Well, I decided to get the blue katana yesterday. I one thing i really like about this phone is the design and the metalic blue. Picture quality sucks, and yes i know its VGA but still, i guess im just used to having a mpx picture phone, and the ringtones is horrible! when i had the 8200 it sounded better than the katana. I guess i was disappointed in the quailty. Anyway, the phone is too basic for me, after having the samsung 900 series, treo and 6700, i realized i need one of them back. I am going to return my katana tomorrow once i get my 940 in the mail. It was nice while it lasted.

I remember you having a 940 before. Why would you go from a high end phone to low end phone anyway? Everyone knew before hand that it was a thin 8200.

I have the Blue one and I am very happy with it. I guess I am an old F&$t because I can care less if the phone can run EVDO or do MP3's. I have a sirius radio in my work vehicle and it sounds better than any MP3 player. If I do anything with the phone on the internet it is to check a score or the weather.

[/I]I checked out the highly-anticipated Sanyo Katana at the Sprint store a couple of weeks ago.
Overrated.
No power-vision.
No EV-DO
I could really care less about bluetooth, though. LOL
It's not even a video phone.
I wanted to get something to replace my MM7500, but I think I'll hold on to it a while longer.
If Sanyo comes out with an updated version of the Katana with a megapixel video camera and not that VGA garbage, I might consider it. The creator of the Motorola RAZR still have nothing to worry about. LOL

You could have saved yourself a trip to the store. All the things you state above are well known and well publicized on this site, on sanyo.com, and on sprintpcs.com. For the record, EV-DO and PowerVision are the same thing with PowerVision being Sprint's name for EV-DO.

FWIW, the Bluetooth implementation on the Katana is quite good. I was able to beam my entire address book from my Palm to the Katana in one step. When I tried this with the A900/A920, it would choke if I tried to send more than 5 contacts at a time. Like any thin phone, there are compromises to fit a usable device in a thin package. For the A900, the sacrifices included horrible bluetooth, even more horrible T9 implementation, pitifully slow games, the display lag when you are using menus and the white screen of death on occasion. On the Katana, you have no EVDO, a VGA camera and no multimedia but the battery life is good and applications and menus run quite responsively. They are both decent phones, though, and depending on what you want, you could easily be happy with either one.

with all that i have said, I have decided to keep my phone. Although it is more simple than the other phones that i have previoulsy owned, its the only one that i am happy with. The battery life is good and altho it doesn't have evdo the internet is suprising fast. I realized that i really have no need for a camcorder on my phone, and yes it would be great to have a megapixel camera, but i'm happy with it. No complaints here.
