I've noticed a lot of people calling to activate Treo 700s being given out by CSS/Retentions. Has anybody here received one?

What the hell? When I called retentions I was trying to get a 2nd line [TREO 700P] on my account, they told me no :irked:

Retentions quoted me $349 for the 700 and $299 for the ppc7600. I told them I wanted to get the treo and at the last min he said they were out of stock. He said that he would notate my account that he quoted me that. Will I have any trouble getting SERO switched from an A900 to the 700? Do they ever mess with your plan if you are still in the first month? For instance if they see that you have discounts on a SERO plan that shouldn't have discounts?

I had seen a lot of folks at treocrental.com had gotten deals from retentions. So I called. After two calls this is what I got:

Treo 700p 249.99 free next day air shipping and activation.
family plan with 1500 minute (basic sprint plan) with 35% total discounts (20 loyalty and 15% military)
Power vision for 10 month
5 dollar recurring e-bill credit.

brings monthy total to around 65 a month.

I needed the family minutes as I shared with my wife.

So far I love the treo!!

I got the treo for 101

Paid 79.99 for a fusic! returned it! Got credit of 179

They sold me the treo for 200 bucks.....

so I paid them 21 bucks for the upgrade.

:P
NOW I'm lost in doing things for the treo! And researching all the possible things one can do with it. :) Enjoy guys

Retentions will probably overlook the discounts on the plan. Considering that the whole purpose of the CSS/Retention department is to keep you from leaving Sprint, they're probably not going to call you out about discount codes in the plan detail.

interesting how it is people with one post making these statements. there are discussions at treocentral with people who thought they paid $150 who really paid $300 due to misunderstanding the $150 two year credit was already applied and they are not eligible for rebates.

no offense but you don't understand hwo sprint credits accounts. the credits appear first. there will be a back charge of $150 on the fusic. so you think you paid $200 but you paid $350. You will see this after about 30 days.

I can confirm that retentions can give out the Treo 700p, I got one from them... It was at the end of a long process that went kinda like this:

Called wanting a better phone because of signal issues

Bought LG LX350 for $30
Even worse sig issues with it

Upgraded to A900 for $80 (also recieved the $30 back from the 350)
Battery sucked ass in it

Exchanged it for a Fusic
Great little phone but orb and several other site on vision caused the phone to reset

So call talked to retentions one more time
Told them I wanted
BT
Abilty to play mp3's
good battery life

He first offered the samsung a920 but then saw the specs show it to only have 30 min more battery talk time than the a900
So he put me on hold a min and came back asked if i was wanting a filp phone or if I wouldn't mind something else..... I told him it didn't matter to me. so he offered the Treo 700p said that it would be at no cost. I said ok :headbang2 So he ordered it for me. and i got it last monday :)

Lot of time on the phone with sprint but I think it was worth it..... also this whole process has resulted in about $2000 in charges and credits to my account... I can't wait to see the bill with all this stuff on it

Satanicide explained his situation in detail on another thread. Apparently Sprint messed with his account several times which led the rep to give him the phone for free for his troubles.

I just wanted to know how and what you said to get the phone upgrade. 3 weeks from your last phone...wow, what a great situation. Did they say anything about how you just recently upgraded? I upgraded to my phone a month ago but would like a 6700 but don't know what method to take when speaking with retentions. Before my upgrade last month, I never tried an upgrade with Sprint before. I had my old phone before that since I signed with Sprint more than a year ago. Thankfully I finally called in last month, I had so many problems with my first phone but never knew I could upgrade so easily...

Ill clear up some info here

A900 can be sold for 79.99 and a credit applied to cover this
A920 74.99 a credit to cover this
tre650 99.99 credit to cover this

Nothing but manual credits on Treo700 or PPC or Fusic and most reps are limited to 200.00 off the retail price anything over that goes to a Supervisor for credit and approval or rejection

07-05-2006, 01:58 AM
I called retentions a few days ago wanting to trade my a900 in for a 700p. Best offer the rep gave me is $300. I can't afford that so i turned it down. Is there a better way to get them to lower the price? I'm willing to pay up to $100

Tai
07-05-2006, 02:01 AM
not likely real soon treo700p is a new phone and isnt up for retention usually takes 2-3 months. However I wouldnt call back for a month because that last offer is likely in the acct reps look for previous offers for Shoppers (well there supposed too)

ophdeheezy
07-05-2006, 02:22 AM
That's exactly what the rep did. She spoke out loud as she noted it in my account in a very detailed manner.

