Hello,
After much searching, I finally figured out how to make the Sanyo 9000 a modem for my Powerbook running Mac OS 10.4.
You will need you MSL code. Then go into ##DATA#. Go to USB Mode. Enter the MSL. Select modem instead of composite.
Now when you plug your phone in, it will detect the Sanyo 9000 automatically, then allow you to configure the modem. Be sure to select Sprint PCS Vision for the modem type, and use #777 for the number.
I guess the older phones are set to "modem" by default, whereas I spent countless hours getting it to run on the mac.
Hopefully I have not posted a topic already in the forums.

Be sure to go to network after plugging the phone into the Mac. Do not plug it into the Mac until finished with the listed steps, then select modem/standby after making the connection between phone and mac.

haven't tried it yet. we just got the MM-9000 today, and it will be activated june 1st
Has anyone gotten this to work?
Is there a better driver for the Mac that supports the composite USB port on Sanyo phones?
I have a Sanyo MM-7500. The USB port by default has a serial port and modem port through the same USB connection. It sounds like the Mac driver doesn't find the modem port. I'm rather leave USB configured as composite.

The only way I have found is to change the USB mode. It still detects on my PC though, and allows me to transfer files. Of course, this is on a 9000. I have had no luck getting my wifes 7500 to connect to any of my 3 macs (mini, Powerbook G4, Powermac G5).

It works like a dream on the 9000 :)
I tried both settings on the 7500 and it wouldn't work. I had assumed that it would work if I flipped the setting in the phone. This maybe a deal breaker for me and the Macbook. Any idea how I can pursue figuring out if there's a way to support the modem on the 7500 using the Macbook? Is Apple support useful? Sanyo? Sprint?

I think the 7500 requires you to add the phone as a modem on your ccount. Called NAI I BELIEVE, WHICH THE 9000 does not have,

I have the phone as modem plan option. Works fine on Windows.
My problem is that the Mac does not recognize the phone as a modem at all. It shows it under USB as a Sanyo cell phone, but doesn't recognize it as a modem, regardless of the option setting within the phone.
I know a old post but, there's any way to get cought doing this with a 9000 ? Using as a modem for ...like 4 hours a day ?
Thank you
BTW: I use lots of bandwith cause I watch Sprint Tv at least 4 hours a day,so if instead of watching TV I hook up on line would be the same bandwith usage ?

My 9000 works fine, it was simple plug and play, as I've been using PAM since my 4900, and never paid that $49/mo extra for the plan. It worked for my 8100, 8200, 5600 with no issue as well. I also have a Palm 650 that works via BT with no issue.
It's great to play WoW on the way to SoCal from NorCal, makes the trip more fun :)
LOL I nearly cancelled DSL bc I was using my 9000 ALL DAY, but I kept it bc I was only dl at 120kb/sec on the 9000.
I <3 my 9000!!!

No extra charges if you use your 9000 as a modem all day ? Hows that possible ?
