Ladies & Gentlemen,

PLS do not send me any PM's on Retention ISSUES. Follow the Yahoo link I've provided above.

Now that I have a computer (#) at home, I can work openly and w/o worry of my job being in jepordy!

I have held back this last week from doing much work on my emails as we have been VERY busy at work.

Now, for every one to know! I am fixing to take ANY donations you may want to slide my way. I couldn't, wouldn't and shouldn't have done this while working from my work computer (#) as this would have been a violation of my job.

This DOES NOT mean I wont answer your emails if you dont donate. NOR will donating move you up to the front of the line.

Donations will be taken in ANY form you may wish to provide. Cash (paypal (#) coming soon!), Checks, Money Orders, Old Phones (#), $U Dollars, Ect! Be creative as well.

FYI, I've been monitoring how much time I have put into doing this. It equals about 85 hours and about 95 emails.

Also, I have personally been responsible for about 102 phones, equalling about $145k in FREE or Heavily reduced phones. A monthly savings of about $31k in reduced or free services and retention plans for all I personally have called in for. ALSO, SPCS has gained OVER $190k in guaranteed ETF's AND Monthly Service charges. So they ain't hurting either.

Now, if you add the people I have helped in info, advice and personal time on the phone with, I KNOW I can push those total numbers well OVER $230k in SprintUsers Members Savings! Now I know there are many I've helped that haven't reported back to me, and that is fine. Some people have worried that they will be either "attacked" or "mobbed" for using my "tactics" in getting what they want.

Not to bad for a single person helping out here? HUH?

Sorry, I AM tooting my own horn here. I figured this all out today while at work. It brought a BIG smile to my face.

So, If I've helped you, pls let me know, either privately or publically. Whichever you choose.

Thanks for all your kind words, patience and understanding. There will be ALOT more coming as I now have complete access at home.

Thank You!

Patrick

Patrick - a shout out here from another Texas SprintUser!

I am originally from DFW as well, but now in Austin finishing up graduate school (a long 8 years!). Anyways I haven't used your services yet, but I would love to down the road, provided that you are willing of course. I'm an admitted phone addict as well, and have had the A900 for only about 2 months and already am itching for a new one...sigh. I will hold out until the end of the year though at least, so when that time comes, I'd be forever in debt to you if you can help.

Even though you don't really mention it, I'd def. be willing to chip in, say via paypal or whatever for your help!

THANKS!!!!

patrick-

I think you could use the usage analyzer I made to better understand some of your requests and what plans they should get. IT is not final yet, but it is rather accurate right now. I don't get any money or hits or anything stupid like that.. i made this for the community and it seems to help some people out.

Well,

Thanks to Bill, I was able to get to 69 emails yesterday. ALL day yesterday.

Some of you are asking for more than a miracle, some are surely gonna get what they want. But I will get to all of the emails this weekend.

You can keep em coming. I'll get to them asap.

I did also hear that a 4 line acct used my info to wrangle 1 new fusic (free) 2 new A920's (free) and a Treo 700 for $149.99. NOT TO SHABBY! I did advise them to leave their plan alone because they had a serious 2500 ATM plan for just 69.99 w/ the last 2 lines only costing $10 each, BUT, they had the PV FREE, UNL Txt Msgs FREE.

I haven't been able to get either free, so I told them to leave the plan alone.

So as you can see. GREAT things are STILL happening with retention. Just understand that it is getting harder and harder.

Thanks,

Patrick

I know Patrick is slammed trying to help everyone...so maybe some who he has already helped could answer this. How does this process work? Does Pat call up Sprint and pretend to be one of us..then work his charm on the retention rep? Also, does he confirm with us to verify what deal he has negotiated before approves it? Just curious how this whole thing plays out.

thanks for you help...

I know patrick is busy so until he gets to my email I'd appreciate any suggestions you all might have and what I should ask for!

Current Plan: 500 anytime min. Nationwide
7-7 night and weekends
$39 a month nothing else (no txting, or anything)
What I want: A treo 700P for $199 or less
Free (whatever you suggest txting, roaming, etc. whatever I will need for the new phone)

I only have 1 line with SPCS and have been with them for over 9 years and out of contract for over 7. I'd like to keep my bill around $50-$60 bucks a month or less. I have NEVER been given any credits eventhough I almost always pay my bill on time. They never answer my questions when I send them emails anyway about discounts sooooo, please suggest idea's for me. I think I should get loyalty rebates, free stuff and whatever else for being with them for so long, Please lemme know your suggestions, and what you think is realistic. Thanks alot

Well, apparently, I need 512 MB DDR 266 MHZ PC (#) 2100 memory (#). My sis-in-law, who is a Computer (#) Proffessor in a Abilene Computer College, says the 3200 would be too much for my CPU. So I'll just have to go buy it to bump up the speed. I REALLY appreciate the offer, but don't want to kill the cpu (#). That would be bad, very bad.

If anyone out there has what I just posted, pls feel free to send it out.

Thanks Morphine10, if you have it, pls send it.

I managed to get a FREE 6700 for one lucky person. NOW, before you all start screaming "ME TOO!" , pls understand something. This individual has been outta contract since 2000, has never upgraded his Kyocera (#) 6036, so it was easy to get him what he wanted.

Patrick,

Morphine10's PC3200 memory will work just fine in your Dell GX260. The CPU cannot be harmed at all by using faster rated memory (PC2700 or PC3200).

Your Dell GX260 with a Celeron 2.0Ghz runs with a 400mhz Front Side Bus (FSB). This only requires PC2100 memory to operate optimally. Your system will take faster memory (PC2700 or PC3200) and will simply operate it at the appropriate speed (PC2100). Yes, PC3200 is overkill for this system, but you may find the faster memory useful at a later time if you obtain another computer that uses PC3200.

For more reassurance that PC3200 will work, go to the http://www.crucual.com, and search for memory for a Dell Optiplex GX260. You will see that they list only PC2700 and PC3200.

Take care,
Bill

Okay,

What I do is review the info you give me, if you've given me access to your acct online, I get a good feel for what will work for you.

I then email you what I think you can get, can't get, ect. Explain what you need to say and how to say it. Then let you talk to retention and see what you get from there.

If need be, I have you call me so I can go over everything with you. If it turns out I am going to call in for you, then I will go over everything and we will discuss what I think I can get for you. Of course, I can call in for a female acting as her husband, brother or son. Depends on the situation. (Sometimes they will talk to me, sometimes not!)

If I'm calling in, then we will have discussed, and gotten your permission, what you want and that is what I will work for. If I can't get it, then I simply tell the rep I'll think about it, hang up and go from there. Okay.

The biggest reason I take the deal is because the next rep may not be willing to honor the previous reps notes, OR, the rep that offered the deal may get mad because he/she wont be the one to get the "SAVE", and wont' notate the acct.

Does this answer the questions?

If there are any more questions, pls post them and I will answer them.

Thanks,

Patrick

I had some GREAT luck with Sprint today. I called in for the second phone line on my account, which has not been upgraded for about 2 years, and also out of contract for a little over 2 years, and Sprint just HOOKED me up.

I called in to retention, just to ask if they had any special offers for current customers, and told the nice lady (LaTanya) what I was looking for. Since I have been a good customer since '98, she said she could really help out. In the begining, she was going to get me the Treo 700P for about 349, but in the end I asked about the LG Fusic, and she gave it to me for FREEE!

Keep in mind, I have been a customer for a LONG time, also have never had any late payments. I have two lines on my account, but they are separate services, (meaning each line has its own plan, not an add-a-phone).

My line, the phone gets switched every 8-12 months. I'm a rough user, meaning my phone gets beat up, and used quite a bit (my monthly total minutes have varied from 7,000- 10,000/month), so I am never eligible for upgrade rebate. I explanied this point to her, and said that any help she could give me for my second line (because I spend A LOT of $$$ on phones) would be greatly appreciated.

I've been reading through the forum, and have found Patrick's advice very useful, and used some of this points in speaking with Sprint.

I'd like to thank Patrick for giving some great information on this board, without his ideas, I wouldn't have been given such a great deal.

Thanks!!

Although I strongly believe in this community, I find it hard to believe that a supervisor from retention would come to this board to help out all of us and save us monies, unless he is a disgruntled employee (A.K.A. not a supervisor) Even if it is true, the supervisors job in a company is to keep costs low and revenue high (A.K.A. get you to settle for the least amount possible to stay). I mean no disrespect but patrick is proving himself with us, if you would like to say you are a retention guru as well remember these quotes "Talk is Cheap" and "Where's the beef?" No disrespect, just putting it on the table.

I can understand you being American and paranoid. Actually theres 3 of us who monitor this site and we were told to stop by Sprint but we dont believe anyone can dictate what we do in our free time. Your only half right on the costs. However Teamleaders and Managers worry about that. I have a 1500 limit per acct. I am sure ive helped dozens in PMs already If you dont want my info dont ask I wont give it to you. And if some people feel threatened because someone decided to Speak Up and Help out. Do you even know Retentions Motto for my Site?

FYI for your employees who follow the top Sprint sites mights the highest of CSAT and Save Rate you could learn from us :) PS I average 87% of my customers staying with Sprint and less then 3% of those cancel in 6 months

I have PM'd Tai and he/she seems legit.

I've asked Tai that I have an acct I'd like him/her to look at and give me their thoughts on the acct.

I can certainly understand SPCS wanting their employees to stay away from this board. Many are clueless what really goes on in the SPCS community and this board is an excellent opportunity for them to learn how they could help us here on SU.

SPCS could learn a thing or two as well if they would heed what we say here. We'll see!

My point is ive got several of the longer standing members excusing me of various things and there all Americans. Hence the paranoia. Personally i have little to gain here and more to risk. But I thought I was doing you people a favor. Same with any customer who thinks there calling in to get screwed by Sprint when they want to cancel and we try and educate you on ETF and how to waive it. Noone ever listens and were considered liars. However if you wait for what we have to say then you might learn something. My Canadian site is all about helping the customer as most other sites arent. I have to step in and say something.

I have been speaking w/ Tai and this seems legit.

Pls stop bashing Tai.

If you do not want Tai's help, then don't ask for it.

Also, Tai wont need your last four of your SSN, your acct online Password like I do cause Tai can access the actual acct if so pleases.

I have asked Tai to not post any more info that might lead to his identity. Cause I know as well as most of you that there are SPCS executives monitoring this site and we've seen several people over the years get fired for helping.

You can PM Tai and if you get a reply consider yourself lucky! Otherwise leave Tai alone!

