View Full Version : I cheated too....

My Treo 700p was boring me because I guess I am just a "phone whore" like so many of you on SU....Moose, Broose, Michelle, No Name, and my girl Carterism we truly need a group to work thru this problem we have...
Anyway I got the itch to cheat...went to the Sprint Store by playing it off as if I had to pay a bill...bill only $18.00 and not even due until Aug 23,2006...but it was a good excuse to be at the Sprint store right???
Ten minutes later I am walking out the store with a Pink Katana...when I get home my husband shakes his head as he sees the Sprint bag and the look on my face (he doesnt understand). I go to my bedroom and undress my new found love....40 minutes later the excitement has worn off and I have to go make up and promise my Treo 700p I will NEVER cheat again...
So today my new love is in the box and bag ready to be returned. The life of a phone whore is so terrible....
Funny thing is the Treo 700 does everything I need and I am still not happy.... :irked:

Aint that the TRUTH!
The 700 is a GREAT phone/tool/device/ect and we just can't get enough.
I have gone through 4 phones since my 700 and I STILL can't settle down.
My wife keeps telling me that she is glad she's not a phone. Or I'd be replacing her!
I just tell her I would never get rid of my ONE TRUE LOVE! She just rolls her eyes and walks off! WHAT???????
Anyway. Why can't we just be happy w/ our phones?
I am thinking about trying to make a commitment to one phone soon. NAH!!!!!!

Well, many of us know this feeling all too well! I mean, I have been playing the monogamy game with my a900 for nearing 8 months now, and I can't believe it! As I told a friend of mine, even though I am still very happy with my phone, I am just itching to get another, because it's been 'so long'!
It's a constant desire to have the newest and the latest, even if it doesn't always compare to the current one in tow. We want what we can't have until we have it, and then we don't need it so much.
Someone help us!!! LOL

I can concur. In the past 6 months, I have been through five phones:
PM8200 (actually lasted a year)
Treo 600 (lasted two weeks)
Treo 650 (lasted two months)
PPC6700 (lasted a month)
Blade (current phone)
I really like the Blade. So, we will see what happens.

I find it hard to keep the 700p as a phone and not have anything else because sometimes I just want to use a flip. I would be much worse with a SIM card system!

i was up there earlier this month for Taking Back Sunday, and with my a900, even the powervision was awesome compared to regular vision
i wish like hell we had EVDO here, or somewhere around here. myrtle beach, like #3 in vacation spots in the US, doesn't even have powervision
hopefully sprint will get bigger down here soon.
BTW, yeah...sprint is good. b/c if i had cingular or some other SIM card carrier, i wouldn't even have internet i'd be so broke

My brother complained because he would call and I would never be able to find my phone in my purse so I would miss the call. Now with two phones he knows I will pick one of them up. My investment in phone thongs (had to get a couple to try to match clothing) has helped to. My fusic looks cute in it and it is just like having it on a belt clip minus the clip.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought powervision is EVDO. If you can use Power Vision in an area, then you are using an EVDO signal.
But anyways. . . I try to keep phones for as long as possible. I have been with Sprint for a a little over a year now and am doing good. I've only been through a 8200, a900, and now the 6700. The 6700 is great and all, but I think that I will be upgrading next year when more (and better) smartphones come to Sprint. I am going to hold on to this baby at least until EVDO Rev. A comes out. But in order for me to move past the 6700, the new phone better offer more. . . like a newer version of windows mobile, better bluetooth, longer battery life, and a better appearance. Everyone tells me my phone is cool, but still looks like a brick.

In the last year or so I've had a 535,9000,880,A900,6700,960,700p,6600, and a 550 (probably forgot a few). When I bought the 6700 at first I thought I'll save money because I won't buy a new phone because the phone did everything. After 2 months I couldn't stand carrying it around. I look back on it and think I should've kept my 9000 and not tried any other phones but being the phone junkie that I am I had to try them. I will probably get the 8400.:1zhelp:

im getting ready to cheat.. or just flat out run away.. i went from an A600 to the 6700. i love everything the 6700 CAN do, the problem is it wont always ACTUALLY DO IT! so now im looking at my A600's big brother, the A940. i will REALLY miss the keyboard and the ease of text (i HATE texting on a normal phone) but i just need a phone i can pick up and dial a number... im flirting with keeping both phone (for the RevA lock line replacement :) ) but i think id be better off just getting rid of her so i dont have her naggin me every night...

Oh I must agree with that comment. When I am using the 1X regular vision speed on my 6700 I get really pissed off. It reminds me of my dial-up days.
Thats why I would like to know when EVDO/Power Vision will go nationwide (if ever). How hard is it for them to convert all the towers over to EVDO?

Okay,
This is going backwards to make it easier to remember.
a900(2.5 wks)>700p(1 wk)>650(2 wks)>A920(5 days)>9000(1 wk)>Treo 600(1 day)>A920(3 days)>535(2 wks)>I500(3 wks)>I600(3 days)>7400(2 wks)>LG325(1 day)........I can't remember past that!
And that is only in the last couple of months!
I've already got a A940 coming and waiting to see what I trade my Treo 650 for!

