Took me 5 calls to Customer Service to get a rep who knew how to do it.

To obtain SERO there are a couple ways:

1. Call in to *2 with your cell phone (outlined below)
2. Sign up with new service thru the SERO site www.sprint.com/sero

Thru Customer Service:

call *2
Press your language option
say speak to a representative

***BE VERY VERY NICE but firm***

-This will extend your contract for 2 more years.
-Tell him/her you wanted to switch plans and a friend who worked at sprint recommended one to you.
-Mention SERO and that it suits your needs.
-Smile, cross fingers and hope they can do it.

-If they refer you to site, kindly thank them and call back. My verbage around this was Inphonic wants me to cancel my current number. My number was important for business reasons so I couldn't go that route. I mention that I know a few others who went thru CS to get it done. ***For what it's worth, the rep who did mine did not even mention any of that. They said "Okay, what plan do you want?" "Great, I see it right here. Let's set you up!"***

You'll know within the first few minutes if they can pull it off by how they react and the feeling they convey over the phone. The rep I got was VERY confident and had been working for Sprint for 3-4 years.

SO FAR, I've had a male rep switch my plan and heard of another male rep from another SU member who got SERO did there plan change. That's not to say that the female reps can't do it, I just have not heard of any so far. [This note is no way meant to be sexist, just stating obvious facts.]

Okay, so if the rep needs help (as some have NOT heard of SERO yet) direct them to the site listed above. For me, I assumed that if they haven't heard of it, it's a small chance they know how to manipulate the system in a way to get you the plan if you are an existing user.

Process (should be self explanatory, just tell them the plan and features you want, ALONG with what benefits you have already and want to keep).

Some of the things I'd kindly ask the rep to note IN YOUR ACCOUNT, just in case something goes wrong (that's how I phrase it):

Notes:

-Can upgrade or downgrade to the other SERO plans later
-Picture Mail and Video mail free note
-EVDO note that will allow you to switch to an EVDO plan (If you have a Non-PV phone and plan on upgrading later)

That's the steps I've taken to get the plan. I'm not 100% sure I'll get it as I have to wait until my next billing cycle to see the changes.

Some false assumptions as other members currently posted they have gotten past that situation:

-Have to get a new number
-Only for new activations
-Can't have business discounts
-No other promos can be applied

If you have anything you'd like to add, please post!

Seriously, ONE email to ecare and the rep converts all your lines over in one swoop?

Maybe I should ask for the phone upgrades and the SERO plan at the same time for my two lines or would that be a bit much?

BTW, Thanks to Whomever donated to me so many SU$.
Oh uh, that was me :deal: I "accidentally" gave you 1750 SU $ too many, could you send em' back my way? :hee: Just kidding Google

Yeah but an email to eCare does help out big time! They are pretty good at getting it right without all the hassle...

Got my three shared lines converted to three separate SERO 500 plans. Kept business discount, phone numbers and they added 500 SMS for free. I'm pretty excited about the plan. I tried to get the SERO plan over the phone with no luck, but first email to ecare got the job done. Thanks to everyone for the tips and good luck to everyone still trying.

any chance you can show me a copy of ur leter? i'm getting no love from sprint in switching from family to sero and keeping my numbers.

I just told them that I heard about SERO from a friend that works at Sprint (true by the way) and I would like to have the three lines on my family plan switched to separate lines with SERO without changing numbers. The email I sent was pretty straight forward. Got a message back pretty quickly saying they would make the change for me. It was all pretty painless. Much different experience than talking to the phone reps.

You'll need to use an address in Sprint's market and have your number changed to that area most likly. My number is 350mi away from where I live, lol.

I got the SERO 500 plan about two weeks ago. Three attempts via eCare resulted in failure. Finally got someone on my third call to *2. I actually called at 2AM EST and the lady was very helpful.

You have only a 90 day window to change you SERO plan once you have one from one that is lower or higher, after that you have to sign a new agreement.

You have to get 2 seperate SERO accounts

03-16-2006, 10:01 AM
I'm so sorry to hear that. It's a great plan. Maybe you can use another address? You just really need it for billing purposes, you can even change it to paperless billing so you won't receive anything in the mail. Do everything online.

I GOT IT!!! I GOT IT!!! Through Ecare no less! Thanks to all of you who posted that you got it through ecare. A word to the wise, if you're going to try to go through ecare you'll have better luck during the day. There's a woman that works at night who will tell you you can't get it unless you do it through the site. But during the day, the ecare people are so nice and helpful!
I am so excited!!! I love sprintusers.

I think I had it the easiest.

