I was in a Radioshack the other day and they had one Sanyo 9000 left. It was priced at 379.99 unactivated or 229.99 with a 2 yr agreement as an existing customer. I have had my phone for over 24 months and I am able to use my 150.00 rebate. My question is does the 150.00 come off of the 379.99 or the 229.99? I called sprint and told the first rep my situation, because I was trying to get him to give me some kind of credit for signing a 2 yr agreement. He told me he couldnt because the Radioshack was already discounting the phone. He also told me that that the rebate could only be used at the sprint store. I immediately called back and told Claire "cancel service." The next rep was very nice and helpful, and told me that I could use my 150.00 rebate at Radioshack. I asked if it was off of the 379.99 or the 229.99 price. He told me it was off of the 229.99 price. I verified this and got his ID number in case there was any confusion or the Radioshack wouldnt give me this. My question is, is this correct or not? Any suggestions? I know that I might get the same answer from everyone here, because I know I wont get the same answer from sprint reps. Thanks

The 150 is off the before rebate price. So if radio shack is selling the phone for 379.99 full price and 229.99 with new activation you would get the new activation price. That means you pay 229.99 and the 150 is coming off the 379.99. You would not be getting 300 dollars worth of rebates.
If radio shack does the rebate instant you would be paying 229.99 there is not another 150 rebate with Sprint, the rebates don't stack that way.

yea we do instants. we go off the upgrade site. 329-150 upgrade = ur price of 229.

That is what I figured, but the rep told me that the new to you rebate was off of the activated price. The whole reason I called in was to try and get a credit because I cant really afford 229.99 for the phone. Basically, my $150 new2U rebate is worthless because I am getting the phone for the same price as a new customer. Should I go to Radioshack and try to get it for 229.99 plus the 150.00 discount? I have the reps ID number if that is worth anything. Or should I call back and ask sprint to give me a credit for signing another 2 yr contract?
Also, I forgot to mention that it was a closeout store, so the phone was 30% off of the unactivated price only. Well, that makes the price of the phone $266 unactivated. If I activated it would sprint give me a 150.00 credit on my bill? That would make the phone $266-$150=$116.

i think the closing store would only sell the phone 266. or sell it for 329-150 for the upgrade, ud have to check with the manger 1st. also, theres no way RS would give u 150 off the 229, no matter what sprint says, unless rs gets paid on the back side back for it. if the sprint rep told you that and u have it documented, buy the phone outright from the store with the 30% off it and then have sprint credit ur bill the 150 if they can.
and u said "Basically, my $150 new2U rebate is worthless because I am getting the phone for the same price as a new customer."---thats what the rebate prices are, they are the same price as the new customer price. same like that on all carriers, except, some phones have instant and mail in rebates only available for new customers.

Not Verizon. They give the "new 2U" rebate on top of the new activation price.

You had to buy through a corporate VZW store. And since at least 2002 this has been Verizon's policy, although I might have read somewhere that this is going to be changing.

Definately correct.. that's how I got my VX8000 through Verizon for $50 when they were going for closer to $400. Reupped my contract AND got their new every two bonus on top of it. Too bad Sprint doesn't do the same thing.

yea, again a example of radioshack havin diff prices and gettin paid on the backside X amount of dollars by the carrier to sell the phones. we have extra instant and mail in rebates on some phones that are radioshack only rebates. like our outright prices are currently not as good as cingular's but our prices with contracts are heller better

Worthless to get the new customer price... he he, well, a lot of customers would want to be in your position... but just wait until you see the $36 dollar upgrade fee on your bill when you get that, you'll be really happy then! yay! Enjoy your 150 off the regular price!

 at these upgrade fees. ive never had one or had anyone experience them. radioshack doesnt participate in it here i was told by our sprint rep, and its great. sprint customers here have never heard of an upgrade fee :)
