Okay, so I got an a900 free from retentions and they charged me for the phone, credited my account for $350, and then sent me the phone. A week later, I sent it back for a replacement in the 14 days, and they said that they had to apply another credit to compensate for the second phone until they got the first one back. So, my accoutn was credited for another $350. I got the new phone, sent back the old one, and a few days later, checked with UPS to make sure Sprint got it. Sprint supposedly got it about 2 weeks ago, almost 3. Meanwhile, my bill had arrived, and it didn't charge me anything. It only said I had a $270 credit on my account, so I didn't owe anything. So, of course, I didn't pay anything this past month. I looked on the website a few days later, and my account still has a $270 credit plus a $28 credit that some CS rep gave me for wasting my time one day, so my account balance is at -$300, even 3 weeks after all the phone stuff had been cleared up. I would like to know why this is and if it's going to disappear when I get my bill, or if I just got lucky and they forgot to remove the credit after they got the phone back, but if that's the case, I don't want to call in and have them realize their mistake and remove the credit then. Any explanations?

It might change at the end of this billing cycle... if not, you probably got lucky

I too received a A900 for nothing which required a $79.99 hard credit to be applied. It was.......I returned the phone during the trial period with a return kit to the warehouse, meanwhile Sprint charged my account for the cost of the phone, activation fee and taxes. Sprint says it takes about 10 business days for a returned phone credit to be applied to the account which will counter act the current charges. I tried to light a fire under them to speed it up (the phone credit) and they said it would still take 10 days. LOL
A rep told me most likely the $79.99 credit will be left alone. Sprint has to contact you if they decide to remove a credit. IMO I woudn't trust them to do so, just monitor the account using *4 it is updated every day (I think) or the web site. If it were me I would leave the account alone and see what happens.

Yeah, that's what I'm going to do, I think. My bill cycles in like 3 days, anyway, so it's only a matter of time before something happens.

I returned a phone to Sprint after receiving a free A920. I took the old phone to UPS hub which is only a few minutes from my house this was a Friday. By Tuesday of the next week a credit was applied to my account that I could see online.
I'm in Nashville and the warehouse is in Lousville, about a 4 hour drive, I tracked it, and it left the same night and arrived at the warehouse by 8am the next morning.
Was credited a few days later, so I don't feel you should have to wait longer than a week no matter where you live in relation to the warehouse you ship to.
Who knows, my account is marked as VIP or some such thing, so when I call or do any business with Sprint it's very quick and usually correct.
I've been with them since 99 and have actually brought many people in to the Sprint retail store who have signed up and bought phones. I always told them no credits for me just help me with what I want when I need it and they have honored that.

:) just keep checking it. When the store fried my 8200 when i took it just to get vision updated cause it was acting up. The store wouldn't replace it even though the phone worked fine until I took it in there for updating, (apparently a refurb phone only has a 6 month warranty and I was about 2-4 weeks out of the warranty) I kept calling *2 and talking to reps because the store wouldn't replace it due to it being a refurb but the phone worked until the techs got a hold of it and it got fried. I finally got a supervisor on *2 who credited me the amount it would of cost me for an 8200 since I was eligible for the 150 rebate. so my account got credited 80.00 and then some credits for vision issues. One day I went to check my bill online and my credit jumped 100 up to 200. and something dollars that just appeared and it stayed there until i worked off the credit I didn;t pay a bill from about august till march or april it was a good 6-8 months that I didn't owe and worked off the credit. I had a tech who noticed it when I called in on a vision issue and he just let it be since it had already been issued and he i guess couldnt' remove it. but just keep checking the bill it could be a goof or it could stay like mine did. Hope this makes sense since i kinda rambled a little bit :) :fingers:

Well...I checked it today (my bill cycled yesterday), and the official detailed bill isn't out yet, but the status thing shows I owe $191 and some change. That's horribly wrong. I knew I was eventually going to get hit with two months of charges for the month I didn't pay and for the current month that I was on, but even with two months of charges, they've overcharged me like $60. I guess a call is in order, and it might be a perfect opportunity to get my hands on the 6700 that I've been wanting, but can't afford.

It seems like with billing we screw this up more than we get it right....or maybe it's just that a lot of us here have the problem. I'm beginning to think the hamster turning the wheel in our billing system is dead. :(

Haha...thanks, Wayne. And yeah, you're right btrav. This isn't the first time it's happened to me, and this definitely isn't the first time it's happened to Sprint.
If I can get away with somehow using this to my advantage, I'll be happy. I'm sure I'll get the bill straightend out, but that 6700 is going to be a challenge.

Good luck. And yes, I'd say this is as good a time as any to speak with them retentions reps to try and get a better discount on a new 6700. I know that's what I would be doing if I encounter another billing problem like this.