Hi! I emailed them yesterday stating that I was told that there was a plan called SERO 300 that would better fit my needs that the plan I currently had. My reply email from ecare told me what the plan included and then he asked me to email him back if I wanted it and didn't mind renewing my contract. :deal:
To make a long story short, I replied this morning stating I didn't mind renewing and then the rep emailed me to let me know my new plan would start tomorrow (my month begins the 17th of each month anyway).

It was totally painless!
Good luck!

Yes, when I say a dozen, I mean that literally, and it may have been a bit more than that. But I finally got my SERO plan!!! I tried a lot through *2, and most of the CSR I spoke to hadn't even heard of SERO, I had to give them the website. Most of them gave me the same story:
1. You have to be in the market for a NEW service plan (i.e. not be a current customer)
2. Have to be an employee (even though its called the "employee REFERRAL program")
3. Have to change your number

However, I was given the number to the business department and decided to give it a try, seeing as how I had spoken to CS and kept getting the same story :frustrate (BTW, the number was 888-876-8381, this is where I finally got success). So I spoke to the guy and told him that I wanted some information on how to switch to a SERO plan. He knew about it, but vauguely. As I told him that I was referred by a Sprint employee, he was about to tell me that it was only for employees. But as he kept on reading the information he pulled up, he noted that it said "requires new or RENEWAL of a 2 year contract", which obviously means that current customers are eligible. Lo- and behold, I've got SERO! :headbang2 So now my plan is:
001. 500 adjustable anytime minutes
002. Unlimited night and weekends
003. Nights starting at 6 (email ecares for that one)
004. 500 free texts (again, ecares)
005. Unlimited Power Vision (inc. unlim. picture mail)
006. Unlimited mobile to mobile
All for $30.00 a month, $5 bucks less than I was paying, and I had no vision, 200 less minutes, no texts, and nights at 9.

So there you have it. For everyone saying, "Lord, I'm giving up", DON'T. It's worth it. It just takes a little bit of time, patience, and persistance. Good luck. :fingers:

Hope this helps. :tu:

Nope. I tried before and the in-store guy pretty much pushed away all my SERO printouts I had and said if the plan isn't in their little pamphlet, he can't give it to me. I then called customer service from inside the store and got switched to SERO on the first try.

I signed up with Sprint in Feb and paid $80 + tax for my phone and they credited that back to me. I just switched to SERO this week. Email from ECare said they couldn't help me as they aren't set up to do that, but first call to CS,I was transferred to the Business Dept (1-888-876-8381) and the lady took care of it in maybe 2 minutes total.

I have read numerous posts and am new to the site but, if you follow the links provided by users of this site to the sprint sero sign up all you seem to need is a sprint employee's email. I actually have a friend that works for sprint in Ft. Collins, Colorado and here's the magic formula to get a sprint email. It's the initial of the first name, the middle initial, and the last name @ sprint.com, (all provided on a business card they'll give you if you go talk to them. jkrowlings@sprint (madeup)

I just sent an email to ecare asking about the SERO plan on my 6th (and seperate) line. Currently on that line I pay $35 for 300 min FF plan, $15 for unlimited SMS, $20 for power vision and $5 for 7pm N/W, so that is over $80 a month, and even with my public safety discount, I'm still paying over $65 on that one line! So I have nothing to lose, and everything to gain my trying for a SERO plan. I just hope I can get it on my first try.

If worse comes to worse, I'll just cancel that line, pay the $150 or $175 early termination fee (whatever it is) and get a new line on the SERO plan. Not sure what the total charges are on the new plans, but I asked about the $30 - 500 min plan.

I tried it today for the first time and I spoke to 10 reps. none of them new.

I've been reading through all the Sero threads and cannot seem to find this information. I am currently a Cingular customer and thinking about switching to Sprint.

1. Is it possible to get SERO with a new plan?
2. I was told in California, I could roam onto Verizon towers without being charged??
3. Can I used my phone as a modem with the $30 Sero plan, with the "unlimited web access".
4. Do SERO plans applicable to any phone discounts?
5. Does any discounts applicable on top of SERO? (seen conflicting arguments to this question.

Thank you very much!! I look forward to becoming a Sprint user!

I've read through most of the SERO threads, but I hadn't seen anyone ask this..

I've been a Sprint customer for three years, I have a Fair and Flexible Family plan with two lines, one for me and one for my son, costs $79.99 per month before taxes, etc. We don't have any Vision or Text Messaging or Picture Mail or Video Mail or any "extras" on our plan. I have a Sanyo MM-5600 and my son has a Sanyo PM-8200 that we've have for about a year.

So anyway, we've always wanted to have Vision, and all the bells and whistles for our phones, but with two lines and those options costing extra per line it would be really expensive.

