I just started with Power Vision using my Treo 700p. I'm in metro Atlanta, and it works well in numerous locations around town, except where I work. It is painfully slow here, slower than my previous vision usage on a Treo 650. It takes a LONG time to initially negotiate the connection, and the dslreports mspeed test reports about a 2 second latency.
The signal strength in that location is less than full strength, usually around 1/2 to 2/3 maybe. Could that cause the problem, or could there perhaps be a problem with a single tower?
I ask because I have tested the speed at another location that is about the same signal strength, and I get much better performance, really no different than a location with max signal strength.
Since I spend a good portion of each day at work, I would like for the performance to be better here if possible. Is there a good way of reporting this issue to Sprint, other than calling *2? I've used Executive Services in the past when I've had problems dealing with the normal sprint support, but I'd prefer not to have to go through that if I can just deal with someone more technical.
Thanks!

It's interesting you should bring that up. On my fusic, I open up PV, and get a decent picture and solid sound. I live in an area where I usually only have one bar at most.
We were driving in Indy, which is supposed to be an EVDO area or whatever, and the ABC news channel seemed a lot choppier than it does at home..

clindner,
I'm having the same problems with my PPC-6700. I recently moved over from Verizon to Sprint and my data speeds are pretty low compared to Verizon. I work and live near perimeter mall and my data speed is not consistent at all. Testing with dslreports.com/mspeed and speakeasy for tethering....
mspeed I've gotten results as low as 88 and as high as 800......always have the EV icon.
speakeasy is 180 - 320 and upload speeds are 20 - 70.
I don't wanna go back to Verizon but these speeds are unacceptable in my eyes. Its also worth noting that I had the XV6700 on Verizon.....its the same as the PPC-6700. In my office with VZW I consistenly pulled around 500 or above down and 120 - 140 up!
Anyone have any tips? I called sprint and there is a trouble ticket opened but that was days ago and I never heard anything back......what gives sprint experts?

I've wondered the same thing myself, I was under the impression that PV speeds would/should coincide with signal strength, but I have noticed very slow speeds with full bars, and the fastest speeds with very few if any bars, and everything in between, which could lead one to believe they are independent of each other, but can't be 100% positive.

Seems to be the same for me when it comes to signal!
Of course if I was driving on Johnson Ferry Rd., Northside Dr. or even around the Lithonia area of Atlanta all those "hills" make for some interesting conversations. LOL
Oh and let's not forget Roswell Rd. when you get up near the "hooch." That hill is a fade out!

I'm still having issues with EVDO speed on my PPC-6700.....
very erratic speeds.....up and down......
Is Sprints network that much crappier than Verizons? I never had speed issues like this with Verizon.....always pretty consistent.......I wanna keep Sprint, I really do, but their data in my opinion right now is absolutely horrid here in Atlanta close to Perimeter Mall.

Update,
I'm testing in a EVDO area (Abernathy Road / Peachtree Dunwoody Road just to the north on Peachtree Dunwoody) in Atlanata GA on a PPC-6700.
Untethered doing www.dslreports.com/mspeed 600K speed tests.....10 tests in a row.
average: 248.1 kbit/sec.....please don't say that is good, because on verizon my average at the same location was 561.625 kbit/sec....is their network that much better?
I'll do some more tests with the phone tethered to my computer.

I would love to get that kind of speed at my office. Today, it doesn't even work... Signal is about 2/3 of full.
I used my 650 here, and never had a problem. My 700p works just fine in other locations.
I just wish I knew how to relay this information to the right people at Sprint. Apparently, they don't read this forum! :)
SprintUsers.com was created in January 2002 as a resource for users of Sprint PCS products and services to learn about and share information.
