I bought a slingbox today and I set it up on my laptop perfectly fine. I then installed Slingplayer mobile, and typed in port, ip address, slingboxfinder id and my password on my 6700. It then says locating, but then i keep getting the error message unable to connect to the slingbox. Can anyone help me out?

We have slingbox... I don't have the 6700 but I have it running on an Ipaq 2415. It hooked up effortlessly. Have you tried slingmedia community forum? They should be able to steer you in the right direction.

I have a 6700 with the slingmobile installed. I came across that message when I was trying to connect my laptop using slingmedia. The fix for me was to add the slingbox to my wireless network thru the admin. Once I did that I was able to get slingmedia on laptop and 6700 with no problem. The sling support and sling community are both great resources as well. Hope that helps!

I am not sure if the new BB works but I suggest going to the slingmedia site to see if it is supported. Furthermore perform a search on the slingmedia community to see site. I am sure those questions are starting to roll in.

hells no.
the only thing they said about Slingbox and Blackberry is what they said about the poor Treo users:
no news. We are investigating the feasibility of supporting this platform in the future, but it may be a while.
that was at the end of march.
for Palm/700P:
In answer to your email concerning the 700P, this is a Palm OS pocket PC (sic)
and at this time there are no dates for such a product offering of a
Sling Mobile Player on such a platform. This may change in the future,
but there are no current plans for Palm OS compatible mobile players,
and there are no beta test positions as of this time

funny - they are running video ads on Yahoo and they are using a Treo 650 as the "model"! Not even a freakin' 700w - but a 650! Oops....

That is a "whoops" indeed!
Unless...unless they're working on it for the Treo's! (I'm curious over at TC if they're reading into that as a "sign"... )
and lets face it, the Treo is the face of a smartphones...everyone recognizes it.

I read this weekend that a Palm version of the software should be available 4Q. In fact, it appears that some of the new SlingBox packaging has a Palm logo on the side of the box (where supported platforms are shown), but with a black label over it. A good sign, I'd say.

Don't hold your breath.
It's been a year since the WM version came out and there is not even a beta yet for Palm.
The black label is actually not a good sign ;)
I'm sure eventually they might get something out (just like Skype) but the WM5 version is on 1.1 beta 2 right now and making progress and I've yet to hear of an alpha for Palm or official announcement made by Sling.

Well as others suggested, try the slingmedia forums...
Now if my assumptions are correct, this may be an issue with your router not allowing connections from outside IP's, which would probably be easily fixed by port forwarding.
But first of all, we have to establish a few things.
1. I assume you're using a router. Is this true? If you're using a router, then the reason why your laptop worked is that it was using a local connection, and your router isn't going to block local connections. However, your 6700, if using Powervision, is using Sprint's connection which is coming from an outside IP, and your router may be blocking that. If your router is a wireless router, turn off the phone on your 6700 and turn on the wifi and see if your slingplayer mobile connects.
2. If your 6700 does work from wifi, then it means that your router is blocking your slingbox from accepting connections from outside IP addresses, and you'll have to port forward a port to your slingbox's IP adress.
3. The IP address that you're putting in your 6700, is it something like 192.168.x.yyy (where x is either 1, 2, or 0, and yyy are numbers from 1-254)? If that's the IP you're putting in, then it's definately not going to work, because that's the local IP address given to the slingbox by the router. What you'd need is the WAN IP (IP address of your internet connection), usually found by checking the router configuration. Using a local IP (192.168.2.19 for example) would only work if you were connected locally, such as through a wifi connection.
4. If nothing I've suggested works for you, then it's either I'm not finding the problem, or that your ISP may be blocking the necessary port for you to access your slingbox. Or perhaps there's even more than that, but I can't think of what else it could be. Good luck.