I dont know if I feel any better knowing that there are sick people like myself out there.
In the last three years, I have averaged about 12-15 phones per year. Worse still, I have bounced between AT&T Wireless, Cingular, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile (several times each). I have paid more termination fees than I can remember.
I am currently on SERO (2nd time this year however), and hope this plan will compell me to sit still. I have the 700p at the moment. I have had the 6700 three or four times, the 9000 twice (once last week - NAV rocks).
At one point (this year), I even switched to my company's cell phone plan. Free Blackberry 8700c, bill goes straight to the company. I thought for sure that would get me to settle down. Nope, gone.
I have made a large investment in my 700p. Subscribed to a two-year discount plan on mytreo.net, bought PDANet, Verichat (I have paid those guys so much money due to device swapping), memory card, eGrips, TeleNav (prepaid deail), Explorer, LudusP, more.....
I see people around the office carrying their Sprint Treo 650s (people that make a lot of money) and I ask them what is the world would prevent them from getting a 700p? "Oh, this one does what I need."!!!!$#$!@#! It's like trying to understand a drunk French person talking. I cannot comprehend what they are trying to say. I spend way too much time nagging people into getting newer devices.
Whey, ok, thanks for listening. I do feel a little better.
I am also thinking about getting a Blackberry 7130e though. Free tethering (wasted $34 for PDANet, but whatever). True sync (Versamail makes me angry). $40 data plan (which is why I would have to be brain damaged to even think about it, but I still am).
P.S. I get to expense about $60/mo for my cell phone bill, so that helps. I won't carry two devices either (aka company Blackberry and other phone). I also won't consider a GSM PDA device either (again) as the buzzing sound is embarrassing in meetings.

I'm a phone whore too. :)
The last two years were tough on me financially and so I didn't even go NEAR a Sprint store for fear of 'falling off the wagon.' But now, I'm back on my feet and I cannot decide which phone to buy for the life of me!
I'm just glad that there are people out there like me who understand this compulsion. My family sure doesn't! My boyfriend thinks it's amusing though. He's happy with his 840 and has no complaints. But then again, he just looks at it as a tool. Not like me.
Thank goodness his hobby is cycling ... but then again, that's expensive too! I could never understand why he needs to have several different bicycle seats, but ... I just chalk it up to having a lot of different phones!
If I didn't look silly carrying two or three phones, I would! HAHA!
MsRandall, that's okay. We won't judge you for cheating on your 700!

Wow, I thought I was bad...well, I havent gotten bored wit Ms. Treo yet but how about this for whoreism...I dont just load up my phones with hot ringers, games etc. I gotta "PUT RIMS ON DEM". you know, get all the hot accessories, bling it out, hottest BT earpieces, after I get all the accessories ..hottest pgrms...then I'm in trouble...nothing else to do but...RUN...RUN..R--U---N...down to the sprint store! Another prime example of my life..as a gadget whore!
I stopped phone whoring when I purchased my ppc-6600. It was my first pda and when you relize how much things you can do with these devices it kind of takes any non pda phone off of the brain. The only thing that interests me now is pda's. And since they do not come out that often I feel a lot safer now. I made the obvious jump to the 6700 when it was released and will probably hold onto it until we see a 6800. I just cannot see giving up all the features of these devices just to have a dummied down flip phone. Kind of reminds me when people when out and bought the Razr for $500. But a lot of people do not care what is on the inside as long as it looks good on the outside. Looks wear off after a while and then you are stuck with what is left. So hopefully there is something there for when that happens.

Unfortunately, it doesn't keep me from sampling the candy-bar callgirls and flippie hookers from time to time. It's like Chinese food, though. It tastes good for a couple of minutes and then a half hour later, I'm starving. Now that the 700wx is out, my whoring instincts are turned on to the fullest again. No threaded SMS and the smaller screen is the deal breaker for me. Don't get me wrong, I like the wx, it was cool to see WM on a treo for the first time. For me, the 700p is perfect.

Hey guys, I've been a member for a longg time, but just lurk around and read up....but I'm in the same boat. I've been with Sprint since like '98 or '99 and started out with the flip Touchpoint (great phone I have to say, I couldn't break the thing!).
Been through quite a few, and can't even remeber them all...The ones I do remember,
-The flip Touchpoint (the strongest friggin phone EVER)
- 2 Candy bar Touchpoints (2200's i think)
- Moto Timeport- (the three color led screen was quite cool for me back then)
- The skinny Sanyo candybar, 6000 and 6200
- A few of the Sanyo early color screens (5000, 5150, 5300)
- Sanyos (4500, 8100, 8200, 8300)
- Samsung a800 (great phone, worked real well for me)
- Samsung a900 (current phone for wayyyy too long, activated Dec 21st, 2005)
I see there's a lot of Treo 700p users here, but Im not sure what to get, the P or the WX??????????????????????????????
Any advice would be greatly helpful. I know I won't need the sdio for the wifi, but the WM looks pretty cool. I've never had a smartphone, so I do think its time.
What do you guys suggest?????
Thanks in advance for any input

HAHA the 700WPX huh??? I am thinking of getting them both, playing and returning one, but I'm scared if I do, I'm going to be stuck with two phones for a LONG time. I think I'm just going to have to keep reading up on the forums and see which everyone likes.
I've never had a decision this hard in a phone, I'm use to just going and picking it up.

Pick up the 6800. If you do, you can 'leak' the information to the rest of us...
SprintUsers.com was created in January 2002 as a resource for users of Sprint PCS products and services to learn about and share information. We have cll phone reviews, Cellular Accessories, Downloads, PDA reviews, Ringtones, all of the latest Sprint PCS news and information, an area where you can find help in creating a ring tone or custom image for you phone, and so much more. The most popular section is the message board where visitors can read and write messages, ask questions, and get advice about their cellular phone from other users.
