View Full Version : Good Family Share Plan?

-- My 2-year committment is up on July 14. The only reason I may turn to Cingular is for their roll-over minutes.

-- My current plan with Sprint is:
Family Share (2 lines only); 500 minutes; free N/W (nights @ 9:00p); free M/M; cost: $59.99

-- I would like a plan like this:
Family Share (2 regular lines + [2 additional lines @ $9.99 each]); as close to 1000 minutes as possible; free N/W (nights at 7:00p); free M/M; cost: $59.99 (hopefully) [mother and mother-in-law will pay for their own phone line @ $9.99 each]

-- The only feature I would like to upgrade on my phone is Bluetooth. I guess a 1.3Mp picture phone would be cool, but not necessary. I currently have the Samsung VI660

So how possible is it for me to request my plan and free bluetooth phones through retentions? The key thing is the minutes, since I will be sharing this with two more family members. I'm not too concerned about extra perks like text messaging, multimedia, and the such. Just bluetooth and minutes.

Thanks!
Jim

I would think that you have a pretty good shot at the plan that dand411 has, especially if you have good payment history with Sprint. It seems to be a common plan offered thru retention, without the extras. It seems you have to ASK for those. I personally really like the 6pm nights and Sprint to home. It sounds like the Sprint to home would be really useful for you since you have your mother and MIL both on your plan. That way, they could call your home free. Definitely ask for PCS-to-PCS, also.

I would write down everything that you feel is essential to your plan so you don't forget something when you're talking to them. Get the basics of the plan squared away and then start negotiating for the free phones. I would think that if you're not asking for the moon with the plan, you will probably have a good shot at your new bluetooth phone!

Good luck and let us know how it turns out for you!

That's a gimmick. Most people I know who have rollover, never or rarely use them. The ones who are chatters, never have any to roll.

Shared 800 minute plan is $69.99
Shared 1500 minuted plan is $89.99

m2m is included
7 pm nights is included

If I were adding 2 additional lines, I would negotiate for 6pm nights for free.

Far as I recall from retentions, they don't have any promotional family plans, but they may do something considering you are adding 2 additional lines.

It's very likely they will offer you either free or discounted phones. Keep in mind that sites like wirefly.com give phones away for free with new activations. Rententions may match them.

Awesome! Thank you for your responses! One question: What is Sprint to Home, and how does it work? How would this be a good service to have?

sprint to home - free calls between your home # and any of your sprint phones. incoming and outgoing.

the thing to consider about cingular and roll over is if its worth it to overpay each month to "stock up" minutes. I prefer sprint where if I go over I have a small charge instead of paying more each month to add up minutes that I may never use. That's just me though, I know some people take comfort with rollover. If you blow through them though, your screwed.

They do have Family plans an they at least I think they are
You should be able to get something like i got also which is close to dand411

I got this plan 2 years ago but I got a little more free crap this year plus i got 2 free a900 and a 700p for $300. When i added on the extra line last month they were really happy to give me more stuff, so kinda make that you bargaining chip, it helped me at least.

Here is my plan :td:

the 69.99 plan for 800 minutes is pretty close to what you are wanting. if you can get a business or credit union discount you should be set.

in anycase, the other carriers family plans aren't close to your price at all.

Check out the retentions threads...there are tons of deals listed in there so you will have some negotiating power when you sign up for a new plan. There are a few things that you can get added onto your plan at no or little cost (vision, SMS) and if you dont need them ask for some sort of loyalty discount. Be nice and they will be willing to help.
