Tired of trying to figure out how to use streaming programs such as Darwing Streaming Server, or ORB?

Do you just want to be able to click on a link in your phone, and watch your videos?

WELL NOW YOU CAN!!!

Heh.

As you may notice from my lack of posts, I'm a noob, in this forum, that is.
Recently, I installed OS X Tiger Server 10.4.6 on my iBook G4 computer.
If anyone has every administrated, or ran a server, then you know its true power.
Well, let's cut to the chase...

I just put a website up, hosted on Geocities.com, that allows you to stream 3GP videos right to your phone!
As you see by the title of this topic, it's a website where I will host and stream Video files, and video files only. The reason why I will only stream video files only is because if I stream music, it's not technically "legal", since people that I wouldn't want to find out, eventually WOULD find out, and my ass would be in jail, which is not happening. Videos is different though.. besides, if I start putting MP3's up, my hard drive will fill up in no time. Get your own music!!!

The reason why I made this website, is because I want to share, and host.

This is how the website works:

- I will be the host of your favorite videos/short movies
- All you have to do, if you want to put a video up, is to post the request here, with a link of the video that you want (doesn't have to be 3gp, i can convert it with streaming settings..)
- As soon as I convert the video, I'll put it up, and update the website..

ABOUT THE WEBSITE

- Right now there's only one video, a segment of a Southpark episode.. just to test it out.

- If I get enough videos, in different categories, then instead of just having all the videos in one page, i'll make different pages with different categories, but for now, I'll leave it like that.

- For right now, I'll only be taking request for like, funny videos, cartoons.. episodes.. music videos, and such.. NOT full lenght movies. You have to understand that I have a life as well, and I value my hard drive space, and I refuse to host files so big. But don't worry, eventually I will figure out how to change the buffer size so I can actually put full lenght movies in there for everyone to watch, but I won't be taking request for those, ever.


NOTE

Make sure your phone can actually stream videos before asking stupid questions like, "why can't I see the video?", or "how come i get this error message??".. this is NOT a "how-to" thread, the website is done, and it was tested with my A900, which is capable of streaming.

VIDEO RULES

1) NO PORN
2) no full movies (i will, eventually, upload full movies as i get them)
3) ONLY files that QuickTime can understand (that is my conversion tool)
4) The lenght of the video.. as short as possible I'd say.. if it's long i'll most likely split it.

about the smurfs episodes, i only found 2 clips on that link..
if u could send me the direct link to the video (u can PM it to me), here's what u need to do:
click on View on internet explorer (i think firefox is the same way), then "source"..
in there, look for the video link (it will say like: <a href="video.mov"> or something like that), and send me THAT link.
also, those "clips" are only like 10 seconds.... so it's not really worth to upload.. unless you really want me to...?

i can't preditc the future, and dont worry, i dont take anything offensively..
but the main idea of this website is just to host videos so people can watch them..
it would be even better if other people would help me host videos, so all we had to do is post the links on my website and that's it..
it's another way of 'watching tv on your phone for free'..
and don't worry, i won't shut it down, all i'll do is "recycle" the videos.. i'll have like 20 videos there, and then take em out and put new ones, and so on.. but i'll keep em, so i can put old videos later.. (i have a 250 gig hard drive, but i dont want the streaming to kill my bandwidth :P)

i tried going to your page via blazer on a treo 700p and got hung up on your geocities pop-ups and once i finally got to the main page with the "links" on them...it would for some reason turn half the page white and keep repeating the links at the bottom

well, as i said before, i tested it with a samsung a900.. the html is correct, you can verify this by going to www.geocities.com/sleektunic on any web browser.. but i won't tell u that it's a problem with your phone becuase i haven't tested it.. but ur more than welcome to view the source of the website and try to make your own with the video links..

i'm encoding Lethal Weapon 4 and Grandma's Boy right now! so i'll upload it by tomorrow.. also, i changed the sound quality to Stereo 64 in those 2 movies, to make up for the quality!! (it's watchable.. idk if that's a word, but not THAT great..).

