Has anyone in Michigan or anywhere else noticed SMS message failures over the past 2 days? The messages eventually go out after the 2nd try, but I was wondering if anyone has any insight?

Been happening to me too. It'll sit at sending for quite some time and either eventually go thru or eventually fail.

never had a problem with sms, but then again, i'm in miami - maybe it's a location issue?

Yup, pretty much all the SMS I send out takes at least 2 tries to complete. No matter where I am, no matter the phone or location, I have this problem. I'm in Detroit, BTW.

Works fine for me.. and I send messages out almost every 2 hours to different people/places... YMMV though.

It happens every so often with my phone. SPCS is clueless on why it is happening? :-\

Haha I thought it was because I dropped my phone too much, but yeah I have been having problems with sms. It is taking much longer than usual, and failing many times.

Sounds like a Hawaii problem too. You think you sent it, but it gets lost in space. If sending to non-Sprint subscribers (e.g. VZW), seems to work better. Will continue testing tho. Sprint says no problems.

Picture mail is sort of flakey too. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. It's like the picture is not even there sometime, but the picture memo shows up. If sent to an email address outside of the Sprint system, it works every single time. Sprint says no problems.

UFO principle.

Same problem here in MI - I send 'em, but they don't always get 'em - lost in space forever... However at times they show up hours later... Perplexing

Yup! Some of the messages show up eventually. Calls into Sprint Support ... well, they did show up ... right? Well, SMS is supposed to be faster than postal mail!

At least the Sprint people admitted there was a known network issue and are working on it. Hopefully, a resolution will be found soon. This is good news!

Can't handle the UFO principle! Drives me nuts!

No probs here in San Francisco...Here in San Francsco area (East Bay AND SF) I have been having issues with both our spcs phones sending and receiving each other's sms' since at least this past Monday. Sending---about one out of four sms attempts, takes several times to send. Receiving - either miss pages or takes more than 5 minutes to receive (sent from my other pcs phone).

Noticed issues night time, mid afternoon, and morning. So, all day :(

And the three took about 1 minute to go through ... way too much lag compared to past 1/2 year.an observation...for those message not received by my phone sent from the SPCS website...when trying to TRACK the sms, I get tracking failed message b/c the tracking # is invalid. Something is obviously wrong here which SPCS should look into if they are not already aware of the issue.

For those claiming u are not experiencing SMS issues, either you are truly in an area not affected by this recent SMS system issue or you do not notice you are missing sms' (easy to do, right?).

Try sending yourself a mixture of 26 SMS' - some from your own phone, some from SPCS.com. Sending one-character messages are the fastest/most efficient way. Try A, then B, then C...until you get to Z (26 letters, if I recall correctly).

I personally send/rcv over 20 or 25 SMS per day, so I do tend to notice when something is not working...

confirmed w/ a SPCS technical contact of mine.. there is currently some issue w/ all of San Fran's messaging switches as well some in the Los Angeles area. No more details given. I am assuming these issues are not affecting all messages b/c i can see most (but not all) of my msgs seems to be working - just that 10-20% which are getting that failed sending message or not getting to the recipient.

There was an article sometime ago that stated that even tho text messaging is "the next big thing in the US" (at the time of the article) they have about a 20% failure rate.

There was an article sometime ago that stated that even tho text messaging is "the next big thing in the US" (at the time of the article) they have about a 20% failure rate. Well the 20% failure rate has not applied to me since about March when SPCS got their SMS act together. Now, however, the past 9 days is another story...

I have been getting a failure message on first try every time on SMS the past 48 hours, at home and at work. Very odd. Has anyone noticed any other problems in the past few days?

I have in the past missed msgs from other people, particularly from Verizon users, but until yesterday my msgs always went out. This is way weird.

At one point the error message said "network busy" so I just waited a few hours, but still couldn't send msgs on first try. Ugh.

Jaggrey

to reiterate my situation here in San Francisco area. I've been having SMS issues for about 15 days now. Got a enterprise tech contact of mine dig around...found out network issues existed here and LA (at the very least, I am assuming from these boards). From the data my contact told me, it matched my observations of my experiences (which equates to about 20 percent successful sends + delays in sending). LOL, get this, my contact raises a ticket for me to ensure there are records attached to my acct... another rep closes my ticket but issues still exists here... so what's new?

I have a feeling something is going on nationwide w/ spcs' sms system. I have been a relatively heavy SMS user since launch-day, with both AT&T and SPCS (for example, I have 850 SMS so far on both our phones with one week left on my current billing prd), so I am confident when I say there is a problem with the SMS system.

I'm down in the Tucson, AZ area and am experiencing problems too. Sending is working fine, although a little delayed, but recieving is horrible. There is at least a 30minute to 2 hour delay in the delivery of a message down here. I haven't called Sprint about it yet though....but I plan on it soon.

Ok, for the 73rd time....yes, Sprint is having issues with its SMS, Yes, they know, Yes, they are also having some server issues related to mail and websites. Yes, its all over the country. Its kinda funny how everyone comes into this thread and says "its happening here" and "Oh yea, it happened to me too." "What, its happening there and here as well??" Its all over the country.

I'm not sure if I'm experiencing the common SMS issues everybody else is affected by or if it's something different. Recently ported my wife over to sprint from at&t about 7 or so days ago. We tested out the picturemail and that seems to be working okay, but today was the first time I tried SMS. Tried from my phone, from the sprint website and even from her phone to herself. It's been more than 5 hours since I sent the 1st message and not a single one has come through. Is it possible there's something not set right with her account causing this? We had to call in cause her voicemail wasn't set up right, wondering if this is a similar issue. We called earlier today about the SMS prob. but was told that the messages weren't going through because of some server being down. Just wondering if anybody else had to go through something like this before.
