View Full Version : Any offers for PV in a non-PV area?

Here's the deal, I'm currently using a Sanyo 4900. My plan is as follows:

PCS Free & Clear Plan

* $100.00 PCS Free & Clear Plan
* 2000 Anytime Minutes
* N/W at 7 for $5
* Sprint PCS VisionSM Premium Pack
* Unlimited Sprint Mobile to Mobile Calling

For $100, plus I have 3 other phones added to this account, 2 vision, 1 non. Total monthly cost is about $160.

I want to upgrade my phone from the sanyo 4900 to a Samsung A920. In order to do this, I've been told that I have to upgrade from my GF vision to a PV plan. Since standard vision is already included in my plan, upgrading to PV will cost me another $20 a month.

The problem lies in the fact that residing in Louisiana, we have 1 tower in all of LA that has PV, and that's in New Orleans, and I don't live anywhere close. My city probably won't have PV for another few years. That means to upgrade to a Samsung A920 (or any PV phone), my bill will go up $20 for me to use THE OLD VISION. On top of that, I'll probably lose text messaging because my GF vision includes text msging.

In an attempt to get an offer, I've called *2, said "cancel" for Alice, and talked to 2 different representatives and explain the situation. The first practically said "tough," the second offered me $10 off any PV pack. Great, so that would leave me paying an extra $10/mo + a fee for txt msging to keep the SAME PLAN I HAVE NOW.

I just want to buy a Samsung A920, and use the vision services like I pay for now. Is that so hard?

:frustrate :mad:

Has anyone gotten compensation for having to pay for PV service in a non-PV area?

i am in the same boat....upgrading my phone will cost me $20 more per month for the vision and texts and yet I live 250 miles from the nearest PV area...Sprint is really screwing people with this power vision thing. It is required yet cannot be taken advantage of in most places.

you can upgrade to a pv phone phone without getting pv, buy the phone and when you get home call customer service *2 and do a esn swap to the new phone

Wirelessly posted (Da BLADE: Samsung-SPHA900 AU-MIC-A900/2.0 MMP/2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

Buy the phone outright and activate on old account. Tell rep to do this through the P2K system. Cheaper in the long run.

Ask them for basic EVDO package for $10 and with $10 credit it would be free to you.

Well, I finally got in touch with a great guy from retention, and he helped me get what I wanted.

Apparently, Sprint is only offering $10 off any PV plan right now. So, I grabbed the Access pack for $15 - $10. Because text messaging was included in my old plan, he threw in 500txt msgs for free. So, my final cost was $5 a month for PV. To offset the cost, I took a picture pack off of one plan which wasn't being used. I only had to sign a 1 year contract too. Worked out alright I guess.
