Currently I am on my own account, and my wife is still under her mother. We (wife and I) would like to be on the same account and we were wondering about our options and the best way to do this.

I know we'll have to transfer liabilities, but what about fees and everything. What are the family plan options? Does it cost $20 to add a line/phone (hers) to my plan?
Basically, I just want the best way to do this that will be the cheapest as well.

Also, will her mom have to sign anything or come in? She's in another state so how would that work?
Oh, and I did call about this and spoke to two different people and they both said different things...so I'm just confused now.

Well to the best of my knowledge, your wife's mother would have to sign a transfer of liabilty into your name. At that point you would change your plan to a family share plan(which start at 59.99 and include 550 anytime minutes).

Hm...
So how would we do it when she's 1500 miles away? ...just the transfer of liability

You should both be able to go into your respective Sprint stores and make it happen.
Have her go in and explain what she wants done.
It will just require a little bit of faxing back and forth and a Sprint rep willing to help. :)

ok, and then I have a retention offer as well....but don't you do that via the phone w/ them?

so best way then is transfer of liability, then call and do it on the phone??

also, whats the best offer and what can happen? does a family shared plan ($75 for 1500AT) have a AAP fee of $20 or $10?

Your retention offer is on the line you currently have so it would (probably) not apply to when you add a line and change to a family plan.
They will see it as we were offering you X to stay with us but you already decided to stay with us and add a line so why do we need to retain you?
Unless you say that another company is offering X deal and you were going to leave to them and add a line.
Do a little research on what other companies are offering.
But think about if you really need to go through all that since you are going to have them jump through hoops to get all this done in the first place.
And all the family plan pricing includes two phones, nights at 7pm, UL M2M and whatever line is secondary gets all add-on features at half-price.

Thank you semp.
I told planned ahead however, saying that my wife and I were going to switch and that we needed a plan together.

If my wife transfers liabilities to my account, does that mean she'd have to sign a new contract (and me for that matter)? Mine expires 8/07, and hers is 11/06....so if she transfers onto mine in 10/06, will it still expire on 11/06? Meaning I could still get the rentention offer?

Same account, new line of service, new 2 year contract for that number.
If you do two seperate plans then you would still qualify for a retention offer on your line but if you want to put both lines on a family plan then it will start your contract over on both lines so you'll just have to call up retentions and see what they are willing to offer.
And you should probably call up and tell them what you are wanting to do now and make sure to check what other carriers are offering so you can have counter points.
Your mother-in-law will have to do the transfer of liability with you since the accounts are in ya'lls names.
If she transfers the line to you on 10/06 then that line will be up on 10/08.
Make sense?
And is it that serious that your wife keep that number?
You could always go ahead and set her up with a new number on your account and then just forward calls from the first number or change the voicemail message to say something like: Hi, this is Ms. X, please call Me at My new number 555-555-5555 or leave a message and I will get back to you.
Then just keep that line till the contract runs out since it's up in November anyways.