Thank You,

OK, I am sorry my original posts set off so much trouble. Let's get back to what this is all about, the fact that Patrick has generously offered his time to help us all out and get us the best retention deals. I am an American with a purole heart, so I can say Tai is entitled to think as he pleases and if he is willing to help, thank him for it.

Patrick, I am calling SPCS tonight with your suggestions to let you know how it goes, I am heading to the post office in an hour to ship you 9 old phones, and the RAM for your PC. Sorry to have started this in your thread, you are an awsome resource and Hopefully this sets us back on track

So I called sprint 2x now and the best they are offering me is a 750P for $349, which according to all of you is an absolutely horrible price,(was shooting for $199) they also said they are totally out of 650's unless you want the cameraless version, and then I was told they are out of them. (She said she checked with 2 supervisors about prices and phones).
They did offer me the same plans that everyone else who is new gets, and then they told me thanks for being with us for over 9 years w/out a contract. I hate to say this but then she said if Cingular is offering you that good a deal then I should go with them(she whispered this so I think she was being honest). She was nice but no amount of polite persistance seemed to pay off.
I am going to try one more time later, and if I get the same answer I will actually cancel my sprint account,(or ask Patrick to try for me) after literally, thousands of dollars they tell me to go to cingular, what a bunch of ****ing idiots.

Dust Settles!

Okay! I have some MORE good News for some LUCKY fellow SU'rs.

I've was able to do 2 calls to retention for 2 people.

The first one was UNBELIEVABLY EASY! Probably the easiest retention I've EVER had! And only the 2nd TREO 700 I was able to get for free!

NOW, before you all start screaming me too, me too! This individual has been outta contract for several years, has had the Treo 600 for most of that, AND had not gotten anything from retention in the past! So he was a PRIME candidate for a good deal.

I also got him the good standby plan of
$40...........1000 ATM
$10...........N/W @ 6pm
FREE.........M2M
FREE.........500 Txt Msgs
FREE.........Unlimited Power Vision W/ Picture Mail
PLUS.........5% Loyalty Discount

The 2nd person came out good too.

He had 2 lines, No Contract for 2 yrs, 1 Sanyo 5300, 1 Nokia 3588i (both phones eligible for $150 rebates) and was on the $85 2000 ATM plan WITHOUT N/W minutes! He averaged 1800-2300 minutes a month, WITH $0.40 per minute charges for going over 2000 minutes. EVERY 100 MINUTES OF OVERAGE WAS $40!

He NOW has 2 Samsung A920s FREE, plus his plan is quite good too!

His new plan is as follows:
$59.99 550 ATM Flexing up to 1050
INCLUDES 2nd line
FREE 6pm N/W (70% of his minutes usage was after 6pm) (plus, he didn't have M2M)
FREE M2M
FREE Power Vision W/ Picture Mail on BOTH Lines!
FREE 500 txt msgs on each line as well.
I fought for a 15% Loyalty discount, but was only able to get 10%. But still not bad since didn't have it before. Right?

Had to toot again!

Thanks for the compliments. It does mean alot.

As far as PAM goes, I haven't had to find out that question, but I don't believe it will be possible. It's not a standard add on to a plan.

IF you do manage to work it out, pls let me know so I can add it to my arsenal of information.

Take care, going to bed!

Holy Crap Batman!!!!

Alright I am now bowing to the master of retentions! As you can see from my last 2 posts things did not go well for me as I tried in vain to get a deal from SPCS. Here again is more proof of the master at work:

Old Plan:
$45 a month for 500 Anytime Nationwide Min.
7-7 Nights and Weekends
That's it, quit laughing, seriously that was it

My New Plan and the dealio:
Treo 700P for $99, yes $99......$250 less than my best offer b4 (WOW) a $650+ dollar phone for $99 Bucks is Awsome as HE*L
1000 Anytime Minutes Nationwide
7-7 Nights and Weekends
M2M for FREE ( I love that word )
500 Txt for FREE (Still Love it)
Ultimate Vision Power Pack for $5 a month (Holy S**t) less than 1 rum and coke costs
23% Discount for job (Gov. and Hospital)
All together my bill will be pretty much the same for this much more!!

Ok, let me just say that even though I sent Pat some stuff it dosen't even come close to what he saved me and somehow I will make it right to him soon, and I encourage all of you to do the same. He didn't even ask for anything in return. Having him call in is awsome, cause it saves you the trouble, and again he really knows his stuff! Thank you so much Pat, Hopefully we can ski together this winter.....

Getting ready to re-up and negotiate a deal with retentions. Was wondering if anyone knew whether or not Phone as a Modem is a feature that Sprint is willing to negotiate on or not?

Thanks in advance...I am thinking this is a non-negotiable at this point in time. Here is my reasoning - I spoke with at least three or four reps (I forget but I think they were business side)...PAM seems like such a new thing it was very difficult to find out any info on this option. What I finally got out of my conversations is PAM is very new...so new that I would find it difficult for Sprint to make use of this as a selling point to keep customers with at this point. Well, maybe a year or two down the road where this becomes more commoditized, where every Tom-Dick-Harry wants it, Sprint would offer PAM as part of a package to retain valuable customers with.

Any one at any time can work a deal. Leverage is knowing the product you WANT, the price you CAN pay and the willingness to pursue what you want.

That sentence is applicable to just about anything in life.

NOW, in Captaindingbat's position, he may not have much leverage, RIGHT NOW, but when his contract expires, as long as he's been in good standing, he WILL be able to work a good deal for himself.

He can TRY to work something now, but in my experience, it wont do much good.

FYI, I am going to work on a page that I will see if I can get it place as a sticky w/ ALOT of the info I use. NOT all of it, gotta save some for the home team, but alot that will assist you guys in helping yourself.

How does someone start off a conversation with Retention that leads to a good deal? Does it start with a threat of canceling service? Or a flat-out asking of "what can you do for me?"

Can anyone with experience give a sample scenario and how to start the discussion to get a great deal?

He may not be able to go lower on the phone but there are other things he CAN give you. The free power vission is worth $180 a year. 400 - 180 = $220, over 2 years = $40. Maybe unlimited text, FIMF, nights starting at 6pm, good coustomer 10% off. It all adds up. Look at your total bottom line for the entire year. Might check other companys offering on the 700 and use that if its lower than $400. Don't just look at the initial cost of the phone.

Depends on your credit class, what you've spent w/ them over the life of your acct, how many times you've called to get credits, what you want and what they are willing to give.

Outta contract since 05 is a good start. If things are good w/ your acct. You should be able to get a good deal on a phone and plan.

after reading up on this site & several unsuccessful calls, i finally got to retention & was able to get a BB 7130e for $149 & free sms for my line & 2 others (i was paying $5, $4 & $2.50 for sms).

Patrick, i sent u an email, u can now disregard. thanks.

here exactly what i did w/ Pat/Tai's help, it was easy. called 888-788-4727 said "cancel my account". when rep came on asked about info. for porting my number to another carrier. said verizon offered me BB 7130e for $199 w/ $50 MIR, free sms, no activation (which is their current offer). rep said i still under contract 'til 7/07 & i'd have to pay term fee to leave. after a bit of chit chat, he asked if i had to go to verizon or if sprint could match would i stay? i said sure. after a bit of typing, etc. he said ok got it setup. he then asked if anything else he could do, i then asked, well, i was wondering if you could hook me up w/ free sms on two other lines. he said let's take a look, said sure. more typing, then he said all done. all this said, i did have to renew another 2yr contract :deal: , but i have no intention of leaving sprint been her since 1997. can't wait for my BB to come in the mail. :fingers:

First off I want to say Hello.. (first post)

I sent you an email Patrick.. So thank you for just taking your time in advance.

After reading the forum because I was miffed about getting screwed on a phone.. (upgraded in Dec and the worker never mentioned the A900 coming out when I said I wanted a thin phone like the razor.)
I sent an email to ecare yesterday (before email to Patrick) and got this response.. Which compared to the rest of you.. I don't think is great.

Dear James,

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I apologize for
the inconvenience caused due to the bad deal while purchasing the
phone.

As you have been highly inconvenienced, I offer you the credit of
$100.00 against the purchase of the new handset. The credit will be
applied once the handset is purchased and activated.

After activating the handset, you are requested to write back and the
credit will be applied to the account.

I once again apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Looking forward to serve you.

Thank you for contacting us.

I wrote back saying that the deal was essentially crap because I'd still have to pay 200 for a phone (thinking fusic or A900)

then a quick reply came..

Dear James,

Thank you for contacting us once again.

The offer I have made is the best I can do from my side.

However, if you wish to cancel the account prior to the satisfaction of
the agreement then the Early Termination Fee of $150.00 per subscription
will be applicable.

Looking forward to serve you.

Thank you for contacting Sprint.

Just using Patricks advice, and learning from this thread I was able to help out a friend. She had an old Sanyo 2300, that was broken. She took it in today, and they replaced it (She has TEP). She took that phone home, and it was malfuntcioning within an hour. Went back, got ANOTHER replacement, same thing. She's been a Sprint customer for barely a year, and was only eligible for the $75 rebate. She called in, (she thinks e-mail is ineffecient), and ended up getting the Fusic for $129, with free shipping, just by saying what I told her, from what I learned in here. Thanks Patrick, and to everyone else who has given me ideas on here. I know it may not seem like a big deal, but her price on the Fusic was suppose to be $250. She's extatic. Thanks again to all of you for your help!

I get a 23% buisness and 5% loyalty on both of my lines on my account.. I asked once to be upped to 10% loyalty cause people on here were getting it and I was told there's no way that you can't stack discounts and that I was lucky to be getting 23 and 5.. And here someone just got 20% on top of there buisness but maybe since mine is 23% I don't know...

My friend on my account all she wants is a new phone and she is only elegible for 75 right now and she has no money.. She said her 8200 is breaking so I may take it into the Sprint store and see what they can do if not I may call retentions on my own... Is the 8200 still made? If she did ETP would she get that or something else? She doesn't do anything but use it as a phone and maybe take a pic or two of her kid but she just needs a plain good phone no vision or texting she does none of that.. I wish I could get her a katana.. Her boyfirend has Cingular and she was really offered a free Razor at one time and said no.. Rose

I'm looking to get a free text messaging plan on my account as well. I currently have SERO and a 18% corp discount(though i have not yet seen it in a statement.) I actually have a valid reason due to my home reception being so terrible. I can often send text but making a call is more difficult. I just got my phone on friday. I also just came from ATT/Cingular and had much better service with free incoming text.

