id say every other night ill get an email while im asleep. 7 out of 10 times that incomeing mail will lock up my 6700. if i get the mail say at midnight it will lock then and by 6am when i get up my battery will be dead (its pluged in all night) i have to rest my phone to get it to turn on.
after it turns on i see i have no battery power and have to use the car charger and my desk charger at work to get through the day.
:Popcorn2:
if i use a backup program, is there one that i install via a cab file, save the backup, and email the backup to my pc? i cant activesync, hence the email :p if i could get a back up of my phone i would be willing to do a hardrest and start fresh.
this week would be the best time for me to try and do it (g/f is out of town :hee: )

Can you set the phone to not download mail during the hours you are asleep? The mail doesn't lock it up any other time?

Do you store your attachments on the storage card? If so, try not doing that. Also attempt to not have any Today plugins that access your storage card (meters, etc.).
OTOH, if you're fine with doing a hard-reset (sometimes they're nice to do if you have the time and can plan it) then I recommend SPB Backup. FYI, all the backup programs will backup a file to your Storage card. SPB will create and .exe file that can be run at at any time and you can selectively backup and restore. That's the nice thing with them... you'll always have a backup with you. Activesync is not needed for any of this.

ok, i took the attachments off the Storage Card.
Metters are on the phone, not the Storage Card, but i did find some stuff on the SC to clean up, so i did. well see how things go for the next few days, if im still having problems them ill back up and reset thursday night.
if i back up, can i view the backup on my home pc via the normal explore window that way... excuse me but.... :thought: .... can i make a back up, put it on my PC, add programs to the pc... put the new updated backup on my PPC and refresh from the new back up, that would give me more programs then i had before. omg omg omg, will it work!!!! that would be amazing, i cuold then say **** YOU :bang: :bang: microsoft and neversync.

Whoaaaa...slow down there!
Okay, so you can back up to your mSD card.
You can move that .exe file to your PC and save it (I backup my backups, just in case the card gets corrupted, though that has never happened).
You cannot edit that .exe file though (AFAIK) to add more to it.
What you can do is one of two options:
1) get a card reader. I use my aData mini-SD/Full SD converter and then put it my SD Card reader.
2) Get SoftTicks' Card Export II, which turns your mSD card (via the 6700) into a USB mass storage device.
Use either method and just put the .cab files on there (or email them to yourself) and just run the .cab/install files from your card. I do it all the time especially since I beta test, so I always carry the new and old versions of programs.
Also, by meters I mean make sure none are reading the mSD card e.g. telling you how much space is left. Just avoid accessing the mSD card altogether. Use it for storage or to launch a program that you don't need to keep open, running in the background when you turn the device off.

gotcha. wasn't trying to insult you! :tu:
you could always write to the developer and ask for a .cab file I suppose? A lot of the developers put on their page now as a download option...unless it's a biggy app that requires AS.

actually, just thought of something.
Your AS doesn't work but its setup on your computer, right?
Why not run the installation anyways and it will say that it will install the app next time you sync (which you can't do).
Then, on your computer look under \Program Files\Microsoft Activesync\ for the program folder of what is going to be installed...
You usually can find the standalone .cab files in there. OR, sometimes it installs itself to it's own directory under \Progam Files like SplashPhoto.
That will give you that .cab directly! Try it, should work!

Nope! I know of one section...PDA Phone Discussion.
but I'll take a looksy now...
And hopefully those .cabs should be there. I just tried with SplashPhoto and it worked.

awesome man! you are a god.
EDIT: what would the .cab be called that i would be looking for, or will it be the only one there?
go to the main forum screen, scroll down to the bottom, where the watercooler is, its just above it.

So basically there are two ways things get stored/installed:
1) \Program Files\Microsoft Activsync\WisBar Advance 2\wisbaradv2.armv4i.cab (it's
the only cab there)
OR
2) The installation program asks you where to install it, like SplashPhoto:
\Program Files\SplashData\SplashPhoto for PocketPC\SplashPhoto.2577.CAB
Once again the only .cab in the folder.
So you just have to figure out (or run the install app) again where it's sticking the files. Just looking under the ActiveSync folder should show you most of the program folders, so just search by name I guess or the company who makes it.
The first one, under AS folder is the most common. The second one is usually for programs that run on your PC and PPC e.g. for sync reasons.

lol, well I'm certainly glad the activesync/.cab thing worked.
As far as the DSOD, there are a couple of things:
1) If you haven't already, look at this thread on things to avoid the DSOD (http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71595&highlight=dsod). I think most of those things are really good (though some is overkill e.g. not going into sleep mode, etc.)
2) I noticed you're using iLauncher. Great program. For some reason though, for myself, caused DSODs on my device. Just something to consider. I don't think it necessarily a common problem or no one would use it, but I'm just speaking from experience.
3) Try disabling all your Today Plugins. Then one-by-one work you way up and see if one of those is the culprit (my bet it is).
sincerely,
inked nerd friend

ive looked at the thread and done most things already :( as for plug ins, i only have 3 plug ins on the "today screen" but i have weather/launcher as plug ins in pocketbreeze. i will try without them and see what happens.
(i hope your not right, i cant live without my ilauncher! but weather i was thinking of getting rid of any way.... )