So, now with the advent of the SERO plans which seem to include Vision and Picture/Video mail, etc for free, I'm thinking about converting to two individual SERO plans instead of my current Family two-line plan.

Anyway, is there any provision when converting to a SERO plan for getting new phones along with the deal for an existing customer? Seems like it's easy as pie for a new customer when you look at the www.sprint.com/sero/ website, but I hadn't seen anyone talk about doing that as an existing customer..

Or should I take care of getting the two phones set up on their own individual SERO plans first, and then talk later about upgrading to a Samsung A900, A920 or A940?

Just wondering if anyone else had experience with my situation..

1. Yes you can get SERO with a new plan by going to the website and having an email address of a sprint employee.
2. Yes roaming is free on the SERO plan
3. They are "cracking down" on the phone as modem issue. you may want to search the forum about that.
4. Check the SERO website for the discounts ... SERO (http://sprint.com/sero)
5. Yes you can get discounts on top of the SERO plan. Once you have signed up and received your phone your best bet is to email ecare and try to get discounts. (You can do a search about that too).

Hope I helped!

My success story is way too simple. I couldnt even believe it myself.

I simply sent an email to ecare, saying that I do not know anyone in sprint but would love to get SERO plan. I got back "No problem, we'll set you up, reply to confirm". In my disbelief, after a reply I called Sprint and confirmed that my plan will switch over to SERO at my next billing cycle. I did lose FIMF but will nag ecare to add it back when my plan goes in effect.

Now, this brings me to another question. I want to get this for my girlfriend. As an "existing SERO customer" am I eligible to add another SERO plan to my account and then transfer it to my girlfriend's name? or do I need to keep it on my name? Or should I just hope that a kind soul will set me up with a referral? What's the best way?

Thanks in advance

I wish my experience was as good. I have sent 4 emails to ecare, and this last one, I got the reply that they would give me the SERO plan, and free 7 pm N/W, but I would have to pay extra for unlimited SMS. They just needed the email of the Sprint employee, last 4 of SSN, phone number and address. I replied with the email address they requested, and gave them my last four of my SSN, my address and phone number. Received a reply saying they were sorry for the confusion, but they needed the SSN of the employee, along with their address and phone number, not mine.

Maybe I'll just go through the SERO website and switch plans and get the a900, even though I don't need it, and after I have the plan hopefully I can convince them not to charge me the $150 early cancellation fee, and still get my free 7pm N/W

Dear.....

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy
to assist you regarding your concern about the SERO plan.

I understand that you wish to set up the account on SERO plan. The only
requirement for this plan is that a Sprint employee should refer you.
One more thing required to have this plan is that it can be put on a new
account only or atleast it should be a new line on the account. The
existing line cannot be switched to SERO.

So to have this option, you the required things are as below:

- Referral from a Sprint employee;
- It can be put on a new account only or atleast it should be a new line
on the account.
- Should be on an individual line
- A New two-year Sprint PCS Agreement on the account.
- All orders must be activated through the InPhoni website which is
loacted at the following URL: <http://www.sprint.com/SERO>.
- Select handsets will be offered through the website.
- Existing customers that want to switch to this plan are required to
receive a new phone number. Early Termination fees aply if the contract
is cancelled for the existing line on the account.
- Activation fee will be applicable.

We assure you of our best attention at all times.

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel.

I too was shut down.. I tried the ecare way and was sent this:

- Referral from a Sprint employee;

Try emailing again tomorrow during the day. The guys on then are pretty nice about it. ...the social security number of the employee - they've got to be kidding!!!

I'm wondering if I might be better off just transfering my number and account from the SERO web site, and getting the new Samsung a900 for $199, and then sending the email saying they won't charge me a cancelation fee and also offered me the free 7pm N/W. Don't really need the phone, but for $199 I guess it's a good deal

I have been a sprint user now for 2 weeks exactly, and I must say, I love this site. I did a simple search for A900 background on google, got to this site, and wow did i find a large storage of information i never even knew about. I have seen sites like this for smart phones, but never for a company in general. I usually try howardforums but this site rocks so much.

I found out about sero on this site, asked my friends who work at sprint and got more information and in combination of this site and them i was able to get onto sero. I transferred 5 lines from Verizon onto sprint a week ago. It took about 40 calls to *2 but i eventually got all 5 lines converted into sero. I was able to save 100 a month over my family share plan. The hard part is that very few people i talked to on *2 even knew what sero was, but instead of being like others i have read here on the site i talked about it with each one :P Better to inform the CS reps then to just hang up on them.