Tai, If I were to trade my a900 for a fusic or anyother phone, would they remove the note? After the trade, would you get another 30 days to exchange to phone?

Tai
07-05-2006, 02:34 AM
if you could convince a rep sure. Note would be removed i 5 days lapse as a offer. Sometimes longer. general rule wait some time before calling back.

THIS JUST IN....YES VIRGINIA THERE IS A SANTA CLAUS...
I just called retentions and a very nice man answered and took care of me real good. I told them I was shopping around and with my contract up in a couple of months I wanted to know if he could match some of the other offers. I mentioned the "Q" phone from Verizon and the 700w. I gave them the cheapest prices I could find for them and his response was " I'm sure can take care of this for you"

He basically told me " So what phone are you intersted in?" I told him the 700p. After a short pause he came back and asked me if I wanted it "FREE". I told him i wasn't expecting that and I'd be willing to pay something comparable. He confidently advised me he could get it to me for free, he just had to run it by his Supervisor.

To make a long story less long. I will receive it in 3-5 days. Free..

Sprint has made me a believer. Unfortunately the truth will be in the billing. If this works, I'm going to see what I can do on the other line..

I thought the way the large credit worked was b/c your account is a month behind. So they credit the account the first month of purchase and then charge you in the second month?

from what i know, they say those are temporary credits needed to place the order of the phone you want and will disappear after 10days. so, they charge you, but you have the credits so it cancels out...

So I just called retentions...on my third attempt I got the Treo 700p for $150! YAY! I am so excited. Basically I am having a lot of signal problems in my apartment with my new a920 (got it 13 days ago)...I didn't have any signal problems prior to upgrading...I love it but I am sure I will love the 700p more (will I?)!

Originally I was offered 299.99 on my first try, however it was a regular rep, not a business rep..I have this new business account (switched over for the 15% corp discount from my job)...so she said she would have to transfer me to business for them to finalize the deal. I requested the rep to notate my account, being that I was going to take the deal.

So I get switched to a business rep and she tells me the previous rep was incorrect and they could not offer me the 700p for that price. She offered me $499.99. I laughed and thanked her for her time and hung up.

So I called back and I explained exactly what happened to the next rep, talked in several circles, had to explain the ENTIRE story over again...she checked with her manager and offered me the 700p for $300 and I took it.

I asked if my a920 would be credited toward the 700p. She asked how much I paid (I paid $74.99) but I said I didn't know how much I paid.

For whatever reason she wasn't able to bring up how much I paid so she assumed I was a new customer (b/c of the new business account) so she credited my account $150 and charged me $150 for the 700p.

It should arrive in 3-5 (hopefully 1-2) business days!

SL
07-06-2006, 10:18 PM
^^ Well, technically you got your new Treo for $150 + $74.99 (which is what you paid for your a920) = $225. Still not bad but definitely not $150. :)

satanicide
07-07-2006, 03:07 AM
I get much better service in my aparment with my Treo than i did on the 920. I can actually walk about 10 feet into my apartment before i drop my call...

SL
07-07-2006, 03:48 AM
Anyone who's had both a Treo (650 in particular) and a PPC-6700, can you compare the reception? Ease of use and compatibility to everyday uses and Windows-based PC's? I'm trying to develop some comparisons.

Frankie G
07-07-2006, 03:12 PM
Here is what I did to get the phone at $299.99 flat rate

I explained my new phone has been having lots of problems. Went into extreme detail making up tons of noted problems the a920 has. Then I said I am interested in exchanging it for a treo 700p. I explained that I saw how expensive Sprints were, so I called Verizon. Then I let the rep talk...he made a high crappy offer...

Then I said well I called Verizon and they offered the phone to me for $499.99 with a $100 instant rebate w/ select plans...bringing it to $399.99...then a New Customer mail in rebate of $50.00...bringing it down to $349.99...then a new customer Voice and Data mail in rebate of $100.00...bringing the cost down to a total of $249.99...Free fed ex 2 day shipping.

That is the absolute truth also...called Verizon and that is what they offered me. So the rep came back with the $299.99 offer and I took it...exchanged my phone...and got credited $150 and charged $150 for the treo 700p.

Good job Frankie, now lets see if they send you a 900 with it.

When I called sprint about the 900 they sent me, they had no idea what I was talking about. They told me to call business and see if they knew why. business didnt know. I went to s sprint store and the girl there just laughed. said corporate is a bunch of idiots and that i should just sell the phone. im going to sit on it for a couple of months and see how long it takes before it hits my account, then ill go from there.

