If you log into Sprint.com and go to the Online Tools feature, you can send a text message. I never bothered to use this function because I didn't know if it was free or not, and I wasn't going to call Sprint and possibly mess up a good thing. A friend of mine said that it's free. I believe he has text messaging in his plan. I don't. Can anyone confirm this?

I'm sure it's free to send it from the website but whoever recieves that text and doesn't have a texting plan will get charged 10 cents for the message.

Interesting way to abuse/stalk/harrass someone. Just use the site to randomly send them text massages at a dime a pop? Seems like there is a problem with this system (or it's not billed).
What about messages that come through as picturemail? Is this also billed a dime each?

Yeah...I've been irritated about this for a while now. I'll get texts from people and on the bill it's billed as a casual text. I believe you can call them to arrange for a technician to arrange for your phone to not be able to receive. I started to do it, but I ended not seeing it to be that big of a deal even though I don't like it.
Can anyone confirm whether the sender gets charged or not? I'm only inquiring based on if the sender doesn't have texting in their plan.

I believe that means I should be able to receive via Picture Mail since I have SERO. I have to check to confirm, but I believe free Picture Mail is one of the features of that plan. How would I access a text via Picture Mail? I've never used it before.

They are free to the sender, because it's annonymous. However, if you log in under your account, while still free, it identifies the sender. It is billed to the recipient as a normal message would be. If anyone wants to block this feature (from recieving), go to the text messaging preferences on their manage page and check the box to block web messages.

Picture Mail messages are alerts, which don't bill, similar to an alert if you have a new AIM message. This is in reference to the message that says "You have a new picture mail."

Have you guys try sending text messages to land lines? Its pretty cool. Whatever you type gets read by a computer voice. First it lets the person who picks up the phone know they have a text message from phone number (xxx) xxx-xxxx and then it reads it and gives the option for them to respond back w/ voice or text. If they respond back using voice you have to retrieve the message like voicemail but at a different number, if they wanna respond by text they have the option of a few message to respond back with.

also, txt messaging and vision are separate right? some csr told my gf, that vision includes like 100 free txt msgs, but i dont think that's the case.

Yes you will get charged if you don't have a text plan. It's 10 cents sent and recieved.
I believe they are seperate but I did get offered the 100 free text messages too yesterday when I switched to power vision. I needed more so I declined that offer.

sorry for poppin up this old thread but I continually get "this recipient is not accepting web messages" while trying to send a text via the website under my pcs wireless. This has actually been a problem for 8 months or so but not a big deal, just curious what's going on. I have done it successfully in the past with my same phone, same plan and to the same people who at one time were able to receive them are now denied via the website. Finally took the time to ask, what's up with that? Sprint make some changes? I did a basic search and while I didn't dig too much, didn't find much either.

no ma'am, one is my boss/best friend and the other is also one of my best friends, I just tried to text her tonight as texting via the a900 is a pain in the bootie on the phone itself and had the same problem. Just very strange since nothing at all has changed (that I know about) from the time it worked to the time when it stopped. Curious to see what sprint says, thanks for the reply!