Eventually i was connected to a woman in the evening and she converted over all my 5 lines without asked a single question. It was switched over and in 30 min was on the website under my current plans for the account. I was very impressed. She even gave me free at 7pm, and free 100 txt msgs.

I convinced a friend a work with to switch to sprint as well, on her first try she talked to a woman who instantly converted her to SERO over *2 on her plan as well with the same stuff i have. I wish i was that lucky.

But so everyone knows now, i read that post that sofar only guys have been confirmed to convert to sero but now 2 woman have and did it fast, flawless and no questions asked... :P

oh and just incase my friend and i both had referrals for the SERO plan so hope no one thinks we were scamming the *2 reps... just was shocked that we didn't even have to use them... I had it noted on my account though the names.

I am going to switch to sprint from nextel and add a few more lines. i went to the sero website a few weeks ago and was able to get in and choose a plan. now i go in and it says its not available in your area. whats up with that? i emailed ecare saying i want to switch over and add some lines and get sero and they told me i have to call this number i guess its telesales or something. will they be able to help me out or am i just SOL with sero in my area? why would it be there and then gone? i dont want to change my number but the other lines im adding ill need new numbers.
i would like to go to costco and get a phone cause they have a kickazz return policy but would i be able to get sero from there or is it only if i go through sprint? if i cant even get sero can i get some other discounts on a family plan or something? or at that point should i just go to costco and buy it? or can i just get it there to get the phone and change over to sero or try to get a discount on something else before the 14 days?

ok, I have been with sprint now since 2002. I am out of contract and when I bought a new power vision phone, I got screwd and my old 10 plan with unlimited sms and pix, vision etc got removed. I got it back, but without the unlimited sms. Anyways, I am going to be sending an e-mail or calling to e-care about sero plan. Just wondering what extras I can get and should ask for, FIMF?? Unlimited sms, I heard this is next to impossible to get for free, but even at discount, 6pm night and weekends free? Just wondering what to ask for...

The sero site itself only needs the employees email addy so why would ecare need more than that. That sucks!!!!

Ok this was the response I got from ecare....question is, should I send another email to ecare to see if another rep would honor it to me? Or will I end up getting the same rep as I did last time? Advice...

Thank you for writing back to me.

We have launched the Sprint Employee Referral Offer, also known as SERO.

No wonder I saw that my account had a $150 termination fee, then a $150 credit on the same bill...

And the rep never asked for an email either when I switched to SERO...

Probably the rep just used their email? and did the whole termination/credit thing to make it valid?

I think that is really cool of them to help me out like that.

Do the SERO plans cover family plans with 2 lines??

no, it has to be two seperate lines

i have two lines on my account and was able to successfully change both to SERO :headbang2 plan 3 weeks ago and will take effect on my next billing cycle, 1st week of april. my old plan was $50 500a/t shared minutes. so i decided to get the $30 SERO for $60 both is not bad bcoz of the SERO perks and i get to keep my loyalty and business discounts anyway. so i called just yesterday just to confirm the changes(as we all know there are issues on this) and make sure correct notes and plan details are there. so heres the weird part...

i was calling to confirm that both my lines have ben changed to the $30 SERO plan. i read over and over that SERO is not shareable. but the CS guy told me that i only have one plan which is the $30 SERO. so i freaked out. but later he told me that there were two lines and the 500 min is shared. so i asked him if both lines include free powervision(vid and pic inc), roaming, MTM, etc basically im getting the perk a SERO account has but with 500 min shared. so im only paying $30 for a SERO plan with two lines. could this be too good to be true??? i cant wait till my next billing cycle to see whats really goin on. :fingers: i'll update you guys later when i get my new invoice.

OK, quick question...this was my first time sending an email while logged into sprintpcs.com. I logged in, then clicked contact us. I gave my email addy, topic, and message. When I clicked submit, the page closed out and I was brought back to the sprintpcs homepage, and no longer logged in. Is that how it works? I just want to make sure my email was sent correctly.

Usually I would just copy paste the ecare email that I sent a long time ago and sent it via my email address...

Most likely your message wasn't sent. The Sprint page times out after a few minutes, so when I send them an email from the 'contact us' link. I will usually copy/paste what I write in the original email, log back in again and paste what I had previously written. It will let you know immeditally if your email was sent successfully. You should also receive a comformation email from Sprint with a few minutes that they have received your email and an ecare specialist will get back to you

If I were you guys, I'd call. Less chances of a paper trail that a rep can deny you for trying so much.