All I know is that I sent him an email on June 30th with all my info (exactly as he requested) and I have still not heard back from him yet. From what I have seen

Greetings and Hallucinations!

Okay, Patrick...you can disregard my e-mail. I got an itchy trigger finger and called up to cancel. I was truly serious - I was going to sign on with a different carrier today that offered 2 PDA phones for 299/each.

What I wanted:

* 2 Treo 700's for at least 299
* 500 Text Messages for discount
* Power Vision (the 20 dollar one) for both lines - discounted
* To downgrade my plan/minutes to 1500
* Free Roaming

What I got:

* 2 treo 700's for 99 (yes 99)/ea. (first offer from retentions - didn't ask for it)
* U/L Text for free - both lines
* Power Vision $10/each line
* Downgraded my plan to 1500 min
* Free Roaming
* 7pm nights - both lines
* 15% Business Discount

Honestly I wasn't asking for too much. I didn't talk to them or think that I "deserved" anything for free, but if they were willing to offer it...by golly, I'll take it! :headbang2

radiofreq, what type of plan were you on before price-wise? over $100 a month?

do you guys know if there's more weight towards having a plan with multiple lines or having multiple individual accounts with sprint?

Radiofreq- EXCELLENT JOB! Getting the Treo for $99 is NOT easy by any means. You got just about what I could have gotten you.

See people. I am not doing anything special. Just giving out helpful info. RadioFreq didn't get ANY help from me and he got a great deal!

GOOD JOB!

YXD23,

The things that carry weight w/ SPCS is how much you SPEND! How long you've been a customer and how good a standing your acct is.

NOW, just because someone out there might only spend $40 a month, doesn't mean they aren't a valued customer. If that person pays the bill on time, has been w/ SPCS for several years, then they will carry almost as much weight as a $100 a month acct w/ the same time w/ the company. However, the more you spend, the better the retention offers will be.

One thing EVERYONE can ask Customer Service & Retentions is "How Many $ signs do I have?" The more $ you have, the better your retention offers are. You may have several people tell you that there is no such thing, but each acct has a designated $ limit.

One way to get the $ signs up quickly when your a new customer is to pay your bill when it comes out. NOT when it's due. If you pay your bill when it comes out for about 6 months. You could actually increase your $ sign from 1 to 3 that quickly. Then pay your bill a day or two before the due date and by the time your 2 yrs is up, you will have at least 3-5 $ signs.

This will give you the leverage to get ALOT when your time to renew comes around.

If you've got 4 or 5 $ signs and still have 6 months left, you could still get a great deal.

Now, if you've constantly been late, called to get credits you really didn't deserve, then all these things will highly impact your $ rating.

So, if you don't really deserve it, then don't get it, and when your turn comes to deal w/ retentions, then you will be able to get more w/ less hassle.

I went against Patrick's advice, just because I couldn't wait until my EOC in Feb '07 (itchy trigger finger). I called retentions AGAIN (11th time) to see if I couldn't get them below the $300 price point for a PPC-6700.

I spoke with Jessica (Florida call center AGAIN (4th time)) who said, right away, she would offer me the phone for $200. Well, the gavel struck and the deal was sold. Then, she read my notes from a previous call about getting PV and said, because I can't get the picture pack with the 6700, she would knock the price from $15 to $5/mo for unlimited PV. The gavel struck again.

After countless weeks and hours on the phone w/ Sprint I finally got the perks that were important to me. While others have done much better, all that matters is I'M happy. I really think it all depends on the CSR you get and, as has been posted countless time before, to keep trying.

Thanks again to all who offered their more extensive knowledge to help me out (much kudos to Patrick, of course :headbang2). Without this site and the willingness of others to help I'd still be in the dark. :tu:

Do they make a note every time you call and what you say and ask for? I have been with them since 2001 and shortly after I added my friend to my account.. She has her own plan and pays me every month cause of my discount.. I pay over a 100 a month and have never been late and lots of times pay early on my number and hers gets paid right before it's due..

I don't want to change my plan ever but she needs a new phone pretty bad.. Were not up for 150 till 7/07 but her 8200 she said the hinge it's breaking or something.. She never liked that phone way cause of the earpiece and the redialing.. All I would like is to get her a new phone for free.. And the thing is she doesn't do internet or text or care about AAC ringers.. She just wants a good phone for talking and nothing else.. She did take pictures of her kid so maybe a camera but she likes a flip with an external display.. So I may call rententions myself and see what I can get her.. Actually the Katana would be great for her but I know there not giving that away for free.. Her boyfriend has Cingular and they really did offer her a free razor at one time and she said no.. I just hope I know what to say and can help her out when I call.. Like I said we don't want our plans changed she just needs a phone.. And I would love to get one by the end of the year or beginning of next year with my 150 early instead of waiting till July if they would let me.. I just want bluetooth.. I complained about my 8200 and they let me do the 150 instant a few months early on my 8300 which was cool.. Rose

Do they make a note every time you call and what you say and ask for?

As far as my account was concerned, yes. Even when I emailed Ecare, it was noted. Every rep I spoke with (or at least the one's who accessed my account) said, "I'm just reading some of the notes in your account." They knew who I'd talked to, what was said (at least what was noted by the CSR), how many times I called/emailed, and therefore knew if I was BS-ing them or not about what I was offered prior.

Patrick:

I sent you an email on June 27th with my situation and I've been rethinking it and have sent you a followup email containing the original email as well and the subject header is 'Retention Bearxor REVISED'

When you get to my June 27th email, could you just skip it and pull up the one I just sent you instead?

Thanks,

Out of curiosity does it matter how long you have been out of contract? I sent patrick an email last week but just trying to do some research on my situation and see if what i sent patrick was possible? 700p for 99 bucks plus a cheaper plan than I have. Been out of contract for about a year and and I qualify for the 150 phone rebate. Will I have more power in bargaining the longer you wait out of contract? I guess I should also mention that I have been with sprint since around 1998 or 1999. It has been too long to remember....

Awesome thread...just need some insigh on a question i had:

As you see my plan below is pretty sweet - but i was hoping to change the anytime minutes i receive and hopefully be bumped up while staying relatively close to how much my monthly price currently is. Would that be possible within retentions to ask for a plan with more minutes, stay around $30-40/month range, and maintain my discounts? I recently signed a 2-year a couple months ago so lemme know what patrick and every1 thinks, thanks!

Any thoughts, anyone :wavey: ???

Just wanted to thank you folks for the assistance, I emailed Patrick, but ended up working a deal out myself that I'm comfortable with.
Our stats and what we got.
Myself - customer since '98, out of contract for about 8 months
Wife - Customer for 9 months, contract goes 15 months

I'd had a $30 300 minute plan forever, liked it, was fine, wife had the 400 minute
$35 plan.

I was able to move my wife over and received the following, I will have one question if someone can answer for me at the end.

2 new phones, both Fusics for $160 free shipping and activation
20% off our plan of choice
7 pm start free
mobile to mobile free
roaming free
Vision for both $10

Now we have to do a liability transfer to move her phone to my account, now my question is I neglected to ask about a 2nd phone charge and if it applied, my mistake. What should I expect to pay for that with this offer, anyone have an idea? She gave me the 20% discount now on my $30 plan with 300 minutes, and when we go in to move her phone over, they will ship her new phone to us and we can select the new plan. Suggestions? I realize that if we get a new plan, the 7pm and mobile to mobile would have been included in a family plan anyways. Just wondering if I should have mentioned the line charge and if I'll get hit with it. I'm happy either way though, deal works for me.

I had the old 2000 min shared plan for $100 with free granfathered vision on both lines. Out of contract since March of '06.

Thanks! I just looked through the previous threads and replies to see what others were getting vs. what their history was, and had the info from the other carrier that I was planning on switching to. I was honest with her (the rep) about why I was wanting to cancel (multiple CSR and billing issues), what the other carrier was offering, and what I was looking for from the other carrier (i.e. text messages, web/data access, pda functionality, etc.).

The Rep was one of the nicest ones I've ever encountered and seemed genuinely sorry for the troubles my wife and I had encountered throughout our history with Sprint. She apologized throughout the call and kept offering more! :deal: How could I say no? ;) I will also add that I was extremely mild mannered and understanding of how some issues we had were due to computer problems and didn't place undue blame on anyone.

I hope some of this info helps someone else out! :wavey:

Keep up the good work, Patrick! I'd say you did, in fact, help me on this deal. You have my permission to add my 2 Treo's for $99 to your arsenal!

But after reading the outstanding prices' that everyone was receiving I gave it a try for myself and achieved more than what I expected.

What I wanted:

PPC-6700 @ retail price $599

PPC-6700 @ no more than $299

What I received:

And on another note Patrick I see where you tell some people that how much you spend and how long you've been a customer comes into play with some of these offers.

Well in some aspects I disprove this theory:

1. My account with multiple lines is still under triple digits and probably isn't worth much to Sprint. Although everytime I call *2 they tell me I am approved for 10 lines of service under my current account. So maybe you are right because my account might show potential for high dollar signs.

2. I have been a Sprint customer for only a little over a year now and seem to get far more than some users who have been with Sprint way longer than myself. But once again maybe you are right because I have never been late with a payment, don't have a spending limit, and have an excellent credit history.

That is exactly how I feel too. I feel I have a good position and I would not be opposed to switching carriers but since I have been with sprint for a long time now I have some loyalty to them. I will just wait til Patrick gets to my case (which looks to be a few more weeks if I am lucky) and then go from there.

Careful, folks...just got hotlined this morning because of a $1,300.00 charge on my account (for the 2 $100 Treo 700's). Retentions was supposed to credit my account $1,100.00 but failed to do so, and there are apparently no notes on my account stating that I get the Treo's for that price...but the new plan and perks are there.

Looks like the lady at retentions did just enought to get the "saved customer" credit in her paycheck, yet left me out to dry.

Sorry to hear about this. Thats why before I even went to the store to pick up the 6700, I called to make sure that the credit for the amount of the phone plus tax was added to my account. Then when I went to the store and had the phone put on my account, there was nothing left to pay and the credit was applied properly.

When I call I speak to regular reps first who try to handle my situation and then the situation gets escalated to higher individuals within Sprint (sometimes retentions and sometimes not). When I speak to them I always fully explain my situation and keep my temper. Don't ever get mad with a rep and yell at them or give them any reason to write bad notes in your account. I have a hustler mentality and retail sales experience, so I know how to work my mouth when it comes to speaking to customer services reps in order to get what i want.

