what ever happened to the 11 voicemail code? as long as i've been with sprint anytime i wanted to just leave a message on another sprint phone i dialed 11 before the persons number and it took me straight to their mailbox. now when i try it it just rings like it normally would. anyone know?

Oh wow, I didn't know you could do that! What's the new code?? There are plenty of people I'd rather just leave a message for than actually talk to.

I didn't know about that either.
You could try the "mail" code. It's dependent on area though.
area code + first 3 digits of your phone number + 6245 (mail).
In my area, this takes me straight to my voicemail. From there i have the option of leaving a message to another Sprint user by entering their phone number.
interesting the "11" option works in my area too.

If the number was ported to sprint from another carrier, then it will ring to there phone.

Correct, the 11+ trick does not work to ported numbers.

One of the lines on my family plan has been ported over from Cingular Blue...That trick had worked for me in the past (Maybe I'm wrong...I will have to try it again).

its not working for me. I am dialing a from a sprint number to a sprint number. Any suggestions?

It could be region specific. I know some earlier threads discussed this and it only worked in some areas.
11+ sprint number works for me as well as
area code + first 3 digits + 6245

Hey tamaraa,
One question about your signature. What's the difference between Mobile to Mobile and PCS to PCS?

Maybe it's a different set of numbers depending on area?

well i called sprint and asked them why it isnt working for me anymore and they told me that it was a "glitch" that was corrected recently. so anyone who has had a sprint phone for at least the past few years it will still work with but newer sprint customers that you call it will not work for. *shrug*

That's bull.
I added a line and the code works fine for it.

I have no idea how that even makes sense. The only way it could be a universal glitch is if it were a glitch in the network. Otherwise, it would have to be glitches in the phones, and there's no way that these types of things are glitches in the phones. If it was a glitch in the network, they would've fixed the whole thing, not just for newer customers. In fact, I don't even think they can fix a network "problem" for some customers and not others.

Exactly.
I think the rep was just parroting.
More than likely it's some feature they set up in certain areas and not others.
Like Sprint bought up all the 6245 extentions in a region/area code... ex. 111-6245 thru 999-6245, and set up the network so those numbers route to voicemail. Also made it so when you dial 11+number it would do it to for that region as well.
Never know though.

They are the same thing. The 11 feature works fine here.

I agree with Jum', thats a bunch of crok! It works fine here also. I was told by a user here on this board that lives in NY area that it dosent work in that area because of what they did to the network in that area? Dont know if he's right but I dont know of anyone in that area that works?. Also, It DOES work on ported numbers! I have a friends who came over from cingular that it works from his phone and works when I use it to call his phone and just leave a message. He says it never rings his phone!

why not just call your own voicemail and select option #2, then enter their 10 digit number and voila! instant VM access without the pesky buggers spoiling your fun by actually answering.
Cool thing is you can actually call any sprint voicemail where you know you'll actually get the VM and select more options (#5 i believe) and be rerouted to the Sprint VM of you choice. My ex used to use this trick to check her messages when her services was interupted due to non-payment.