*2 has worked TWICE for me. It took less than 15 calls total for both to be switched on seperate occassions. The rep took about 30 minutes setting it up due to the complexity of it, but some can do it.

i totally agree with thechosen1G if you want to get it done correctly....but when claire comes on, say "employee discount" and it will get you to the right people to be able to do the SERO plan. To me that would be the easiest way to do things since i spent 3 hours on the phone with sprint. i was transferred from department to department and finally ended up with Rentention and the Rep told me to call employee discount department. After 3 calls to that department they finally converted my plan over with all the perks intacted.

WOOOHOOO I got the sero....converted our 3 lines F & C $150 to 3 sero1250 for the same amount. It took 2 calls..the first rep I couldnt understand what she was saying, she was talking about the #REF. So I called back tonight and got tony. At first he gave "u gotta go via the website to sign up" I told him my friend said it was possible to do it without going thru the site. He put me on hold and checked it out and said he could do it. I didnt have to resign my contract AND I kept my numbers. HE was too nice. Didnt have to give my friends email either(although I had a legit one). I forgot to ask about my texts...had to call back. He had removed it.:( I had texting for $2.50. I will be writing ecare to see if we can get it back.

Ok, took me three calls to *2 but I got switched over to SERO!!! Last rep that helped me was excellent...went over the details w/me a few times and made sure everything was correct. Best CS experience I have had. Mad props to CS rep Randy!!

Demented...thanks for the tip of saying "employee discount" that saved me so much time!!!

Ok here is what I got:
$49.99 Sero1250 AT
free roaming
free unlimited powervision(tried to get ultimate pack back but said it is not available for SERO)
free unlimited pics and vids
unlimited M2M
$10 6pm NW
$8 500 sms
$6 TEP

Total is $73.99 before taxes plus 23% for corp discount = $56.99 before taxes. I'm saving about $30 bucks from what I was paying before!!! Amazing...am I missing anything that I should have gotten that I didn't list?

Also, since I was only two days into my billing cycle, he added everything right away and prorated, rather than having to wait until my next billing cycle. He said that by doing this, that I would save a few bucks on my next bill. Is that true? how long before I can check my account on the sprint site to make sure everything is cool?

thanks to everyone here at SU, I will be saving money every month!!!

Okay, I tried ECARE for Sero and just got shot down (very politely and kindly, but shot down nonetheless). I was thinking of trying *2. I have received an email addy from a sprint employee on another board. He has referred more than 5, however, so I don't know if it will fly or not.

If I call *2, I want to get my current off-contract plan switched to three separate SERO lines -- two 500 and one 1250 plan. It will still be about what I'm paying now. I'd like nights @6, but I will take them at 7 for now if that's all I can do. I'd like to keep our current two numbers, but if they have to go, so be it. We need three phones and will just work with whatever prices are available. Of course we'll sign 2-year contract and I'll set up autopay if that will help!

Any suggestions on what to do? I've paid overages on our plan for three straight months and SERO is something I think we can live with for a long time.

TIA!

Update! Called my local Sprint store and the good folks there were so nice. The gentleman who answered the phone hadn't heard of SERO, but I told him what it was and asked them if they could hook me up. He gave me the name and email address of one of the local reps. I promised to do what I could to pay it forward by referring people to the store. Now should I go back to ECARE or *2?

Here we go, this is what I did...

1.) Passed on the eBay purchase. All of them required a plan of $50 for at least 1 month, then you could switch plans (Bad: Past 14 days cancel time, and most of the leverage for Sero is gone and perks... IMHO)

2.) Found a web site for the Treo 650 that didn't have the rebate information listed for the $149.99 price it offered for the Treo 650. http://www.lowcostcells.com

3.) Called around to the sprint retail stores until I found one that would match an authorized online Sprint reseller. He said I must bring the printout from the web site (had already printed anyway, only took 3 calls to different sprint stores, don't use the resell stores, only use actual Sprint retail stores)

4.) To make sure I got legitimate information for the SERO plan I told him I wanted to use him as a referral. He said that was fine. I told him I would get his number when I got there and signed up for the phone. Got his Sprint cell phone number and his legitimate e-mail address of course is on all their business cards

5.) Planned out when to arrive to the store, They close at 7 PM, so I made sure to arrive at 6:45, why? Less time to verify anything I brought about online prices, and more of a rush to get me out the door, without going through all the normal checks they do to discount a product

6.) Told him the online offer was giving free activation, he waived the activation fee.

7.) I asked him for his Sprint cell number, and took his business card and 3 other of the employees business cards.

8.) Went home and dialed the business department 888-876-8381 (because after looking through 5 different forums and answers to where to call, that seems to be the one that gets it done, consistently...) However, since they have limited hours M - F 7AM - 9PM, Sat 7AM - 7PM(accrding to the rep) I had reached the regular customer service center since it forwards you there after the business departments hours.