You have to understand that you are a customer and Sprint wants your business, so in most cases they will do what it takes to keep you on board. Once you realize that, you have all the power that you need to play the game in your favor. When I speak to them I don't lie, I just tell them the truth and tell them how certain aspects of their company inconvenience me, and in return they offer to make the situation better with excellent offers.

I don't know if I am as good as Patrick at getting what I want, but I definitely think I am quite good at it considering my plan:

SERO (includes pic mail, vid mail, power vision)
Free unlimited text
Free n/w @ 6pm
Free unlimited roaming
Free unlimited sprint to home
Free unlimited sprint to sprint
First incoming minute free
Business employee discount

I felt it out this morning and didn't like what I heard.

I called 888-211-4727 and said cancel. Claire asked if I wanted to cancel and I said yes.

When I got connected to a real person, I said that I had been out of contract almost two years and was weighing my options. She offered me the standard plans and the standard $150 off a new phone and a extra $50 credit off a new phone.

It doesn't seem like a retentions deal at all and maybe I didn't get connected to the retentions department. Should I call the 800-658-7564 number PCS Intel has listed as retentions instead of trying to go through claire?

I want between 800-1000 shared minutes, vision, text and insurance on both lines for about $100/month.

I want my second account closed with no ETF because I want that line put in to the main line to share minutes, but it's under a different name, so maybe I should do a transfer of liability before trying? The woman did tell me I could have two lines on the account.

Then, I want a 6700 and a 700P for less than $200 combined. Is what I'm asking for unrealistic?

I just got off of the phone with retentions, and with the help of Patrick, I'm a happy camper :) Maybe what i got is not as good as some of the deals people here have recieved, but I'm happy, and thats what matter to me. I have 5 lines on the acct, and this is what retentions just gave me:

2200 Anytime Mins F&F for $109.99
Second line Free
3 More lines at $10 each
Free N&W 7pm
Free M2M
Free 100 Text on 3 Lines
$15 unlimited text for me
$7.50 unlimited text for my wife
(2) $15 power vision with Sprint TV (originally the $25 pack) (total $30) (1st month free)
20% off Entire bill loyalty discount

Now my bill will be $153 plus tax for all 5 lines, where it has been $240 including tax for regular vision, no sprint tv, and unlimited text on 2 lines, and no text on 3 lines.

So im saving roughly $60 a month after taxes, and getting more features for my money. Now, that plan isnt TOO different from what sprint's offering openly to anyone, however my real savings came on my PHONES!

HERES THE REAL SAVINGS!

2 Treo 700's at $99 Each!
2 Katana's at $79 Each!
1 FREE KATANA!

Paid $359.XX for Retail over $2k in phones!! That made me happy :) Plus all the fees to activate these phones are waived.

yo, i've been checking out this forum all day and decided to go ahead and give it a try. i've been a sprint customer for 5 years and am still under contract. this is what i had:

5 lines (shared) 2500 Anytime minutes @$100
Unlimited Vision (Free-grandfathered in) on 2 phones
Unlimited text on one phone
Paying $2.50-4.00 for text on two phones
Paying $7.50 for vision on one phone
small corporate dicount (maybe 10%)
that's basically it, may be forgetting a couple things...

Okay, i called retentions and gave them my story and got this....

5 lines (shared) 2500 Anytime minutes @$100
2 NEW FREE phones (Treo 700p - for me and Blackberry 7130E - for my wife)
Free Unlimited Power Vision for both of those phones
Free 500 Text messages on every line (plenty)
20% Discount on top of existing discount.

I'm excited! Thanks for the tips! but, the story may not be over. May be some more goodies to update later. Stay tuned... :Popcorn2:

You can certainly call and give it a try. HOWEVER, you really need to go ALL OUT or none. You need to look at how long you've been w/ SPCS. When is your contract up? Even if it isn't for another 15 months, if your adament about your situation, then use that!

I think you can call up, be nice, explain your situation and get a couple of nice phones. I would try for the Katana for you, and the Sanyo 3100 for your friend. Give it a try and see what happens.

Your Potential is EXACTLY why you were able to get what you did! If your acct was always late in getting paid, you had alot of basically undeserved credits, or many other things that were bad for you, then you wouldn't have gotten what you did.

While alot of how retention does treat you has to do w/ your time w/ them, there is the possibility you might get good deals such as yours. Just not a common thing. But possible, just as you proved.

OMG, I can't wait to grow the balls and call retentions

LOL!!!! Give it a try. You don't have to accept the offer if they give you one. Just try and see.

That is exactly how I feel too. I feel I have a good position and I would not be opposed to switching carriers but since I have been with sprint for a long time now I have some loyalty to them. I will just wait til Patrick gets to my case (which looks to be a few more weeks if I am lucky) and then go from there.

I will be getting a little faster here soon. I am about to start picking and choosing the emails I answer as I have ALOT of them that are either not realistic or probable. NOW, before everyone starts asking, I will still let you know what I think is possible, but I will be much more brief than before.

Is Patrick a Sprint insider? Or does he just happen to know Sprint's formulas as to what they can offer us?

I used to work for SPCS almost 4 yrs ago now. But that is not what gives me the knowledge I have. I have been in the Retail Market for over 25 yrs. I have always been a "Haggler". Pretty much except groceries, I can and do haggle on just about everything I get. Even w/ groceries, I use coupons, watch for deals and comparison shop very well.

Wow you guys are doing great calling on your own.. And Zeeshan you got free powervison on both phones always or just a free month? I think I'll get my friend a phone for now hers broke but works and she really needs one she doesn't like the 8200 at all.. She would like the 3100 I am sure. I'll wait it out awhile cause I want my AAC ringers and bluetooth on a Sanyo phone.. I don't want Powervision unless I can get a cheap deal on it and keep my unlimited text or at least 500 that is enough for me.. I just surf the net every now and then don't need TV and all the other extras.. But this site is great for info.. Thanks Guys, Rose

I got powervision free for only one month, but its $10 off each line, so im getting the $25 package with sprint tv and all for $15 for as long as i want, or i can get the $15 package for $5, or whatever.

Like i said, this deal may not be as good as what some of the people here have gotten, but im very satisfied. I feel i got what i wanted as far as phone prices, and what i wanted to pay monthly for the service...although if i tried harder i could have probably saved a little more, but decided not to get THAT greedy.

Okay Simply1:

Here's what you want! (TELL THEM YOU WILL ONLY TAKE THIS PLAN!)

$59.99.............550 ATM F&F up to 1050. (2nd line included in this plan)
FREE...............N/W @ 7pm (included in plan) (MAKE SURE TO TRY FOR 6PM)
FREE...............Roaming (included in plan)
FREE...............M2M (included in plan)
FREE...............500 Txt Msgs (Both Lines!)
FREE...............Regular Vision Picture Pack (BOTH LINES) (Katanas are not PV)
20%................Discount!

Since you are getting 2 Katana's, which are NOT PV phones, you can get everything I posted above as I posted it! Make a point to state that you KNOW someone who has this very plan! That will help seal the deal!

NOW GET OUT THERE AND GET IT DONE!

Very nice plan and similar to what I asked you in an e-mail. I might try this, except I "only" want 1 free Katana. The 8200 works great still, so why give it up? :)

What is the "up to 1050" in: $59.99.............550 ATM F&F up to 1050. (2nd line included in this plan). Get 1050 for the same price? Could you please explain? Thanks!

OK.. Finally got my plan worked out and credited. I wanted to make sure everything was certain (meaning sprint didn't say one thing and do another).

Renewed my account for another 2 years:
4 Lines on the account

All lines have the exact same "features" except for lines 3 & 4 as they have no EVDO
2000 Anytime
Unlimited N&W at 7pm
Mobile - Mobile
Roaming
500 Text Messages
$15 EVDO - $10 credit every month

They gave me 3 free A920's and I got a Treo 700p for $250 (I know, kind of high for a 700p)

All for $85 + $10 Add A Phone + $10 AAP + $5 EVDO + $5 EVDO - 25% Discount - $50 credit

All in all, not that bad. At least to me.

Took me about 6 calls to retention. Every time they told me they couldn't help and couldn't help. I finally got someone that could.

Josh

Wow. I'm impressed with some of your guys' results. I just emailed Patrick to see if he can help me. I'm really bad at such things so I could use any help Patrick can provide. I originally switched to Sprint because I couldn't convince Cingular that I was worth keeping despite the fact that at that time my phone bills regularly included over $70 in overage charges. One Cingular CSR actually suggested that I should switch to Sprint if I got such a good deal from them... so I did.

Patrick, keep up the good work and if there's anything I can do for you in return for your help, don't hesitate to ask.

Hi there. I've been lurking for a while now, and decided to get proactive concerning the negotiation of my sprint contract. I've seen many people on here who have gotten great deals with the help and advice of others here, and figured I would try as well.

(BTW, patrick, if you are reading this, I sent you an e-mail with all the info below + my account info; please let me know what you think)

Here is all the info I can think of (i.e. what I have, need, want, and anything else that might help someone determine what I can get):

Time With sprint: 6 years (rough estimate, possibly more)

Lines: 1

spending limit: I believe it's $500.00

contract expiration: Jan '07 (sorry, but I'm not sure on this either; I haven't checked)

payment history: very well - excellent ( have had maybe 3 late payments in 6 years)

Phone replacement eligibility: eligible for $150.00 as of 8/1/06 (although I got the coupon for it in the mail yesterday)

credits history: '03 called to complain about 4 kyocera (the blue POS phone, remember?) breaking, they replaced it; received free nights and weekends at 7 for free when I re-upped in '05

(I also called last month to see if they could match cingular's RAZOR deal; the lady told me that she could give me a retention plan on the usage, but couldn't come down on the price of the sprint version of the RAZOR. Told her I would call back when I became eligible for the 150.00 credit in august; I don't know if you needed to know that, but I figured the more info you had, the better your advice would be).

current plan: PCS free & clear plan $45.00
600 anytime min inc.
long distance inc.
free nights and weekends 7PM inc. (listed as costing me 5 a month, but I think they credit it to my account, Im not sure)

Phone(s) I want: A900, fustic (the one that plays music) , katana (I like the fusic the best, but will take whichever one you think I could get for FREE or the cheapest out of these if possible)

Plan(s) I want: something that gives me at least 600 anytime mins, n&w starting at 7, and (Hopefully??) something like free incoming minute or free sprint to home (if possible), and a vision plan w/ text and net for $5-$10. I would like to spend no more than $50.00 for any and all of this, but again, any insight you could give me as to what you think I would most likely be eligible for after considering my information.

