Anyone know how reliable Sprint is when passing texts to/from overseas carriers? I'm hoping their better than my current carrier, which basically can't (they came out and said so)...if Sprint can, then I know they're perfect for me. :)

Experience varies. For me, it completely stopped working about 2 months ago. Before that, about 50% of the text I sent to Virgin UK, Voda UK, and Tmobile-UK was received. I gave up and just use my tmobile payg sim for international SMS. It has never failed me. May be because it's GSM to GSM.

Everything seems to think it's a GSM or CDMA thing, but it isn't. Dobson is GSM, but couldn't get an SMS to Asia if their CEO's bonuses depended on it. I think T-Mobile has success in this area mostly because they're an international company, and use a network that already hooks to their Europe network, and THAT network already had agreements and connections all over the world.

Personally, I'd feel a little silly carrying 2 phones and using one just for texting. But that's just me.

I send texts to: o2-uk, vodafone, and organge in G.B(Great Britian), and sending texs to teipei in Taiwan. I've never had a problem sending them from Sprint & T-Mobile. I like the fact that I can send and recieve unlimited texts. The only problem is, is that its very expensive for them to send back!

I travel international often, and that's the primary reason me and the wife each have GSM phones. The tmobile payg sims are just a backup, but it so happens to work well with international SMS. I also give my tmobile payg sims to family members/friends to use, when they visit the US with their GSM phones.

Anyone that travels international and wants to stay connected does not have to be told they need a GSM phone. It's the standard in pretty much all the other countries besides a few Asian countries, and North & South America.

Personally, I'd feel a little silly carrying 2 phones and using one just for texting. But that's just me.