9.) So Saturday I call the business department number. It asks me for my cell phone number (don't put your own, put in the sprint employees telephone number -another thing I learned from reading different posts in forums, if you put your own number, it knows you are not a Sprint employee- when it asks for the password don't enter anything, it prompted me a couple more times, then I just hit 0

10.) A lady came on the line(Felicia) I informed her that I signed up last night, have active phones, with my old number ported, and I need to change to the SERO Coverage Phone Plan (don't says referral, because most departments will refer you back to #REF, thinking you want the $25 referral) She stated that she would need my telephone number. I gave her my number. She asked for the e-mail of the referring Sprint employee AND his Sprint phone number (they are becoming wiser, so make sure you get a legitimate phone number, another tip I got reading through all of these forums on SERO) If anyone wants a legitimate e-mail and telephone just e-mail me and I'll be glad to give you it. I will limit this to about the first 50 people, and then I'll update the post and remove the offer so I don't keep getting slammed with e-mails. snedman@fastermail.com If this helps you in any way please feel free to use me as your referral if you want...

11.) She said she would switch me immediately over to the SERO plan. I also asked that the protection plan be dropped from my phone.

12.) After about 10 minutes she said I was switched. (I never asked or stated what the plan entailed, so that once she switched me, I could ask her to read back what the plan covered) She stated the SERO plan exactly. However, she said that Picture Mail was not included. I informed her that according to the SERO details on the Sprint web site it was included free. She came back a couple minutes later and said that I was correct.

13.) I asked her what call center she was at. Felicia stated that she was at the Sacramento California Call Center.

Good luck, hope this helps out someone.

Voicemail answers your calls and takes messages when you're not available. Voicemail allows you to retrieve your messages quickly and easily. Just press one button, check your voicemail, then press a button to return a call.
Caller ID

Caller ID shows you the numbers for most incoming calls, so you know who's calling before you answer. If you don't want to answer your Sprint PCS Phone, you can let the incoming call roll to your voicemail box. Caller ID works whenever your phone is on. It even works when Call Waiting alerts you of an incoming call. What's more, Caller ID safeguards your wireless calling privacy with Caller ID Block. When you initiate a call, you can decide whether your phone number is shown to the person you're calling. For maximum flexibility, you can activate Caller ID Block on a call-by-call basis or choose permanent call blocking.
Call Waiting

Call Waiting helps ensure that all your important calls get through when you're talking on another call. When you hear the distinct Call Waiting tone, glance at the Caller ID on your Sprint PCS Phone's digital display to see who's calling. Then you can decide whether you want to switch to the new call.
Numeric Paging

You can receive numeric pages on your Sprint PCS Phone instead of voicemail messages. When Numeric Paging is turned on, your voicemail will prompt callers to either leave a voice message or send a numeric page.
Three-Way Calling

Three-Way Calling lets you talk to two people at the same time. You can use Three-Way Calling even if you didn't start the phone call. (Airtime and long-distance charges apply for both of the calls in your Three-Way Calling party.)
Call Forwarding ($0.20/min)

With Call Forwarding, all your incoming calls will be forwarded to the phone number you specify—not your Sprint PCS Voicemail box—and you won't hear a single ring on your Sprint PCS Phone. You can activate and deactivate Call Forwarding as you need it—changing the forwarding number when the need arises. Each forwarded call costs $0.10 per minute, plus any additional long-distance charges.
Sprint PCS Directory Assistance ($1.40 per call, plus airtime)

Just dial 411 on your Sprint PCS Phone to access a variety of convenient services - phone numbers, driving directions, show times, restaurant reservations and more! For only $1.40 per call, plus airtime charges, you can receive up to three requests per call and be automatically connected at no additional charge.
Casual Text Messages ($0.10 per message)

Text Messaging is a global phenomenon which has changed the way people communicate. Utilizing the keypad of your phone as a "typewriter," you can create short messages from your phone or our website and send them to almost any phone in the United States while on Sprint PCS network! Learn the lingo... For example, "see you later" is commonly sent as "C U L8R." Whether your phone uses Short Mail or SMS to send text messages, it is a simple, fun, discreet way to get your message delivered, and the easiest way to communicate. Snd a txt 2day!

I too am very curious about adding a line for my gf, I just switched to SERO...
it takes effect April 3rd :fingers: :fingers:
I have a quick question though....I emailed sprint and asked about the 500 texts and 6pm N/W for free this is what was sent back to me....

Q: Question:1) I recently changed my plan to the SERO 500 min. plan and I
wanted to make sure I was getting the following because they
have not shown up on my account yet....
A) My target
employee discount
B) Nights and weekends beginning at
6PM
C) 500 SMS a month
Please double check to make sure my
plan was changed succesfully
And please let me know when I
will see the changes gone into affect!!

