Just a short report on arrival in Toronto with my Treo 700p. I drove up from Pittsburgh today. Once I crossed the border at Buffalo/Fort Erie, I forced my phone to roam. Initially, it was still picking up Verizon from New York State. Once I got near St Catherines, ON, I tried to connect to Power Vision and.... PRESTO, it signed on! This is a 1X area. Toronto has EVDO on Bell Mobility and data roaming worked flawlessly there too. Not only that but, for the first time, text messages are being sent and received reliably, Picture Mail is working and all of the data services on the Treo (On Demand, Sprint TV, browsing) are working like I am still on Sprint. Now we can experience what our GSM friends have had for years.... a seemless wireless voice, messaging and data roaming experience in Canada. I don't anticipate any extra charges for this because I have the $15 Canada Roaming Option for business accounts but I will report back when I get my next bill. By the way, this is being posted from my Treo 700p in my mom's house in Toronto. Woohoo! This is so cool!

Huh? Do you want candid photos of my mother's house? Just what is your point?
Don't have my digital camera with me. You will just have to take my word for it. One addendum. Data roaming works on Bell Mobility but not on Telus. I was down at the Beach on the boardwalk and my Picture Mail would not upload. One check of the debug screen showed SID 17500(telus). On SID 16420 (Bell), data works perfectly.

According to this release, data roaming is available in Canada and
mexico:
http://www1.sprintpcs.com/explore/ueContent.jsp?scTopic=wirelessData
My phone number is xxxxxxxxxx. I have Unlimited Powervision and the
ppc-6700 phone. I called the international roaming team and was told
that data roaming under my plan is FREE. I would only pay .2c/kb if I
did not have powervision.
Please verify that if I use data in Canada/Mexico, I will not incur
and additional charges with my current plan. Thanks.

None of this makes any sense - if you look at the webpage you can get unlimited access in Canada/Mexico with a card for $99. If there were no additional charges why would you need the $99 plan? Why not just get the $80 plan? And if you didn't have an unlimited plan why would using data be so much cheaper in Canada and Mexico than it is in the US, i.e., $0.02 in the US and $0.002 in Canada and Mexico?
I know it's hard to believe but I suspect ecare is wrong on this one - sheureka (who really, really hopes ecare is right!)

All I know is that I now an e-mail that will easy get me out of any data charges I incur while roaming in Canada/mexico. Best thing is to e-mail e-care and get your own proof.

I am back now....bill will be available around July 3 so I will report back what I see (and I will provide a Picture for those of you who are skeptical). In the meantime, enjoy this picture taken from my Treo as I was driving on the Gardiner Expressway in downtown Toronto, trying not to drive off the road :)

This makes NO sense, I agree w/ Shureka.
So, does PowerVison like give u free roaming around the western hemisphere or something because it is POWERFUL???

I think that they are allowing data roaming to be free for now because they are shaking down how well it works and they want people to try it out and become addicted to it. After 6 months or a year, then they will start billing for it.

I have been to Montreal in the last 2 weeks, driving both times From Detroit and have yet to get any Data working while Roaming. I tried vision/Picturemail/apps, and using it a wireless modem and no love. Is there anything special I need to do? The error I always get is "feature unavailable while roaming".

I used data in Niagara falls when roaming, I hope they dont hit me in the head for it.
In order for data roaming to work, you need to have one of the newer EVDO phones. Older phones have it set up in the firmware to block data roaming because when they came out, data roaming was not possible. Now you can data roam. The older phones just don't know it.

I have an A900. Shouldnt that be new enough? Maybe a later PRL would change things?
Brooose

I would have thought the A900 should work but you may need an up to date PRL, as you suggest.
