I've been wanting a Sanyo slim-phone ever since the RAZR came out. It's finally here, but my 2yr contract won't expire till January.

Without going on Ebay, starting a new phone line, or haggling w/ retentions, where's the cheapest place to get the Katana right now?

Right now my best bet seems like the Sprint Store-- $280 - $75 ( w/2 yr contract) = $205 + tax + activation (?)

Read on here that costco might have katanas tuesday so might check there this week too.

And no, I don't want another brand phone-- or any other Sanyo model except the Katana. I don't want a Samsung. Went through 3 Samsungs --8500 and 2 Uproars-- and will never go back--no matter how slick their phones may look on paper. And I don't want the fluff of that LG ipod looking phone.

looks like there's another $50 off with this rebate (http://www.sprintpcs.com/pages/m0023.pdf)

so, in my situation this brings my price to $155 after rebate, $75 instant discount, and new 2yr agreement. tempting.

call retentions and say you want a small phone like the razr, and cingular has offered you one for free if you switch...and tell them that you really really love your sprint service and dont want to switch, but you want a small phone, is there anything they can do for you?

see what they can do for you then..

With my contract not expiring for another 5 months, I doubt I'd get anything from retentions.

And besides, I'd rather go through more conventional channels to get the Katana on the cheap-- sales, rebates, promos, etc.

Bought one yesterday at Best Buy for $99.99. (Out the door; no rebates!) The Katana replaces a 24+ month old phone which would have qualified for the $150 rebate. BB has "Upgrade prices" clearly marked for each Sprint phone they carry. Oddly, the cheaper models had a higher upgrade price. (for example, $149.99 for LG 225)
