View Full Version : Great Retention Offer, but how do I get cheaper phones?

Thanks to MsRandall who, through previous posts, gave me some great tips on contacting retention...

Previously, my wife and I had two separate, non-vision plans:

Me:$34.99:
650 anytime
3000 N&W at 8
5% affiliation discount
$6 equip protection

Wife: $40:
750 anytime
3000 N&W at 8
5% affiliation discount
$6 equip protection
free PCS to PCS

They will give us the following on a shared plan:

$75.00
1500 anytime
unlimited N&W at 7
Power Vision for free - both lines
500 SMS on one line, unlimited on second
(I forgot to ask about free PCS to PCS but I'm sure they'd include it)

I'd be pretty happy with this plan - it's the same as what we're paying now, with much more included. However, I wanted a good deal on 2 LG Fusic phones or 2 Samsung A920s.

The best he could give me was $130 EACH for the Fusics, or $75 EACH for the A920s. He could offer me a better deal on the A900, but I'm not interested due to its battery life.

I told him I was very happy with what he was offering but needed to think more about those phone prices. He assured me that this deal was locked in the system and even gave me his user ID in case someone had any questions about this plan, should I call back.

My question to you is: how do I get those Fusics down to a cheaper price? Do I just call back and see what they can offer? Any tips?

Thanks in advance.

Call retentions back, see what they can offer for the phones. You can probably pricematch them down more once you receive them.

I doubt you can get those phone prices any lower. My suggestion would be to make up and issue with your current phones and tell them you are considering canceling because of it. But you got a sweet plan, I can't see them dipping any lower on the phones.

You have a good plan but Im sure you can work out a better deal on the phones. Just call back and ask for a better deal on the phones and then you will re-new the contracts. If anything, I KNOW they can do a better deal on the A920s...dont know about the Fusics since they are still fairly new.

Thanks for the tips. Just by calling back, they lowered the Fusic prices to $79.99 each instead of $130 each. Seriously, just by calling back. And they bumped the Power Vision plan to Plus instead of Access, and gave unlimited text on both phones instead of 500 on one.

Sprint did great by me! Thanks to everyone in this forum who has posted their plans - they were a great help. I'll post mine in the other thread.

jayladdin,

are you paying anything to the extra line?
