I found a thread from a forum member here explaing the different way that sprint uses to authenticate Power Vision, Vision, and tethering. Can't seem to find it anymore.

Doesn't anyone know how its done? Basically I think regular vision uses usersname@sprintpcs.com/password while power vison uses ESN@sprintpcs.com/password and tethering uses useranme@modem.sprintpcs.com/password. Am I close? thanks

Two out of three ain't bad, and partial credit on the other one. You're hired.
Vision= username@sprintpcs.com, Power Vision also uses username@sprintpcs.com, but adds an extra level of authentication to make sure the active ESN is mated with the user name. PAM (phone as modem) uses both ESN validation plus appends the user name with @modem.sprintpcs.com. All three use a randomly generated 6 character password which can be customized at the Sprint website.
