View Full Version : Sending SMS Text Messages via the Web

Hello,

I work for an advertising and marketing company and we are just now getting into SMS text messaging and we seem to have run into a little problem. All of the messages that we are sending to Sprint phones are not being received and we are not getting any of them back as being undeliverable. We have confirmed that they are being sent to the correct address.

Is there anyone here that could give me a reason why Sprint is not delivering these messages? I am looking for a good technical answer as to why they aren't going through, like the charset has to be set a certain way, or Sprint limits who is allowed to send to you, etc, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt Beeman

I'm not sure but an "advertising and marketing company" sounds like one that would be sending unsolicited text messages aka spam. If that's the case, the messages are thankfully being filtered out as such. No one wants to get slammed with sms charges for receiving spam.

Yeah, I knew I was going to get that response, I was trying to give you guys the benefit of the doubt that you wouldn't jump to conclusions about our motives. I assure you that all of our services are opt-in, we aren't spamming anyone.

If Sprint has a spam filter, then I need to figure out how to get around it and Sprint seems to be the only service that has this. If we have to instruct our users to add us to their address book, we will, but hopefully this is not the case. We have successfully sent messages to T-Mobile, Verizon, Cingular, and Alltel. Sprint seems to be the only major carrier with this problem.

No one jumped to any conclusions. Hence my writing "if that's the case" in my post. If I had concluded that you were a spammer, my email would not have been very friendly.

To my knowledge there are no filters configurable on the user end. I think you need to speak with sprint directly.

Yes, the problem is it's being marked SPAM when it is not. I would hope a spammer would have enough sense not to come to a forum like this, as he would probably get roasted.

Until you mentioned it, I had not even heard of this spam filter on Sprint phones, but did actually find it on one of their sites after doing a more specific search in google. I have contacted Sprint directly and hope for a response so that we can include all of our Sprint users.

SprintUsers.com was created in January 2002 as a resource for users of Sprint PCS products and services to learn about and share information. We have cll phone reviews, Cellular Accessories, Downloads, PDA reviews, Ringtones, all of the latest Sprint PCS news and information, an area where you can find help in creating a ring tone or custom image for you phone, and so much more.
