View Full Version : No Voicemail Notification

In the past year or so, it has become quite annoying that if you receive more than one voicemail message that you will not receive a notification. Thus, when I check my voicemail I find out at times, I have 4 or 5 messages but only ONE notification will pop up.

Does anyone know if Sprint is working to fix this problem on their network?

The handset will only notify you when the first new message arrives, it's assuming if you know theres one, you should check it! Once it's cleared, any new messages will flag notification.

But that is not a good practice. If I have 10 messages in my voicemail, I need to be notified each time.

Why would you need that? If it's that important that you get notified each and every time something happens...errr.... don't leave the house?

I need that because if I see the first missed call and voicemail notification, I may not have time to check it again. However, later in the day, if I have another missed call and a new voicemail message, then how will I know if I have one or two messages?

I don't think what I am asking is abnormal. It is a feature that came with Cingular when I was with them.

The voicemail icon stays up when you have messages. When you go in the system, it tells you how many you have.

So are you saying that on Cingular you had as many icons on the screen as you did messages?

They wouldn't put up extra icons but under messages, they would have the number of voicemail messages in parentheses. Also, if you got a new VM after receiving the initial one, it would flash on the screen: New Voicemail and the time it was left.

That sounds to me more like a phone detail than a system detail. My phone, for example, will tell me when the last voicemail was left.

I totally agree with the OP. This thing with Sprint is horrible! I just found out that I had 16 messages! I knew that there was one the other day but I didn't care to listen because I knew what the message would be. No biggie, I figured I'll delete it when more voicemails get left. Well, my phone was off the last two days. Other than the envelope icon I had no idea there were more voicemails (I assumed it was just that one left over from the other day). If I was with Cingular the phone would have alerted me that there were 16 and it was time to check.

Is this really a Sprint thing or is it a phone thing? If its a phone problem, tell me which one to buy. This A900 sucks anyway.

As for the beeping: Opening and closing the phone solves that problem. By doing so you turn off the alert. I think its a great feature that I would LOVE to have back.