Also, I am considering adding a separate line for my wife, and would like to know the likelyhood of getting her a good phone for cheap or FREE would be.

Please feel free to message me or post any thoghts or other helpful advice you can thank of.

Thanks

V

Hey guys been lurking for awhile, needed some advice on how to get a heavily discounted phone.

-Current Phone: Sanyo PM-8200
-Sprint Customer since 2000
-Dad just resigned a new contract in Jan 2000
-Havent missed a payment ever, great credit

-Looking to get a PDA/Smartphone for $200 or less. Preferably 700p or 6700

Are my expectations too high? I tried calling but could never get to the retention department. Best offer they could give me was the $150 rebate. My gameplan was i was asking them how much it would cost to cancel my contract and would go from there. Thanks guys for any help you guys can provide.

call *2 and then say cancel service when she asks what you want. that will take you to retentions

tell them all of that and they will be able to get you a pda for under or right at $200...or should be able to anyways

try this number and see if it works for you

866 818 1802

do that and let us know how it works out.

Here's what I did through retention, as well as what I would suggest to do. As im sure its been stated before, your payment history, customer loyalty (how long you have been with sprint) as well as your plan ("High rollers" such as those with multiple lines and a high price plan will have an easier time getting more done, a lower price plan with a single line wont have as much flexibility, but most likely you will gain in someway through retention, whether it be a free phone (or heavily discounted) or free services, i.e. unlimted text, free vision etc) plays in role in how the retention department with handle your "case" . This is what I did to get what I wanted, im sure it doesnt apply to everyones wants, but if anyone has any questions on this or how I went about it, or even related to what they want send me a PM.

I would call them once your contract has ended, and tell them, you would like to cancel your service. Most likely they will ask you why, if not kind of just force it on them. The "story" I used, which was actually partly true because I was considering it, I told them I wanted to cancel my service. I told them T-Mobile had a plan that was $30 dollars less than any plan I had seen with sprint and that they were willing to offer me 4 Moto Razor's for free (Do some research here and find out how much and equivalent plan with t-mobile would be, the rep's have price lists for all other carriers so they will know when you are bull****ting). Then I went into saying how I was happy with sprints service, I just saw a better deal and thats why I was cancelling service. Most likely the retention guy will step in here and say well I can offer you... Depending on what he/she says (what they offered me at first was not that great). I just said I saw that sprint had the "blade" (a900) and I told them I would be willing to take something similar to the razor, which was my justification for asking for the blade, Im sure you can use the same "excuse" to ask for the Katana (They may or may not give it to you for free, I had to pay 160 for all the phones up front for mine, but they in turn credited my account for $320, making the phones free and then some) At most they should charge you 80 a phone, but you might even be able to get them for free, I know they are trying to get rid of the A900's so they may not be as flexible with the Katana. As for your rate plan, depending on what exactly you were looking for they should be able to do something with that. I would just do some researching and see what rate plan you would want at the normal rate. Then say you would like that plan but would they be willing to give it to you for (20% off or something along those lines). Im not sure how much they will give you off with your plan, they gave me a very good deal, but then again I have been with sprint since 97, and for a while I had been paying an average of 200 a month for all my lines. If they dont budge on the rate plan you might want to consider asking for free powervision for all the phones and maybe free text. The main thing I think you need to get across to them is that you are "sincere" about transferring your service at first, dont just call and say Im cancelling unless you give me this and that (even though you arent) it is pretty much the retention guys job to figure out how to keep you as a customer (in most cases, Im assuming you have paid your bills on time at least most of the time etc...). I know I kind of just rambled there, so if any of it doesn't make sense or you have any more question's just let me know.

whatd you say to do that?

Just was REAL nice to the rep. Complimented her on her great service. She offered me some phones for free, including A900's, but I told her my family would rather have the new Katana. She said she will have to charge me for them, so i said, sure, how much. She told me $79. I said, sign me up! i'll take two of those and one free A900.

When she went to order the A900, It was out of stock, so she did the third katana for free.

Called sprint today and here is my retention offer. Is this a good one? What about my phone cost? Still too late to do anything about cost?

OLD PLAN - 2 LINES
$40 for first line, $20 second line
500 shared anytime minutes
9p nights and weekends
$10 vision for first phone, $5 for second
6.00 replacement
monthly cost $85

NEW PLAN - 2 lines
same as above but $20 discount both lines.
free vision on both phones
free roaming
monthly cost $54

Could I call back and try to get credits to lower price of phone?
700p Treo for $350. She would not go any lower.

heheh. we determined that since he always goes over 400mins, during the day. that the 500min plan was better (he has never in 5years exceeded 500 mins a month!!), his bills were always well over $140 a month so my bro was more than glad to just get it down to half... if i can i may call back next week once he gets his/our Blades in and we get them all cut on. i'm sure i could have done better haha but i was already on the phone with the rep for well over an hour and we are just glad to get a free phone and a smaller bill, yanoe?

Just wanted to say a big thank you to dfwtxpatrick and post the details of the new plan his advice helped me get from retentions...

My wife and I have been with Sprint since '99. We had two 4-yr old Sanyo 4900s and were sharing the published 300 minute F&F plan and had only gone over that 300 minutes a couple of times in 2 years. 2-yr agreement was up this September. Not being big spenders, I wouldn't have thought we had much leverage to get a retention plan. But a new job has me traveling and working from home more so I wanted new phones and more minutes.

I bought 2 Katanas at two different times a couple of weeks ago. Got them each for $79 with an additional $50 service credit from Sprint when I called in the ESN swap on the first one. Had to re-up the 2-yrs but was still within 30 days of buying the phone so that was usable when calling Sprint for a new plan. Very happy with the phones so far.

With pointers from Patrick, I called up retentions and was able to get:

550 F&F Family $59.95
Free Vision each phone
Free Roaming
Free 500 text messages each phone
Free M2M, N&W 7

Plus my 25% business discount = $45 before taxes.

Maybe not as spectacular a deal as some of the ones that people using more minutes or have more lines have gotten but it matches my needs perfectly and I'm happy with it.

It took two calls to retentions to get this. The first retentions CSR was pretty tough so I said no thanks and called back. It helped that I was within the 30 days to return the phones and go back to my original September expiration date and that nearly everyone at work is using Verizon or Cingular, which have (I think) a slightly better phone selection at the moment and offered comparable plans.

Patrick helped me understand what I could reasonably ask for and how to get it. Thanks very much for all your help!

Hey folks. Long time lurker, first post.

I got antsy and called retention today after being out of contract for a couple years (yeah years).

I've been with Sprint since around 1999. I had an old clear and free plan with 2 phones shared, 500 minutes plus 120 more for free. I also had unlimited Vision for 10 dollars. My total bill was 75.00 +taxes which brought me into the 86-89 dollar range. One of those phones is barely used and usually when it was used it was on the weekends. I'm still using a Sanyo 4900 from when it was a new model. My secondary line is an even older Sanyo, but it more than does its job for now.

I've been in the market for a new PDA phone and had the 6700 on my radar for awhile. After calling retentions today and explaining my situation out I was given this plan, which I don't believe is bad at all, but probably not the best.

-PPC 6700 for 199.99, they wouldn't budge on this price for me at all.
-Free S/H and Free swap of service from my older phone.
-F&F 550 minutes @59.99
-Unlimited Powervision for the same $10.00
-Roaming FREE
-M2M FREE
-500 Text FREE
-They offered me 6pm free or 6pm for 10.00 plus a 20% monthly discount. I took the latter, figuring I could always switch back to a 7pm for free and keep my 20% discount. The CSR explained that the 6pm for free would actually be less savings than the 20% loyalty discount anyways. He also told me it was a pain to get other perks, specifically % discounts with the 6pm free perk in the computer system.

Old plan 75.00 before tax
New Plan 64.00 before tax

Due to my credit limit being at $200.00 they also added in a temporary adjustment of 500.00 credit to my account for 10 days to allow me to pay for the phone without interrupted service.

Overall I'm fairly satisfied, I got this from one call without any pleading or haggling. If the CSR couldn't do something, he told me flat out that if he could he would, but just couldn't in the system. My only complaint was I was hoping for a better discount on the phone itself. I've seen folks mentioning they got a 6700 for free, I'd have settled for another 100 bucks off it.

My biggest concerns were getting a pda phone relatively cheap, keeping an Unlimited Vision package, and saving a little bit of money off my current package, so I think I did ok. I'd like to know from some of the more regulars if this was a decent package or did I get bamboozled.

Guys, I've been with Sprint for 8 years and my contracts up in a month. I've got 6 lines on my fair and flexible. I have 2,000 mins, nightimes at 7, and PCS to PCS. It's about 200 a month. What do you think the chances are of me calling and getting:

5 free or under 50 dollar A900's or 920's and possibly a 7th line. I've been with them for 8 years, and I guess i'm a pretty big spender.....

Hi...I emailed pat on jul 5th....I assume I will have to wait a bit more and I do not mind at all.....but since some people are getting help on this thread thought I would post on here too....so if anyone or Pat can help by posting anything please do so...greatly appreciated.

Following Pat's outline my situation is as follows:
1) How long have you been w/ SPCS?
2) How many lines do you have?
3) Do you have a spending limit?
4) If you have a spending limit, what is it?
5) When does your contract expire?
6) How well have you made your payments?
7) When are your phones eligible for replacement?
8) Have you called and gotten a lot of credits?
9) What is your current plan?
10) What kind of phones do you want?
11) What kind of plan are you looking to get?

1. At least 10 years if not more
2. 2 phone lines-shared plan
3. Yes
4. Spending limit is $100, but would like to reduce as much as possible..around $70 or less
5. 11/06
6. Payments are always on time
7. Don't know
8. No...never
9. * $100.00 PCS Free & Clear Plan
* Minutes Are Shared On This Plan
* All Minutes Include Long Distance
* 2000 Anytime Minutes
* Unlimited Night and Weekend Minutes
* Nights: M-Th 9PM-7AM Wknd: F 9PM-M 7AM
* Caller ID, Call Waiting
* Three-way Calling
* Voicemail
* Additional Anytime Minutes $.40 Per Min.
* Unlimited Sprint Mobile to Mobile Calling
* Shared line for free
* Picture Pack for $5 with $5 credit on downloads

10. Either 2 A900s for free? or preferably 1 A900 for free and any smartphone for free or very very cheap
11. Would like a plan that is cheaper..with lots of minutes. I like the 2000 plan because I am not worried about paying huge fees for using lots of anytime minutes (1500-1800). Also, I would like to get full use of the A900 or at least sirius radio...for free! or low price. In addition, I would like PAM on only 1 A900 for free or low price. Also, I have no discounts at all on my account, so whatever you recommend to get maximum savings. Highest loyalty discount?

 once again..thanks for reading this and helping out anyone.

hey, wisedude.. what kinda plan did u get? do u have any other business discount on your plan?

