First of all, I am not here to bash Sanyo, in fact I have had nothing but Sanyos for years, however I have a major problem with the voice dialing.
I go through this every time I try to use it. Phone: "Say the name". Me: John Quakenstaz, mobile. Phone, "Say the name". On the rare occasion it gets it right it says, Phone: " Did you say John Quakenstaz? Me: "yes". Phone: Did you say John Quakenstaz.

This goes on as long as I will let it. It always happens when I'm in my car and don't want to take my eyes off the road to punch up phone book, scroll down to the name etc.

Sprint sent me a MM7500 free because my MM7400 was doing this. Which I thought was pretty cool since it came out a few days before I got it "overnight" from Sprint.\

Here's the deal, I am a former major market disc jockey and I know my voice is clear.
Second my wife and son both have Sanyo 8300s and they both have the same problem as I do.

When I posted this problem on this site several months ago all I got was a bunch of "Jee I don't have any problem with mine doing that".

Now I already know I'm nuts so don't go there , but other people I know, have the same problem. Is it just that voice dial is not bug free yet or what????

Please tell me some of the rest of our gang are having the same problem and what if anylthing to do about. It's important to me because I'm in the car a lot and don't want to manually dial while driving.

Any comments would be truly appreciated. :D

I can't pronounce that name, how could a little program make sense of it?

 That's funny!
I just pulled a name out of the air, the names I have in my phone are simple, usual names like everyone else.
This is my second post on the subject and I guess I'm the only person in the US with this problem.
Sigh :irked:

It does happen to me, and when it does I ususally just get frustrated and pull up the phone book anyway.

I fully understand your problem. I have had Sanyo's for years and the MM-7400 was my first phone that worked most of the time. My 9000 works better than the MM-7400. Just a few notes on what I have encountered that may help. I have several names that sound very much alike. So I have had to be a bit inventive with names. These tricks/tips are so you can actually voice dial. They aren't the prettiest solution.

1. Turn your voice prompt option one, and try saying one command at a time instead of stringing the commands together (example instead of "Contact, Keith, Home" say Contact, wait for phone to say "say a name", Keith, which phone, home.

2. Try using your existing phone book but do your digit training. Helps the software understand different accents even in the contact list.

3. After doing your digit training and it still isn't working well, put numbers in front of the name like 1 Keith. You would say Contact 1 Keith Home. Basically the speech recognition software is looking for strings of data to match to.

4. Put a space between the letters in the contacts list. This will be allow the software to see them as letters verses names.... for example K e i t h. The command would be contact, K, e, i, t, h, home. spelling name Keith with each letter. Here again the object is to be able to successfully contect with someone using Voice Recognition.

Hope this helps!

Keith

Hey Keith, thanks so much for the well thought out and varied tricks you suggested.
I will try them, they all make sense to me.

Finally an answer I can work with. I was beginning to think I was the only one with the problem.

However, I wonder if any of the other brand phones have the same probleml. I am a Sanyo fan BUT, other than signal, the next highest priority is voice dialing.

Anyone know if any certain brand has better voice dialing than Sanyo and good
RF?

Thanks a bunch Keith! :headbang2

I don't have any issues with my 7500 except with the names that are pronounced like they are spelled.
