View Full Version : Old 2000 Min $85 plan, thinking about getting Power Vision phones

I currently have this plan
-$85/mo for first two lines, 2000 mins shared , both with $0 Sprint Vision Picture Pack (unlimited vision, $5 credit for downloads), Unlimited free SMS $0 ($8 - 8)
-$5/mo 7pm nights&weekends, which was supposed to be only for one line, but it gave all the other lines 9pm n/w (remember this old plan included no n/w at all!)
-$0 Additional phone (3rd) no vision
- $20 Additional phone (4th) no vision
- "Roaming - included in america plan" - No idea how I go this, but I won't complain

What would happen if I were to get 1 or 2 power vision phones (for the lines that have vision? Would I be able to browse the web from the phones at no charge, and still have unilmited SMS for free? What about the monthly credit towards premium downloads?

I've tried to search the forum but I see conflicting information. I've seen posts state "as long as you have that vision code on your account, you will be able to take advantage of power vision speeds". I also see the FAQ entry stating you MUST upgrade to an EVDO plan, or pay $0.02 per power vision KB if you keep the old grandfathered plan.

Anyone know which is correct?

Thanks a lot for the help

There is a good chance that NOW you will have to add PV for the PV phones, and will probably have to incur cost for PV and SMS.

I understand they are cracking down on the loopholes that used to allow you to just do an esn swap and keep your old vision.

I emailed a sprint CSR and got a reply back stating that although any power vision phone is "incompatible" with my vision plan, I would get $10 off any vision pack (e.g. $15 pack for $5) . Unlimited SMS should stay on the plan as well.

that is correct...I had the same old plan, and although I used a 9000 on that old plan for 6 months with no casual rate charges, there are definitely indications that this has become harder to do...in May, retention started offering nice discounts to older loyal vision users to upgrade...I got $10 EVDO with a $5 credit, and kept unlimited SMS, pics and video for free...they also bumped up my loyalty discount to more than offset the additional $5 out of pocket...

that said, there are indications that retention is now cracking down as well with the freebies, so I would take anything that seems reasonable...there will likely come a time that users on old vision plans will have to manually disable evdo on their phones, or risk incurring casual usage charges...

if you want to try to keep your old plan for the timebeing, make sure you get a retention rep that has access to P2K...and whatever you do, don't do anything at all at the store...they only have access to RMS systems and screw things up more often than not when the coding gets even remotely complicated...
