I looking into the PPC 6700, but read that EVDO Rev A should start to roll out the first of next year. Should I wait or jump on the ship now?

There is no tougher question when it comes to purchasing technology... buy now or wait???
I know a couple of my friends who are constantly in "wait" mode. They each miss out on a lot of cool tech gadgets because the next neat thing is coming out soon.
I generally tend to skip over every other generation of phones.
Skipped the original Kyocera "brick"
Bought the Kyocera 6035
Skipped the 2032
Bought the G1000
Skipped the PPC6600
Bought the PPC6700

Do you need the phone now? If not, then wait and also... are you still under contract? If yes, then again waiting is a good idea.

Mistake
The added speed won't make a huge difference in your day to day life, besides Rev A devices won't be out for another year. It will probably be a lot longer than that before most places have Rev A access.

That's odd...

Sprint has also announced the first Release A data cards for EV-DO. Launching in the third quarter, the Merlin S720 and AirCard 595 will support the upcoming Release A network. (source) (http://www.pcsintel.com/content/view/1260/9/)
Everything I've heard is that Rev. Handsets will be introduced or announced by the end of this year and Rev A network rolling out 3rd quarter this year. You have other info?

Ok, there's some aircards, but how about actual Rev A phones? Any info on that?

no info at this time.
Correction:
Sprint's first Rev A Phone (http://www.pcsintel.com/content/view/1277/9/)?
but if we're talking end of the year, that's not too suprising as we are still far out. I bet we start hearing about (not releasing) new RevA phones in October. Just a hunch.

Do you know why aircards are going to be introduced first. It's mainly because a laptop can take advantage of that additional speed. The existing pocket pcs really can't take advantage of the additional speed. It's the same reason we don't have 802.11G.
Go to any website on your 6700 and then load the same page with your 6700 teathered to your laptop, The difference is huge.

No idea outside the notion that they are going right for the large companies who need this to secure those large contracts before Verizon gets to them.
we're small fish for them in comparison.
And honestly, how to you sell (read explain) EvDO A to the layman?
I'd expect though to see a new PocketPC with WinMobile 5: Second Edition (announced at the end of the year, launches 1Q 2007, hopefully) and devices with a 2 cameras (like the HTC Hermes): one regular and one in the front for web conferencing/video VOIP.

Why not just have a swiveling camera (like the A900) I doubt one would need to use two cameras at once, wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to use a swiveling camera instead of using two different cameras?
Although I just thought about it, it would be nice if both cameras could be used for conferencing. You could put one phone in between two people and see/talk to them both....although I guess you could also just have both people in front of one camera, but the first idea sounds cooler :-D