Make sure you check what they adjust to your account, I kept screen shots of all the changes and at the end I was being charged 200 bucks more than I was supposed to pay, it cause my account to be over the 200 dollar limit and it got disconnected. I had to sort everything out with retentions..... they told me I wasn't going to get any more credit and I told them that my payment that was due with all credits and exchanges done was between 90 and 100 bucks.... and the guy didn't wanna give me anymore credit, so I just said you know what this is obsurd, I was suppose to get a better deal and I didn't get any good deal from anyone, why don't you just disconnect my service I'm better off without them, and he just said, ummm hold on a minute let me see what I can do, a few minutes later ok your account is at 80 bucks now and I asked him I don't want any temporary credits, I want this taken care off, he said don't worry sir this is already taken care off.... I saw my account on sprint and it's now back to the way it is. MAKE SURE ALL ADJUSTMENTS ARE TAKEN CARE OFF !!!! CHECK YOUR ONLINE STATEMENTS!

Frankie G

I also recommend calling Sprint and confirming that all your loyalties/credits/retentions are as you understand them to be! I have two lines...I call Sprint and simply ask them to explain to me both my lines and to confirm all the loyalties/credits/retentions and expiration dates are correct.

I check frequently to make sure it is all correct by looking online, calling and emailing ecare. A few hours after I secure a deal or perk, I call back to insure it's accurately reflected on my account. Same with keeping an email trail through ecare.

Good idea's, thats my experience too, Sprint is notorious for pulling the old switcharo when it comes to promising one thing and another being on the actual account. They are really sneaky, it happens way too often for it to be anything other than the training they receive. ;)

What if you are a new customer trying to get the 700p and SERO?

I cannot see how you can get the phone for less than $450 (which is what the telesales people tell me- they won't price match) unless you get SERO online (but then you have to fight for freebies after the fact- which I really want).

Is there ANY way to get a $299 Treo 700p AND SERO AND freebies for a new Sprint customer by speaking to a rep? Nobody in telesales even knows about SERO.

I wish retentions could sign people up for new plans- they seem to be the only ones who know about the offer (which is ironic since it is supposedly for NEW customers only!)

Great little phone but orb and several other site on vision caused the phone to reset
.......
Lot of time on the phone with sprint but I think it was worth it..... also this whole process has resulted in about $2000 in charges and credits to my account... I can't wait to see the bill with all this stuff on it

I can confirm that it is posters with one or two postings like yourself who think they got a free treo 700p. there was a guy at slickdeals and it turned out his net cost was $450 by the time his actual bill came in.

my guess from the way you describe your transaction is you paid $350.

It should arrive in 3-5 (hopefully 1-2) business days!

another one who doesnt understnad how sprint billing works. you were offered the treo fo $300. the extra $150 will be re-added. you will have paid $300 (at least)

Okay, so with all the adds, credits, new phones, etc.., do you ever really get a phone free or do they end up charging you some way or another? I'd love to try to go through retentions and end up with an a900, (I'd love to land a treo but I'd need one for both lines and, well, I believe in miracles but even that's a little steep.) but don't want it to bite me in the back side. I don't mind paying a little for the phone but if it can be had for free......

Just got a treo650 for free from retentions(!). Was told it should arrive in three days, and my online statement reflects a $107 credit. Should I call to confirm that my treo is really coming?

It wouldn't hurt to doublecheck with them just to make sure, a tracking number would be nice too. You can't beat getting it for free! :)

They don't mind giving out free phones cause they got you by the short and curly's for the next two years. You know they will recoup their money by charging you for minutes you never used every month.

Best offer I got last night was a 700p for $199 and an A900 for the second line for $49. Maybe I should have jumped all over that deal. Got a little greedy maybe. The rep I did talk to said that to get SERO you had to open a new line of service. I didn't push the issue. I had all the other perks lined up too, man, I really should have moved on that deal.

Check those bills closely every month people and if there are any items you question, call or "write" immediately! ;)

Of my 8 lines, I've recently secured 8 brand new treos. 3 650's without camera, 2 with camera, and 3 treo 700p's. I activated them all briefly for about an hour and went back to origional phones so I could mark them as mine before I went on to store them in the closet, actually using a 650 now to tether. I normally use a 6700. I love to get away with not paying for high speed data LOL

See, that cracks me up. I was told about 4 months ago that you can't have more than 5 phones per plan and then it had to be with separate lines of service. I see others with more than that, sharing minutes. Odd. Can anyone claify that for me?

