I'm looking to get a new evdo phone.. So I've been stopping by sprint stores/retailers when I'm drivin around. This is in st petersburg / clearwater. I've been pulling out my 650 and using one of the store's 6700 or 700p. I've consistently got only about a 50 percent speed increase. I get around 90-100 kbit on my phone and 150 ish on their evdo ones. Some locations little more, little less.
this consistent with other markets? Does this area just suck?
makes me think evdo is a joke.

If you really want to see a difference, watch Sprint TV on both a Vision handset and a Power Vision handset side by side. Ex. Sanyo 8300 next to a Samsung A900 or A920.
The 8300 will get about 0.5 to 1 frames per second and the Samsung A900 about 10 to 25 frames per second.

EVDO really depends on the area... and how much load is on it at the time... my EVDO has gone up and down... depending on how many users and how strong the EVDO is in the area...