I got stone walled by 2 guys in Account Service<?>, I got routed there after saying "cancel" with Claire.. I have personal plan with business discount.

Actually I'm still confused about that, is Account Services really business retention? From the search I did on this site, I know that they have consumer(no business discount) retention.

Can any gurus kindly explained? TIA

I talked to retentions last week and they gave me a good deal. How long does it take to see the credits show up on your online account? Also, she told me I should have my 700p this past Tuesday and still haven't received it yet. Does sprint use regular mail to ship phones?

My phones were shipped via UPS.

When the retentions department FINALLY got it right, my credits showed within 1 hr online...BUT they were not completely accurate. The bulk of the credits were correct, but there were a few smaller ones that hadn't shown up yet. When I called back, they verified my credits without me prompting them on what it should be.

I'm a long time customer, about 10 years, never been late, and had 2 phones out of contract. I called retention, got offered 2 free A900 phones, said I really wanted a 6700 and they offered it to me for $299, then $249, and I ended up getting it for $199 and still got a free A900. Received my bill, and was billed $399 for the phone! Called retention back, got someone very rude who told me NOBODY gets the 6700 for $199 and there's no way I negotiated that! When I persisted he offered me another A900 for free, but I had to send the 6700 back first. I've already bought accessories for it! When I asked to speak to his manager, he refused. I said I'll just call back, he said I was more than welcomed to call back, but that I would NEVER get the 6700 for $199. I said I would probably cancel and he said he could assist me with that right now! He said retention and cancellation were the same department. I spend $124 a month, and just like that, he will assist me to cancel my account! I can almost live with the humor of it all, but I can't stand rudeness! I hate to leave Sprint, but I'm already looking at Verizon. Any thoughts?

Well, i am a year into my renewal contract, been with sprint like 4 years.. never a late payment. and i just called retentions , and they wanted to charge me $150 for an A800 to renew for 2 years.
Man, after hearing of them offering all these new phones for almost nothing, i was shocked that all i asked for was 2 A800's (no changes to my plan at all) , and she wouldnt go below $150 for the phone for one line! and $225 for the other A800 for the other line.

i asked her if she could do 2 A800's for $150, and renew for 2 more years. NOPE! she wouldnt budge because i had about 11 months before my contract was up she said.

Am i asking for too much here?

disappointed :(

If you're not within a month of your contract expiration, it's not worth it to try to call retentions. What happens if you don't like your offer? You can really cancel (and deal with the hefty ETF) or stay. They don't care. Perhaps they'd like you to cancel mid-contract so you can be charged an ETF!

Well I tried calling retentions tonight, and they confirmed that big changes were made on the first of August. I was offered 500 texts free, and 15% off my monthly bill. No more free vision, and no more unlimited texts. I tried. My 2 year contract expires on the 12th...
I also tried for a free Katana on the 2nd line, but they "offered" $150 off to me. I declined since I can get it from Costco for $50 with accessories included.

So are the days of free vision really gone? I have 3 $'s, but that doesn't seem to have much weight in the retentions dept.

As Prez808 mentioned retention is cracking down big time to prevent further abuse of the system. I guess I'm surprised it took this long to happen.

The customer used to be able to negotiate a price on a new phone...Retention now has the approach what is the customer eligible for under the upgrade program.

yup, and although the girl i spoke to was very nice, she basically went right by what i was eligible for according to my upgrade status. she did slightly budge and offer me the full $150 off of an A800, even tho it has only been 12 months since my last upgrade.
but thats all she could do she said.

That was ok, but after hearing of people getting basically any phone they want for nothing, i wasnt that thrilled with that deal.. oh well , i shoulda called a few weeks ago... :indiff:

Well after having a horrible experience a few days ago with a retention rep about the 6700 I bought for $199 and then got charge $399 for, tonight my faith in Sprint has been restored! I was supposed to hear back today from Sprint about the overcharge on the 6700. After not hearing from anyone, I called retention and talked to a very nice gentleman, who took the extra charges off for the 6700, and adjusted what my next bill was to be. What I don't understand is that he was able to do it in less than 5 minutes. The other two I talked to, one was extremely rude and offered to cancel my account, and the other, although extremely nice, couldn't do anything but send an email to the original rep that sold me the phone, to try and see if they could verify the sell for $199. Go figure! Oh well, I'm now happy and my confidence in Sprint has been restored.

I am just wondering how does everyone know how and what to say when negotiating the price of phones and the plans, whether it be more minutes or texting and vision. I have a Sanyo 2300 and personally, i hate it. I don't have a texting plan and have no vision. What i really want is the 6700. My friend has "the V" from verizon and he said it's awesome. I suppose the 6700 is the closest thing to "the V" as sprint has. But i am also wondering, say i got the 6700 for really cheap, like 199 or something, and i ended up not liking it. Do i just deal with it or can i return it saying it did not function correctly and they would give me the A920 and another freebie. Any help on my situation would be lovely.

Thanks.

Hi all. A couple of rentention questions...forgive me if they have been answered before...

Spoke to a terrific guy at Retentions today. We even chatted about Pro wrestling, but anyway, he gave me 1000 minutes for $40,which i loved. He was unable to fufill another request from me

But,Iwas wondering for any SU could help with some info:

Verizon offered to pay 1/2 of my buy out for my Sprint account. THe guy there alsoo offered to give me an educators discount. Sprint told me they could not do that unless I was in some teachers credit union. I am not. THe verizon salesman could it on the spot. I explained this to the gent, but, his supervisor would not budge. He was nice, but could do no more. He wasn't even aware that Moto phones were coming to Sprint...

I don't want to sound greedy,but I wonder:

Can they or is there an educator discount? OR a university student one? I am both.

Can they couple that with the 5 or 10% loyalty discount?

Am I pressing my luck? IS the 10% still being offered--I've seensome conflicting reports.

Finally, I know that sprint is about to change the $150 credit on the new phone program..Ihave no desire to press them for more of a discount on a phone, but do you know if this credit *For owning aphone for 2 years--can be combined with the $50 for turning in your old phone?

THanks for your help.

This site is great...

I just called and got 2 new phones for free (LG Fusic and an A-800 for my wife, although she told me i could pick ANY phones I wanted including the PDA phones). I got my plan (i'm sure it's not the best deal but better than what i had)..

1500 shared
7pm nw
pcs-pcs
no roaming costs
20% discount off the $89.99 price or the plan
unlimited text
power vision for free (although i'm not sure the a-800 supports it becasue their site has conflicting info)
$0 upront cost (waived activation/free shipping)..
monthly = $71.99 + tax

It's tiem to say goodbye to sprint. I get this great offer I agree to a 2yr extension and my phones were supposed to be here today. I call back to see if i can get tracking info, since its pretty late in the day.

I get a rep who tells me they need my CC# to ship my phones. She acknowledges the account says i'm supposed to have these phones shipped for delivery today (becuase I was on vacation) and that there is no mention of price but now she wants to charge me.

She makes me a offer thats not 1/2 of the offer I was given just over a week ago, and then proceeds to tell me that once I hang up the offer is no longer good. So I told here thats fine.

I ask for her to at least confirm my plan change and the offer I was given there. Funny, my plan change is missing from their system too.. I confirmed it the next day with another rep and now this rep says i'm just back on my old plan with no changes..

Well my contract expires in 2 weeks so its goodbye sprint hello someone with better phones (oh wait thats every carrier besides cricket). If they want to lose a customer who has been there for 5 years, has no spending limit, who's been spending $130-$180/mo and who was looking to add 2 more lines in a fewe months then thats fine by me.

I asked this rep to send a message for the original rep so she can return my call. I somehow doubt my deal will show up in the system anymore.

Could this just be a rep trying to steal the ret credit? Or is this part of their new no offers for our good clients deal. Either way it sucks. I';m not askign for more than I was offered.. I never asked for any of the discounts they offered me, but once we made a verbal agreement they are required to live up to their end IMHO.

Well.. I know a few answers to a few of your questions but not all.

FIrst...I am not sure what educator discount they may have...sprint has tons of discounts for various companies and government run places..however I do know you can combine that discount with a loyalty discount as I have it on my account and many others on here have too.

As for the 150 credit being combined w/ the 50 dollar phone buyback. This can be done too. I got the 150 credit 6 months ago and they bought my vga1000 back for 50 bucks.

Hope this helps!

This is an awesome thread. My plan ends this month, in a week, and my phones are dying bad. So after reading this whole thread and growing some cajones, I gave a call. Talked to a wonderful rep and we just chatted the whole time. Basically just told her my plan was ending, our phones were dying, and I liked the basics of my plan, but what was available.

Original:
2000 Anytime
M2M
Unlimited txt
Free vision
8pm N&W
Had this plan for 4 years. About 115 after taxes in TX. 2 A680 phones.

Current:
2000 Anytime + 200 minutes free
M2M
Unlimited txt
PV Plus Pack
6pm N&W
15% off my bill
Free Fusic and a PPC-6700 for 150 (maybe less). :headbang2
Not sure on the final price, but I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with it.

Just wanted to say thanks for the thread that inspired me to call. Good luck to everyone else!

Do not call Sprint to attempt to get better deals unless you have been shopping at other carriers. We at Sprint will not offer anything to anyone who is just attempting to play the system.

Also just because your friend got something doesn't mean you are going to get it or deserve it. everyone has a different account.

Its the attitude people receive when they call. I can understand what you are saying, but its how you say it that turn people off.

When I called I didn't threaten, argue, yell, nothing. I just called and talked to see what's available. We chatted, I told her what I liked, and she told me what they had and what she could do.

As they say, you get more flies with honey than vinegar. Works both ways. But this is off-topic for this thread, so I'll leave it at that.

you won't get much sympathy here.. for as much money sprint makes, and loyal customers who they "do" take advantage of , i don't think its such a horrible thing to give a little back to some of their loyal customers who want to continue their service with sprint.

So, if they give out some phones for free , its not a big deal to them.. the money is in their plans & data plans.. the whole rebate "new for you" upgrade program is a sham anyway , they should be handing a free phone to you after 2 years, to keep you. not give you a discount..

