Hi Gang,

I searched for this first, just so you know, and did not come up with the results I was looking for. I would appreciate it if someone could take a look at my question and provide an answer.

I have a grandfathered early-adopter vision plan, which is as follows:

* $44.99 PCS Free & Clear with Vision
* all Minutes Include Long Distance
* 500 Anytime Minutes
* 4000 Night and Weekend Minutes
* nights: M-Th 9PM-7AM Wknd: F 9PM-M 7AM
* unlimited Mb Of PCS Vision
* caller ID, Call Waiting
* three-way Calling
* voicemail
* Additional Anytime Minutes $.40 Per Min.

I recently purchased the LG Fusic phone, and activated it. When I was speaking to the representative activating the phone, he mentioned very quickly that my plan would not work with this phone and that I should change it. I started to feel a freak-out coming, but quickly stopped it, because I knew I could post my question here. I carefully guard my plan and do not want to lose it.

I use the phone's Web features ONLY for wireless access to Gmail and Yahoo mail. Not for anything related to vision services like "ringtones" and "wallpapers" and streamed clips of the Sopranos and stuff like that. I just want to use my unlimeted data vision plan for the simple stuff I always have used it for. Which is simple, web surfing in a pinch if I need to check something.

So - was the representative I spoke to correct? Am I going to start seeing crazy charges on my account now every time I use the wireless Web? Should I just bail on this phone and go back to my samsung A680?

Thanks in advance for your advice.
JH

just have rentention upgrade your old Vision to Power Vision, should be an easy call. was for me. while you're at it why not ask for a loyalty discount as well, since you've apparently been around a while =)

juniorhawk, i was also wondering this back when i got my a940 through sprint. this was back in christmas time when the first ev-do phones were bring rolled out, but i activated my 940 on my plan with the u/l grandfathered vision, and it worked fine for me for five months (til i got a new phone) but i never got charged once for PV usage, and i am a heavy user too, so you should be fine. i would go through the first month and see what happens, then if you do get charged for it, then call retention IMO

Now this is what I did....just posted it in another thread....

I have a discounted power vision plan that isn't quite any of the standard three they offer. We were under the old vision plan and I really wanted to upgrade to the EVDO speeds so they offered us this plan:

First line = $10
Second line = $5

That includes unlimited internet access and data but you do not get the regular TV channels except for Sirius hits(which has 1 station) and ABC News Now. It also has a few channels that are basically previews of stuff. Also includes picture mail but does not include video mail.
Now if I scroll down to the "available channels" and browse them it says for an additional amount of money I can upgrade to the Sprint TV Plus and get the few channels more for another $4.95 per line (but then why not just get the regular $15 plan to begin with right?) or the Ultimate channel line up for an additional $7.95(sounds like the better way to go to save money)

Also with this plan you can add Unlimited text messaging:

First line = $5
Second line = $2.50

I ended up getting this plan somehow through technical support so I don't know if it is offered through customer care or retentions. Was told even if you upgrade the channels this way the only things you will not get are the video mail or the live streaming vidoe news.

So far I think it's not too bad a deal since we are paying about the same amount as our old vision plan.

it is bvetter if you are in your contract period, but even if not if you are grandfathered vision I would not keep the grandfathered vision and change to the retention power vsion plans.

It is easy as pie to get the follwoing:
SPRINT POWER VISION PACK $10 with $0, $5 or $10 recurring credit
Sprint 500 txt messages $8 with $8 credit

so you can eaisly get powervsion for $0 to $10 per month to replace your grandfathered vsion.

The only differences are as follows
1) it will like pv plus included video mail
2) it will include only tv channels of basic pv
3) you get 500 free txts instead of ulmimted with your old grandfathered vision.

I would change this right aways since it is no loss unless you are using over 500 txts. even so you could push for a discount of $5 or $10 ont he PV and just take $8 offr the higher unlimted text instead of the 500 txts..

the standradr retenion power vsion pack deal will include video mail. they add it seperately for free.

I have unlimited SMS on the $5 retention EVDO plan...so it is possible to get it as opposed to just 500...I have unlimited on my old vision plan...to the OP, for the time being, you can keep your old plan and will not be charged for using vision access...you will automatically get EVDO speeds even with your old plan because it is backwards compatible...eventually, we've heard this loophole will close, so many of us, after months of cruising on our old plans, took retention EVDO offers...I personally got a $10 EVDO plan with a permanent $5 credit against that, including pics, video and $8 SMS with an offsetting permanent $8 credit...they also bumped up my loyalty discount a lot, so in effect, I am now on an EVDO plan and paying less than before...

You were right....I called and canceled the EVDO plan I had gotten. Turns out the lady that got it for me butchered it anyways and she had only included picture mail for 2 months as an add on to EVDO.

So basically, now I have the $20 Plus Pack for $15 1st line and $7.50 2nd line.
So $22.50 instead of $30.

Still not the best deal but better than what I had.

You are wrong about that.
