View Full Version : Saving files/ringers on Treo memory?

Hey everyone, last night I sent a file through Focus to my Treo. However, after it d/l'd, it said it could not save itself onto the Treo because the file was too large. Well, I have a new Treo with nothing but default apps loaded onto it (leaving me about 22MB left of default memory) and I only tried d/l'ing a 500+kb file.

Do I need a SD card to save ringtone files onto my Treo? I d/l'd the trial mRing which told me that I could start using mp3's and such as ringtones. However, I can't even get past saving anything onto my phone. And the quick install won't work as well. If I try to drag an audio file it'll drag to the non-existent SD part.

Can someone help? Sorry for the question, I'm still new to all this.

Email it to your sprintpcs.com address. Then use versamail on the treo to download and save it. That's how I did it before I got an sd card.

By using this method, would I then be able to save a file of any size (assuming it fits in the system memory, of course)?

Thanks for the suggestion.

Sprint won't accept emails over a certain size
2 meg maybe?
Same way with downloading something with blazer.

Xiino web browser doesn't have this limit if u really need something bigger. There's an eval version I think.

Ok, I tried a test d/l of about 135kb. I successfully set up my Comcast account through VersaMail but a successful download still wouldn't work through VersaMail, it would only let me save to an SD card, which of course, I don't have yet. I assume that if I try a midi file, it'll only let me save something up to 60kb (that's what it said when I tried a different midi file).

So what are my choices? Shelling out $30 for Ringo Pro? On top of a SD card which I still have to get, of course.

Does anyone know what file formats I can use by default on the Treo 650 for ringtones? And what the size limits are for those files? And if I can load them onto my Treo without third party software or an SD?

Its possible to do. I used ringo for a few months before I got an sd card. Just checked and the mp3 was still on system memory (forgot about it).
another way would be to sync windows media player on your pc with pocket tunes on your treo.
I've transfered mp3's that way also.
Try the evaluation of pocket tunes out.