You cannot say it isn't poor CS, because it is. The string of bad luck I have with reps is unbearable. Calling after every 2 out of 3 bills to fix something by Sprint's err. I call to change things, and get them changed wrong, or they slip in something for additional charges. Alot of us deserve a little back after all the money we spend for the unbalanced service we receive. So shush. I'm about to cancel my 3 lines today, due to the horrid CS (my girlfriend doesn't wanna take it anymore). ANNNNNND, that was after I was able to get us a sweet deal with retentions, which she didn't complain about. JUST THE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Zeeshan
08-17-2006, 01:38 PM
Customer service is the #1 Reason people cancel sprint. The phone service is good, power vision is great, phone selection is decent, plans are reasonably prices, but customer service? 3 out of 10.

All of my family and friends used to have sprint, but now 90% of them have gone with cingular or verizon due to better customer service, even though there were happy with the phones, and plans. I'm the only loyal one that stuck, because I did get a decent retentions deal. Nobody else wanted to even try to get a deal, they just wanted a different carrier altogether, and are paying more money for the same plan, but are happier.

But I stayed around, and will be around for another 2 years since I resigned, but whatever. Point is, lots of people cancel due to customer service issues.

My account has 5 $ signs....I have been told by sprint reps that I am rated one of the highest valued customers. However a couple reps, when i called retentions, still treated me like absolute crap, and when I said i've been shopping verizon, and this is the deal on phones their giving me, and I may cancel to go there, the pretty much told me, "we cant do anything, you're better off with them"...*** is that???? When i KNOW they could have offered me better than those reps did. $150 off a Treo 700, and the rest of the phones i wanted $75 off. That's BS, because when i got a good rep, i got the TWO Treo's for $99 each, a free katana, and 2 katanas for $79 each. So when i'm so highly rated, why are some reps treating me like low level garbage, and some treating be the way a customer should be treated...high rating or not?

Most of you have valid points here, but this horse has been beat to death. Sprint's customer service is horrible. Please, let's stay on topic.

The sad thing is, no matter how desperately I want to switch from them, Sprint is 40 dollars cheaper with absolutely no discount or special retention plan (aka - full price) than the closest competitor, Verizon, for what I want. And my company has a 17% discount with Verizon.

It's just kind of sad really...

Ok I just got off the phone with retentions. First try was a bust cause the guy wasnt really wanting to give me anything other then a 150 off whatever phone i wanted. Hung up and got a rep who was by far the best rep I have ever spoken to over the phone anywhere. I was on the phone for about 50-55 minutes and it worked out really well.
I had only 1 line but wanted to add a phone to give to my girlfriend.
Let me first explain what my old plan was.
350 anytime minutes for $35
unlimited N&W-nights starting @ 8pm
PCS to PCS
Vision for $15

Here is what I got
A900 for free Katana for $79
1200 minutes Shared for $60
unlimited N&W- Nights starting @ 7pm for both phones
500 Texts for each phone free
Power Vision for the A900 for $10
Regular Vision for Free for the Katana
plus 10% loyalty.

Im really happy with the plan, only thing I would have liked differnt was not having to pay for the phone at all but according to her alot has changed since the start of the month so she wasn't able to budge. That and now my girlfriend and I can talk pcs to pcs and not have to worry about going over our minutes anymore!!!!

You could get it free...sort of.

wirefly has it "free" after rebate.

You could call up and tell them you want to cancel the second line, and order it through wirefly to get the rebate.

They may credit your account to match, instead of going through the cancellation process because it's eaiser.

That's what I did....and they did.

Hey everyone, tell me if i can get a better deal with sero pls. I read lots here and on sprintusers and got the following: was 1.5 y into my contract with poor reception at home once i moved in july. So, after much wrangling I got a Katana for 60$ (no need for rebates), 1000min (not f&clear), free unlim sms text msgs, n&w 7p free, free roaming (needed it over FIFM cause of poor reception) for 40$. ALSO, got 23%corp discount.
Ive been with sprint for 8 years and I couldnt believe that I was paying them out the nose when I came across al this info.. nyways, anyone think I can get any better? How bout power vision free or something?...dont even really know if it works on katana.......Thanks all!

You can post up your situation here, and people that have already dealt with retentions will help out as much as they can, (like me and many others). Im sure theyre still doing it, at least i think pat is, but due to popularity, he probably wont be able to get to your stuff too quickly.

I would say probably not, unless you are near the end of your contract, and you are looking to get more minutes, otherwise Im guessing they can't do too much for you, possibly at 10% loyalty discount, but with the new rules they might be more hesistant especically considering you already have a 10% business discount.

1) How long have you been w/ SPCS?

3.5 years

2) How many lines do you have?

1 but brought entire family with me- 4 contracts with multiple lines per contract. If I leave sprint- they do too.

6) How well have you made your payments?

Very well.

7) When are your phones eligible for replacement?

75 rebate in december. Had dead phone- got a used one from mother. They took away my rebate. I complained how new customers get the deals and the ones paying a 100 a month didnt. They said they would send a free one- which they wound up chargiing me for- with a 75 dollar discount. mm8300. was not happy about it. Don't care for flip phones. If i had tp pay anyways- they should have let me choose which phone I wanted to apply a discount to.

8) Have you called and gotten a lot of credits?

No.

9) What is your current plan?

F&F 750 minute cap? 59.99 I believe. Only use 500 a month. N&W @ 9 still. Grandfather Vision @ $10 includes text messaging. ( the only good thing i have left froom sprint)

All the other cell phone companies give my company a discount BUT Sprint.
20% a month!
I only have a 3% USAA discount.

I'd leave but have to switch my ENTIRE family- and thats not going to be the easiest. ALot of contracts to break or let run out. Sprint kinda has me tied.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If you can help me- give me a wish list nd I'll see what I can do :)

Woah! Long time lurker, first time poster...

My treo 650 is dying... like buttons are quitting, headphone jack... I really would like a 700p before this thing quits. I'm actually quite pleased with the plan I'm on, it suits my needs quite well.

I know that sprint revamped pretty much everything this month, and I'm just trying to feel out my options here.

1) How long have you been w/ SPCS?
Since 1999

2) How many lines do you have?
Just 1.

3) Do you have a spending limit?
Nope

4) If you have a spending limit, what is it?
Unlimited!

5) When does your contract expire?
December 2006

6) How well have you made your payments?
Never late.

7) When are your phones eligible for replacement?
Eligible now, but retention offered me the $150 discount over the usual $75 a few months early.

8) Have you called and gotten a lot of credits?
No, not really. Not since 2002. When I got put on my current plan...

9) What is your current plan?
1000 Anytime, long distance included ($50)
3000 N/W @ 8pm
500 Sprint to Sprint
1st incoming minute free
50 minutes off network roaming
Vision w/ pictures ($10)
Unlimited SMS ($5)

10) What kind of phones do you want?
Treo 700p (Can I get this for less than $200 now?) Sprint was offering me just $150 off when I spoke with them today. That makes it $499.

11) What kind of plan are you looking to get?
Pretty much the same, a few more anytime minutes are always nice...
Unlimited N/W @ 6pm
Unlimited Sprint to Sprint
Free Roaming
Business discount (government)
Loyalty discount (this one was offered by retention today, was around 20%. Was going to save me like $10 off my 50 bill)

Thanks, this place has been an awesome resource.

Original post...
I get an 8% discount a month and thats just for being a USAA member. I'm pretty sure the USAA discount for an employee is 20% so you might wanna call sprint and have them look into that because it should definitely be higher than 3%

Edit: I think I may have misunderstood you, do you work for USAA or do you just get a USAA member discount?

1) How long have you been w/ SPCS?
Since 1999 (7 years OMG)

2) How many lines do you have?
1 Account w/ 2 Phones sharing minutes (Friends&Family)

3) Do you have a spending limit?
Yes

4) If you have a spending limit, what is it?
$100(ish)

5) When does your contract expire?

Hmm.. usually pay every 2 months, so I guess it's late, but with the $5 late fees, I'd say Im overpaying. :)

7) When are your phones eligible for replacement?
Eligible now.

8) Have you called and gotten a lot of credits?
Nope, never really got much of anything.

9) What is your current plan?
Main line:
-800 Anytime, nationwide: $70.00
-Unl N/W @ 9pm
-Free PCS-to-PCS
-PowerVision Access Pack: $15.00
-100 SMS: $5
2nd Phone:
-500 SMS: $8
-PowerVision Access Pack: $15.00
TOTAL: $113.00

10) What kind of phones do you want?
Want to keep my MM-9000 and Wife's a900, but would like to add a 3rd phone: Treo 700wx, and would like to get the $150 credit for that phone.

11) What kind of plan are you looking to get?
I saw someone else on page 15 get a similar plan to this and it looked good to me:

-1200 minutes Shared for $60
-unlimited N&W- Nights starting @ 7pm for both phones
-500 Texts for each phone free
-Power Vision for each phone for $10/each
-10% loyalty
-50 min off-network Roaming.
TOTAL: $80

The key thing is that I'd like to get this retention plan, and also the $150 off the Treo 700wx. Can I bargain for both the retention plan and the Treo discount if I sign up for another 2yr plan?

I would like to pay $200 for the treo, tops $250, and would like to see if i can get the katana for free. Let me know if this is possible thank you.

One contract is up, but one has a long time left...but to resign that one, you SHOULD be able to get a pretty decent deal on the Treo. I would say asking for $199 would be possible....however i wouldn't count on the free power vision. You could probably talk them into getting you free regular vision for the Katana, and paying for powervision, but probably can get them to do $10 off on the powervision...so the basic data pack would only run you $5, or with pictures pack $10.

The katana, most likely, will not be free. They are too new. You MIGHT be able to talk them down to $79 (thats how much i got it for), but thats for the second line that is STILL under contract, so its going to be tough. when i made my deals, it was because 4 out or 5 lines were out of contract, we had a large account and high priced.

Remember, if the first rep isnt a huge help, just be polite, say thank you, and call back. You may hit a rep thats ready to do what you need. But its going to take some bargaining, and you have to remember to be very flattering and complimenting to get what you want.

Hmmm...since you're only 10 months into your contract, its going to be quite tough to get much out of sprint. Most likely theyre going to offer you the 18 month upgrade discount early, and thats about it.

As far as your grandfathered vision goes, theyre doing theyre best to get people out of that so they have to pay for text AND vision seperate. With the 6700, if you get it, you'll have to switch to power vision, and if that 6700 and pwr vision is on the main line, then you're going to have to switch everyones vision and text. For you at this point, it might not be TOO beneficial to do anything. maybe you want to hold out till the contract is up and get KILLER deals on stuff, rather than resign for 2 years now and just get mediocre deals.

