and I was told it was to be forwarded off on an answer. I did get my question answered today.

Basically it comes down to 3 factors

High Price of EVDO phones and plan options
Low Demand
They want to have an upgraded Network and 3g Services offered everywhere on network before Sprint expands that part of the market.

Tai:

Do you have any approximate dates for the new EVDO phones coming out such as the Sanyo 8400, 9100 and any others that will be introduced, more than likely?

...while I agree that demand often dictates supply, I think they can increase that demand by having more choices and marketing the service more/better.

This is very true. All about Supply & Demand, and I think sprint is doing the right thing with this. EVDO is far from available everywhere. I live in an affiliate market, which doesn't have EVDO yet, actually they have it downtown, but I'm not going to drive downtown everytime I want to go online. I wish I knew how long it's going to be until they expand.

Right, but how are you supposed to create demand if you don't have the supply? Spring really needs more EVDO phones. If a person doesn't have EVDO in their area, they can still use the 1xRTT network.

CS can look at an area and if theres any towers going up they will see it within 3 months of the scehduled date

Hmmm... on the contrary... to generate more demand they should push now. This in turn will provide the $$$ for expansion. Lack of ubiquitous coverage has not stopped Verizon from successfully marketing V-Cast. I am sick and tired of their ads everywhere.

This is why, despite inferior coverage compared to Sprint, Verizon's V-Cast service is already being reviewed as being superior to Sprint's. I recently read a review where the writer said the two services were essentially the same, but somehow, in the end, he concluded V-Cast was better because it had more "appeal." Oh well.

Again, that goes to show you it's all in the marketing... Verizon's brainwashing machinery...

actully buddy, that isnt true. there is a few reviews that will tell you verizons is below sprints by a moderate margin. as well as my own review. i personally believe its because of it being cellular and were PCS.

sprint needs advertising. bottom line!!!

What isn't true? Are you suggesting there are no reviews whatsoever proposing V-Cast is superior to Power Vision? You only have to run a Google search to find them.

If you go back and read my original post, I never said V-Cast was superior, on the contrary. I referred to the fact that despite Sprint's coverage being superior, there are reviews out there stating Verizon's service is better. I did this to illustrate how marketing can influence perception.

Without discounting the reviewer's abilities, I can see how seeing 20 V-Cast ads for each PowerVision ad shown on TV can have some sort of influence in this. If you are told something is better over and over, obviously, this can make you more susceptible to the message. This is also why millions of people have been "conditioned" to think Verizon has the best network.

But without further ado, here's a link to the review I have referred to. What should cause alarm is not whether he's right or not, but the fact that Sprint's marketing does little to change that perception or to capitalize on Power Vision's merits.

Speaking of new PV phones, I got some nice info today that the 900p (for PLUS) is coming out next month. One of our techs knew exactly what the difference was between the current A900 and the "p" version, but of course, he's on vacation until Sunday. I'll post then what the difference is.

Oh, and I have no pictures because it's only going to come in black and look the same. If you own an a900, merely get out your phone and look at it. That's what it will look like. LOL Sorry for the sarcasm, but someone is gonna post "this is useless without pics" and I don't have any because I could snap a shot of a current a900 and that's what it's supposed to look like. :)

Thanks btrav13, that will be interesting. My hope is they'll include the higher capacity battery and a better speakerphone. IMO that would make a much better overall phone. :)

The techs exact words were "I'm not sure, it's software related, you'll have to ask Jeremy when he gets back from vacation, he knows exactly what it is." Hope that helps.

They found this out through the software that's available to technicians for software updates. Deval may be able to see it. Not sure you guys will have info in the warehouse yet, but give it a shot. I'd be curious to know for sure myself.

Not looking like it. He put that software on a regular blade and it messed it up bad. Some of the menu options were blank screens when you went into them.

Dang. Not that I would probably use the themes...but it would be a nice option to have if I wanted to use them.

Exactly, that's the point... in your case, seeing so many Geico ads predisposed you to think that's the best deal. I hope you paid attention to your deductible amounts though, LOL... the problem with Geico seems to be lower premiums but higher deductibles...

A coworker of mine found out the hard way... I believe $1,000.00 out of pocket before Geico would cover anything!!!

You get to choose your deductibles...I actually was able to get lower deductibles through Geico than my previous agent. In my case it was the best deal. I only knew about it through advertising. Point being, more advertising may cost more, but in the long run, it will profit you more...after all, if people dont know your services are out there....how will they become a customer?

Oh, wow... then my coworker must be an idiot because he said he didn't know about his deductible... oooops... another case of not reading their contract!

Anyway, this proves two points: advertising is as effective as word of mouth... though in my case, the bad word of mouth was unjustified...

Now, if only someone at Sprint would get a clue...