I Have A Sanyo 8300 I Almost Never Get A Error Or Messed Up Sound Choppy Picture At Times But Nothing To Major. It Always Seem To Happen With Them Samsung Phones Maybe Sanyo Phones Are The Best Mutil Media Phones Hands Down.

I take a little offense to that, on behalf of Don & Louie. This video streaming site is hosted on Geocities--meaning it will get shut down if it exceeds a bandwidth cap too often and there isn't anything the OP can do to change that, other than sign up for a new account (over and over again). Don & Louie actually forked out their own money to host their sites on real servers. Don had to shut down because people were abusing his site. Louie had to shut down for personal and safety reasons. Both of these guys put their own necks on the line so you guys could have your ringtones, for which you should be grateful. Not saying that you aren't, but you have to factor in what Don & Louie did for you guys--they paid money every month to give you that stuff for free. And hosting isn't cheap. This guy is taking the free ride, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but as a result he cannot control when and if this particular site gets shut down by Geocities.

We already have ZooVision who provides this service legally, so you can pretty much count on them to not shut down:

Because their stuff is legal, you're not going to find South Park or anything on there, but it's a quality site to add to your bookmarks, along with this OP's site as well. I am unsure if there are other sites who provide this streaming at this time; I had considered it, but it's too risky on my own servers. If people donate videos to the OP, you'll get whatever you want on his site which is a nice advantage. Almost like video on-demand :)

OP, there is a site that goes by the acronym of RP. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you should PM me because that would be a good place to get videos.

i agree about the geocities thing, and bandwidth issues..
now, i'd like everyone to know that i made this site in oder to share videos with people that cannot get them anywhere else, or have no other resources. it was originally gonna be just for me, but why do that?
i could host a website on my own server, since i have unlimited bandwidth per month, and no one would care.. so i won't get shut down, unless Trey Parker and Matt Stone don't like the idea of me having people watch southpark for free o.O..

about the Looney Toons, there is NO sound lol.. thing is i got the video as an MPG, and when i ripped it to 3gp, it didn't have sound options.. so i put it there for fun.. but i'll take it out, since it's pointless..

but yeah.. i finished encoding 2 movies so i will upload them as soon as i go home.. i tried accessing my server from work but it won't let me due to security reasons..

No one said it was morally wrong (which is subjective anyway) or it should be banned. But it IS illegal, and you could get in serious trouble for what you are doing. You're breaking all sorts of copyright and redistribution laws, so you're putting your own butt on the line. I personally could care less--I do the same thing, but with different content. Mine's a bit more private, but I'm still breaking all sorts of laws. Fact remains, when you break laws like that, you don't know when or if you will get shut down. That's really the only point I was making and I'm sorry you took it personally, as I did not mean it that way. Just statin' the facts.

Well, see the problem is, like I said... I don't like the show either. So I've no idea what the good ones are. I've seen like 2.

Regarding volume, it sounds fine on my A900... so I dunno what to tell ya. On my A900 there's no way it sounds like it's on 1 rather than... whatever the highest is that it goes to. All of them are like this for you, dragon?

I'll check into it. I'm not even sure which season the ones he has up now are from, and all my videos are at work. I don't have the original files anymore, but it's popular enough that I could download them in no time and re-encode them. It might just be that particular season, hopefully... I wouldn't think the difference on your phone and my phone would be that big. I only checked two of them, so I'll give the rest a look.

I like the Simpsons episode. Do you have any more...and I dont know if it has been reported or corrected...but, Toy Story (1) doesnt play at all on my A900. It loads up the media player screen, and the PV triangles do its thing...then it times out...like it cant find the connection or video.

Second, the capitalization of every word is a crappy old Sanyo feature (and it may have been a "feature" of some other phones), so it's not something any user does intentionally.

Family Guy is my fault. And frankly, I'm not gonna fix it. Why? Because in order to retain audio quality I'd have to fix it straight from my source file... and I don't have that anymore. However, I have every season of FG I think and the rest seem to be just fine. :)

I've got Boondocks as well... I think someone requested that so I'll send it on over to iSleek. I've got some old Inspector Gadget cartoons too, and about a million other things, but I don't wanna overload Sleek :)

That's not something we can control with videos. It's a feature your phone has to support and unfortunately, not all phones do.