A: Dear George,

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy
to assist you regarding your concerns.

1. The discount you are getting is 17 percent on total paid Monthly
Recurring Charges (MRC).

2. I would like to tell you that your plan has been changed to SERO
plan
but it will get effective from April 03, 2006. This is to avoid your
account from prorate charges.

Be assured that after April 03, 2006 you will get all the options which
you have specified in your email. You will be able to see your online
account after April 03, 2006.

Have a great day.

Well, I'm no expert, but that's the SERO plan. You should have a box on the right side labeled "My Online Tools", that's where your Picture Mail will be. Also, try to access Picture Mail on your phone, and if you are not prompted to pay a $5 a month fee, then Picture Mail is included in your account.

If you have the PPC-6700 your account should say Powervision. Unless of course you switched from a phone that had vision already and you upgraded to the PPC-6700, then you are stuck with the vision only. Picturemail is included as part of the Sero plan. You can get the full SERO details at www.sprint.com/SERO

asmd05 the www.sprint/sero web page says no activation fee. But I am assuming that meant if you went through their webpage to get it. From what I have been reading most people are calling in and asking for it to be waived and they just drop it off. This is even what the rep told me when I called in and asked to be signed up for SERO. She said if I see it on my statement just call and they will waive it. Snedman

theChosen1G this is what I have been reading:

1.) New Subscriber - 1st phone you activate has powervision and phone is powervision capable that is what you get.

2.) New Subscriber - 1st phone you activate has vision, you then switch to a powervision phone, you are stuck with whatever the phone was capable of you first activated, even if the new one has Powervision

3.) Current Subscriber - You currently are on a vision plan, you upgrade to a powervision phone, you are again stuck with vision...

at least that what I have been reading and the way I understand it. I don't claim to be an expert on the SERO plan, but I did do quite a bit of research on it before jumping in.

You may want to check with the board Sprint Employees also, but I am pretty sure that is the way it goes.

Hey, about the vision switch to power vision. I was worried about that also because the phone I have now is only able to have vision and Im going to buy a 920. so I sent an email to ecare and asked about it. I got a reply that once I buy the powervision phone it will be switched to pwrvision with no extra fees and no plan change except the switch to powervision. I printed it off to just incase the try to pull one of those " no you cant " games on me.

Depends on how you got the phone and whether the phone is GSM with a Sim card or non GSM. I am assuming that you prob got an unlocked phone or something off ebay...

GSM=SIM,Sprint Network Compatible phone, Never Registered, just activate it with Sprint and signup for SERO.

There are many options depending on the phone and how it was acquired and whether it is GSM or non GSM. too many to list and go through without more details.

I am not extremely familiar with this type of request you have.

My plan is coded with EVDO in it (I verified numerous times) and I have a powervision phone. The SERO plan on sprint.com details might not always say "power vision" in what's included.

It's really not a big deal. Power vision access is a PHONE thing, not a PLAN thing. I've gotten power vision/EVDO access and speed when I was on my old grandfathered vision plan before SERO kicked in.

What I'm getting at is, I wouldn't worry too much :). I did alot of research on SERO too ;).

I'm in no way arguing with you, I'm just saying that your plan on sprint.com saying Power Vision or not isn't a big deal. :deal:

SnedmanGSM phones are not compatible with Sprint at *all*. :td: Except for the one Nokia dual-mode thing, but unless your phone specifically says that it is for Sprint, you will not be able to activate it.

If you want SERO, buy your phone from Inphonic. Less hassle that way. Buying phones from eBay or anywhere else doesn't guarantee you can get SERO. Best to buy a phone from Inphonic .. hell, get the free one, and get it on SERO, then do an ESN swap to a different phone if you just have to get a different phone. That way you know you will have SERO on it, and you'll have a spare backup phone to boot.

Never daunted, I got my referral person's full contact information. But when I got to a person in employee accounts/employee discounts, I was advised I would have to get new accounts on the web and then call to activate/port the phones over. I am trying one last plea to ecare to handle it for me and not have to go that route because there seems to be a lot of room for confusion and/or error. Beyond concern for total chaos on my account, the only real bummer is I really wanted to get me a 6700 smartphone and all they have on the sero site is a Treo.

everybody's been really nice, but none of the folks i've spoken to can give me the love so far!

Same story as Yay4Juggs here...

