Ok, ok, I know everyone is tired of SERO talk but...
I was finally able to get a great SERO plan with my Sprint phone, but my bf recently changed over to Nextel and it takes me a long time to get in contact with him bcuz of that stupid "Plz hold while the nextel subscriber u are trying to reach is located" crap. I figured if I get a nextel, I'll just bleep him. I tried to get him the SERO plan that they had for Nextel, but I haven't gotten any luck. I'm afraid if I switch to Nextel, I'll be stuck with one of their more expensive plans, which would suck considering I already have my SERO plan. Ok, my point...
Is there a different process to get SERO for Nextel if you're already a customer and just want to port your number? Should I call a particular number? I want a Nextel SERO plan, how do I get it?
If anyone could help me out, I'd be totally in your debt. Thanks a lot.
From what Ive read on the Nextel forums, it is about impossible to get on the Nextel version of SERO. Your better off just keeping what you have.

Even if you get it, you are not going to be as happy with Nextel as you are with sprint. Reception and battery life are almost always better on the Sprint side. Why pay more and get less? doesnt make any sense to me
If you get Nextel, your Walkie-Talkie feature will be out of service a lot as well. The "Please hold..." problem is not exclusive to the regular phone service. All of my friends who've had Nextel for the past several years have since switched to Sprint or a different carrier.

Wasn't Sprint/Nextel going to soon stop offering Nextel anyway?
At least I heard that somewhere.
The whole network will be replaced with Sprint's, the phones for Nextel will stop being made, current Nextel customers will have to buy new phones, and old customers will eventually have to switch since the network won't be operational anymore.

Nextel will be around until 2010

that's good I guess....
Doesn't Cingular have walkie talkie now (same thing as Nextel)?
Cingular, verizon and sprint all offer some "push to talk" service.
iDEN is being supported and upgraded untill 2010 at a minimum, and then rumor has it the federal government wants to buy the system or atleast lease it to be used as a national communication system for a "katrina" type disaster (or worse)
Perhaps the boyfriend should come over to sprint? :)

Hmmm.... I thought that's why they were forcing everyone into HDTV... so they could buy back the regular broadcasting frequencies to use for a communication system...

I believe thats true but I have also heard that the government is interested in IDEN as well. They will probably use numerous systems

I signed up with the $30 SERO plan with Nextel about 3 days ago. Wasn't difficult at all. The only difference when signing up with the Nextel SERO plan was that you had to enter the empoyee email address AND a 6-Digit Employee ID. I got the email address from a friend and I had no clue what was the Employee ID was, I just entered 6 random digits and I got approved. :headbang2

I'm not really sure about that. Here in NY, my reception has sucked for a while now. I end up with no bars or roaming even when I'm outside. It's really frustrating and ridiculous frankly. People that I know with Nextel get great reception. I do agree about that battery life thing, tho. U would figure that after so many years Nextel would wise up and make a phone with better battery life. The battery life with all of the Sprint phones that I've had has been wonderful. Something that I'll miss  :bawl:
