I was given this phone about a month ago. The person who gave it to me got it from someone else. Anyway, when I tried to have it activated I was tol d I had to have it released by the previous account holder, and then I was routed to the fraud department. Is there anyway to reset the ESN and make this a clear phone?I dont know the name or how to find out who it is.

Not really. If the account is still active there is NO way to clear the ESN unless you can track down the owner. If the account is not active and there is just an unpaid balance on it, you have two options, first you could pay the balance off, second you could wait 3 months and the account will become a washout balance and the phone will be free and you can do an esn swap