It depends on your credit class first of all, in my experience it only works well when you have all lines at $0.00 or all lines at $10. The 9.99 codes on family plans actually will give you a head ache if you go for more than 5 lines.

Secondly, I get everything I want from Sprint because of a stalking issue. And I mean *everything!*

thru retention i got my treo 700p for $150 after upgrade rebates and credits. And i wasnt even eligable for an upgrade because of all the esn swaps ive done wit my treo 650 when i took it 2 the sprint store and it be there for a day or 2. all i did was explain that i could get it for $499.99 thru palm without contract where sprint charges $649.99 so they matched that. Then she gave me $250 credit for upgraded and renewing my contract i mentioned sprint portal because its usually $150 but on there it says $250 and the rep she knew about it she said no problem. and then offered me another $100 credit. She offered me some other deals on an addon because i have 4 lines used and been approved for 10. So yea retention can still giveout great deals just b nice to them talk to them respectfully and you usually come out good.

So I am looking to get another 700p for my second line, what is the going rate through retentions these days. Currently, I have the blade and it is a big piece of crap! I got it practically free. I have the 700p on my main line, which I paid $300 for through retentions back in June.

Phones are not as discounted as they were back in august ane before. Sprint has taken quite a bit of discression from retentions.

When did you get the blade on that line from retentions? what is your contract status on that line, and what was the contract status on the line you upgraded in June? with that information, we can better assist you :)

I got the blade the same time I got the 700p back in June. I got the blade for around 74.99 or something. I have been a loyal sprint customer since like 1998. I just renewed my contract back when I got the new phones, I also switched over to a business account at that time, for my business discount. I have had two lines now for 3 or 4 years now, I think I qualify for like ten lines. When I upgraded my phones I was about a year into my most recent contract. I am always adding features and tweaking my contract, so I kept renewing my two year contract randomly. My contract is in great standing, high price plan...lots of loyalties and discounts.

So you have been in the "blade" since june? I honestly dont think they will do alot for you on the price of the treo700p. I tried to get a retention deal on a treo and sprint was offering me the 650 (back in july I believe) for 99.99 when "sprintnetwork" on ebay was doing the 700p for 79.99. I ended up just adding a line and taking an ebay deal, figuring it was going to cost me less for the AAP and the steep discounted handset even after 2 years of an AAP @ $10/month.

Best of luck to you, I hope you find a good price.

Just got off the phone with rentention, I got my Palm Treo 700p for 299.99 with no shipping charge and no wait for the $100 rebate. So she charged me 299.99 upfront. Moreover, it looks like she didn't charge me for taxes and free activation.

Ok...so I found out something interesting tonight regarding returning a semi new phone well after the 30 days. This was my way of getting the treo 700p...regarding my post above about the Blade being crappy and me wanting to get rid of it for the 700p, but have had the blade since June. Ok so here is how I just worked it out w/ retentions..

I explained that the battery life and reception in my apartment is terrible...and my roommate in the same apartment has the 700p...and has none of these issues....so I would like to exchange my defective blade and upgrade to the 700p.

So retentions said the blade has a manufactures warranty of a year and since it is defective, I could return it for its value...which is $349.99....subtract that from the cost of the 700p...$649.99...and you get $300! Mind you I paid $79.99 for the blade.

So he took my credit card info and charged me a flat out $300. I asked 100's of questions to insure I understood it correctly...so that is exciting!

OK...so Sprint has not charged my account yet for the Treo 700p, they did credit the account for the price of the blade ($349.99) plus the warranty fee of $55 (that they waived), so I have a credit of 404.99. However, I have not returned the blade yet, the credit appeared instantly when I purchased the Treo. I am assuming if I don't return the blade, the credit will be taken back.

My question is, they are charging my account full price for the Treo, 649.99 and then subtracting the price of the blade and waiving the insurance fee...so that comes out to paying $300 for the Treo.

Do you think I can work out a way to get it cheaper? B/C I got mine on my primary line for $150 back in July, but this Treo is for my second line and it doesn't qualify for any rebates (the blade is only 5 months old) and I only paid 79.99 for it. They are refunding full price and subtracting that from that from the treo, so I guess I shouldn't get too greedy. I just think I should try for better, any thoughts????

Be happy sprint is willing to give you full value for the blade and sell you the treo. Was this done thru sprint or lockline?

Along with a sweet plan, I was able to get a treo for 249.99 (Wirefly price match) and a $50 credit. Oh, and also a Fusic for $49.99. They're not really giving stuff away, but it's possible to get a good price and not have to deal with rebate bs if you call them. :)