You hit it right on the nose, when you said above that sprint kinda has you tied, they do, and they know it. you dont have a very heavy bargaining chip right now, sorry to say. But hey, its ALWAYS worth a try. You may get a great rep after a few calls that is ready to give you what you want, although with your situation, the greatest rep will still not give you a whole lot. Either way, the only thing left to do is call and see what they can do for you, for your sake i hope they do what you need! If i was you though, i would tough it out till the contract expires, then get an AWESOME deal to resign. At that point they'll be desperate to keep your 4 lines with them.

Thanks, this place has been an awesome resource.

Remember, if you get the treo, you're going to have to change your plan to a powervision plan, which will change most likely the price of the vision and text.

Yes you can get treos for under $200 now, i got mine for $99. HOWEVER my advice to you would be...wait! You've only got 4 months until your contract is up, at that point with your old plan, you'll be able to get a great deal on the treo, plus a new plan, and probably pay the same or less on a plan with way more perks. Maybe you can talk them into free powervision, free text, loyalty discount, free roam, n&w at 6pm, etc etc. When you're contract is up, you'll be able to ask for lots of stuff. I would wait the 4 months. In the meantime, just switch to a cheaper phone if the treo goes out....that will in fact be another reason to get a better phone when you call retentions in december. You can say, hey my treo died so i got the POS 8100, or whatever, because the phones through sprint were too expensive. VZW is now offering me the treo 700 at $99 and its looking mighty nice with the phone and plans theyre offering me...what can you offer to keep a loyal customer another 2 years?

I saw someone else on page 15 get a similar plan to this and it looked good to me:

-1200 minutes Shared for $60
-unlimited N&W- Nights starting @ 7pm for both phones
-500 Texts for each phone free
-Power Vision for each phone for $10/each
-10% loyalty
-50 min off-network Roaming.
TOTAL: $80

The key thing is that I'd like to get this retention plan, and also the $150 off the Treo 700wx. Can I bargain for both the retention plan and the Treo discount if I sign up for another 2yr plan?

Unfortunately paying every 2 months will be hurting your credit with sprint, so thats one negative point they will look at, however its small in comparison to the fact you've been with them for 7 years. Im not too sure how they'll take that.

You should be able to get the Treo 700 for a lot less than the $150 discount...which would be $499. If you wait till january, when your contract is up, you could probably get them to give you the Treo for like $199, and two other phones for your other 2 lines for free or cheap (like A900's, or katanas). If you want to keep your current phones on your account the way they are, you can always just sell the free or cheap phones you get and make a little profit..enough to cover the bill for a couple months, or pay for that Treo to technically make it free.

Tell them you know someone with that plan you mentioned above, and it shouldnt be a problem. If i was you, i would call 4 or 5 times to see if that stuff can be done...and if not, then i'de wait till january till the contract is up, and then you'll get what you want and maybe more.

I have a question about this. When I was selling SprintPCS and they introduced ASL's, they told us to sell it on one of the points that you didn't HAVE to pay your bill every month. They said that it gave the customer the flexibiliy to pay their bill when they want to.

I guess this isn't really the case?

10) What kind of phones do you want?

I am most interested in the Treo 700p currently. I just stumbled across the ebay site that offered the 700p for 79.00, and drooled until i saw the new contract restictions :)

11) What kind of plan are you looking to get?

The SERO plan is what i've been looking at to a great extent. I do not need that much in the way of minutes, but i like the other options, key features would be: free Power Vision, and free SMS, nights and weekends starting at least at 7pm, 6pm would be even better.

So what do you guys think? It's pretty basic right now, seems like SERO by it's self would be a decent choice, especially if i could swing a great deal on the 700p.

I'm not 100% sure. But the way i see it, if you can pay every other month, then why the late fees? I mean, maybe it doesnt hurt, but im just looking at it in that point of view that late is late.

You can get a pretty nice deal. You've been with sprint long enough, you have older phones on the account, and all your phones are out of contract (other than 1).

Heres the plan for you! And im only suggesting this because your situation is VERY similar to what mine was, and this is what I currently have after talking with retentions.

Fair and Flexible Family plan
2200 anytime mins
unl. nights and weekends 7pm
unl. m2m
$109.99

OR

same plan as above, but only 2000 anytime mins at $99.99

Each add a phone for you im guessing is $20, which was the same for me. With that plan, the add a phones will be $10 each...saving $30 a month right there.

You should be able to get a new phone for every phone on the account....maybe you wanna upgrade that 650 to a 700?? if not, then might as well pick up a treo 700 for that account for around $199, which is about the going rate of the treo's from sprint right now, and sell it and make a couple hundred bucks....or if you REALLY wanna be nice, sell to a member here for cheap who wants to upgrade, like $300 and still make $100 for yourself :) You MIGHT be able to get the rep to get it to you for $99, just tell them thats what Verizon's offering if you port your number to them.

The LG's should be no problem to pick of at no cost.

The 6700 will have to be paid for. Between $99 and $199.
The treo, same deal. $99 to $199
The BB, I dont know anything about because I dont know anyone that has gotten that phone. If not free, then you will have to pay the after rebate price, which as advertised online is $199.

However, if you want something a little better than the LG's, then these days sprints been giving out A900's like halloween candy, so you can give that a go. They offered me free A900's, but i took katana's and paid $79 each for them (thats what the family wanted).

Now for goodies....you can get a 20% loyalty discount off your bill for sure. I got them to give me 100 free text messages for 3 of my lines (my mom, dad, and company employee, who havnt used 100 texts in their LIFETIME!) and my wife and I got unlimited texts for $7.50 for BOTH LINES, so about $3.75 each. How that works is, they were charging $8 for my line (which is the primary) and $7.50 on hers...but I get an $8 courtesy credit, so my line becomes free.

PowerVision - I have no vision on 3 lines (same thing, mom, dad, and employee) and power vision pictures/video pack ($20 one) on my wife's and my line. They will offer you $10 off on yours, and half price on the secondary. So the primary's will be $10, and secondary will also be $10 (half of $20). With mine, I also got them to give me a recurring monthly courtesy credit of $10 for vision. So my wife and I are paying $10 for pv pictures/vid pack for BOTH lines.

Now it depends on how many lines you want vision/powervision, texting, etc etc etc. And if you want any more goodies, you'll just have to talk to the rep. but you WILL get a good deal. If not the first time, call and call again. I got lucky and got the rep of my dreams the 3rd time around.

The way it sits, i dont know my official bill will be, but they messed up on the first one and i got lots of credits and talked them into some more, so my first bill is only going to be $65 this month :D, but every month after that when its normal, my bill should be around $140-150 with tax, will find out next month. Thats down from $230.XX with tax i've been paying.

You should be able to do the same and cut your bill by the $50 a month you're hoping, as well as get new phones accross the board. You are adding a new line apparently, so that number will vary, but all in all, you'll get more for your money. If you need any specific questions answered, feel free to pm.

I was offered the phones at:

6700 $300
A920 $50
LX350 $25
Fusic $80

Nights and weekend starting at 7 PM.
500 text each line.
Vission or Power vission $10 first line, $5 each additional line.
10% off base plane.
Reduction of extra lines to a add-a-phone charge of $10 (not 20) still with one free.

Ideas and oppinions?

You should be able to get all the phones you want at or around the price you are looking to pay. My suggestion would be to either wait until closer to when your contract expires or call and press the fact you wanna add a new line but your not sure unless they can do something for you with the rest of your lines. With the new retention guidlines, its hard to tell what exactly they will do for you, before then it was pretty easy to tell what they were and werent willing to do. Im not sure if I answered any of your questions, but if you have anymore feel free to PM me, I have 4 lines as well and recntly used retentions to get 4 free A900's as well as a better plan.

I emailed the Retention Guru over a month ago. Is he not doing this anymore? If anything I just need some tips on how to change my family plan to SERO and keep all the extras that I have. Do I need to change to SERO then ask for the extras later or do it all at the same time. When I spoke with sprint before they told me that I would pay the termination fee in order to get SERO.

My apologies, I was at work and didn't have the time or feel the need to mention how to CORRECTLY answer the question... when they can read through the thread and see the proper answers for 'spending limits', 'replacement eligibility' and anything else they could've logically figured out. welll i have 3 lines right now. i'm thinking about getting 2 x a900 for free and a treo 700p for about $75 bux. is that possible? since the new a900 are coming out soon, and the treo700wx is coming out too. doesn't that drop old phoens lower? which means that i can extened contract and get those without a problem? how would i ask retention for thos breaks in the price for a phone and a 15-20% off monthly bill? maybe free power vision and or unlimited data usage? plus text and nights at 6 or 7

Once your contract expires, it is definitely a possibility. Send me a PM with your e-mail and we can start discussing things. And by no means am I a retentions GURU but I've weasled my way to good deals because people like us deserve to be treated right. Loyalty discount of 15% will be no problem, seeing as you've paid your bill on time and in full (i'm guessing) every month. The free perks (vision, text, etc.) can be made through eCare. Like I said, I'm here at work so I can't spend much time explaining all of this with you at the moment. Talk to you later.

Inspired by this thread I called Sprint, told them how much I love the phones, service, the customer service, etc.....then asked if there was anyhting that they could do for me.

BAM 500 text messages for free.

Not a tremendous amount of $$ saved, but hey, it's better than $5/mth for 300txt.

My experiences is that a sincere approach is best. If you are angry about something, express that calmly and politely and allow them to make you happy. If you are just looking for a deal, ask questions about the things you want and suggest (again, politely) that in consideration of your long association with Sprint that you are interested in whatever help they can offer in making your plan better to make you happier.

I have had some miscommunications from sales reps and "counter technicians" that I have used as leverage when asking for freebies and discounts. I explain that what I see on my bill is not what I was told at the store and how can we fix things. An example is I got a free A920 using my $150 credit for the phone tradein and nothing was mentioned about Vision not working on the new phone for tethered connectivity. I had to sign up for the unlimited Phone As Modem plan (PAM) at $39.99, but it turns out that PAM does not recieve the employer discounts. They eventually gave me a 15% discount on PAM only, and a 10% loyalty discount so that it would equal to the 25% discount employer discount I have on the plan. They also eliminated the $10 monthly charge for the phone on that line.

My plan:
1000 ATM - $50
7PM NW - Free
M2M - Free
Roaming - Free
1 add a phone - free
2 add a phones - $10 each
PAM - $39.99
15% discount (PAM ONLY)
10% Customer Loyalty Discount (whole plan)
25% Employer Discount (whole plan - PAM)