I had a rl4920 and called sprint, 3rd time i asked for sero I gave them the email address of a sprint employee who was my friend (business card) and got all set up for sero. However, with under $35 /mo base plan, they don't discount your phone so I had to pay 600+tax for my ppc-6700, which they switched right over. I called customer service and they took $25 off of my next bill because I didn't get any phone discount though :tu:

When you switch into SERO and they give you the option of normal or power vision SERO, make them do power vision (don't listen to how it isnt compatable with your phone, just do it it will work anyway) just in case the power vision SERO offer expires in the future when you get your ppc-6700 or whatnot...

Good information to know, thanks for updating me on that theChosen1G.

I am sure that if a person tried and tried that someone would switch a person over to powervision if they only had vision and the phone was capable of powervision. There is always a rep out there that is willing to go the extra mile for people. I know I was always one of them when I was a CSR. As long as you are nice, and don't get nasty, I think the majority of CSRs would prob help out on this, if they have the authority to do so.

If they don't have the authority, ask them if it is at all possible that they are aware of, and if so, who might they know that works where they are at that may have that authority to help you out with your request.

Saying things back to them, such as "I know I am asking for something out of the norm apparently, but you have been so much help so far and so knowledgeable, that I thought you might also know the answer to my dilemma I have."

You would be surprised at the amount of CSR's that will help, rarely did we have customers that were polite back to us, AND told us that we were so helpful and knowledgeable... And when we did... we tended to help out quite a bit more. All of this is of course contingent on what authority they have as a CSR, or their manager... If no one has the authority in their center and you keep pushing you are basically beating a dead horse... Always find out what center/and division they are in also so you can track which one can help you the most.

Good Luck.

I guess I'll find out if we can Add A Line with sero. I signed up for it last night knowing that I'm able to add a line, but the web site makes it appear as though it's just for NEW users to sprint but my order has been processed and approved and I'm waiting for shipment of the phone, so I'll see what happens. I'll probably have to do some port of or something cuz I can't have two separate account numbers under my name. That just wouldn't make sense.

Updates now available... The advertisement I posted earlier is just a blanket mass e-mail they send out. I spoke with 6 CSR today and all of them said that I would have to switch plans to add a person to the SERO... If anyone finds something different to this effect let us know.

Update to my way to call the business office, I posted a step incorrectly.
Each time I called them I DID NOT use my cell phone but my home or business phone...

1.) Call 888-876-8381
2.) Enter a SPRINT EMPLOYEE telephone number. If you enter yours it knows you are not an employee.
3.) It will start asking what you want to do, select 0 on your phone
4.) It will ask for your password, do not say or do anything, and it forwards autmatically to a CSR to business division during their normals hours.
5.) They will ask again for your phone and password, becuase you just entered a Sprint Employees phone information, and you are not on your cell phone, from that point you are good to go and start discussing the SERO plan. Sorry about my non attention to detail on that previous post concerning how to reach that office.
6.) Go to the Sprint website and login and verify that the plan has been changed, it can take a few hours to reflect the change, sometimes longer.

The bold highlight of your statement doesn't make sense. Why would a different person's individual line have to switch plans? It has nothing to do with that other line. Am I misunderstanding something?

snedman
03-27-2006, 06:38 PM
Google, I am sorry for the mis-understanding.

The CSR's stated in relation to that plan, about adding a new line and sharing minutes that no sharing is available under the SERO plan. I would have to switch to a different plan, other then SERO, to take advantage of letting another person be added to my account and sharing the minutes.

Again, I should have re-read my post before hitting ok. My Apologies

Yes and no I am curious to see if they screw the bill up :hee: and at the same time if it is possible.

I am not interested in a shared SERO plan because you are just sharing the minutes :irked: it would be killer if you shared the minutes and other goodies as well even if they charged more for it.

Hopefully this is true!

Are you implying something, hmm? :hee:

But yes, I'm curious as well. If sharing the SERO plan is possible (minutes wise), thats great!
There was one other member who posted that he was able to add a second line for free, and it shared everything he had (SERO)... Autoprime is the member.

That would be extra sweeeeeet! But my gf was pretty upset because Sprint totally messed with her account. She had an old retention plan and did AAP for her dad, found out that for a month now her AAP line was being charged .40 per min when she was told that AAP would share her minutes. Also rep told her that her 10% loyalty/10% business/free 7pm all were not on her account and isn't going to be there (a rep before had supposedly provisioned it for her)... what a way to be treated after having 3 lines, and having Sprint for 5 years

So just be aware of your minute usage and make sure that it really is sharing the minutes...

Thanks for the tips.
Making progress, but today was told that they only have two SERO plans to choose from.
$49.99 plan with 1100 minutes now, or the $99 plan (didn't ask about minutes there).
Everything else seemed the same, but I think was also told EVO was extra?.?.

Can anyone else confirm, or was the rep confused?
Have a PPC-6700, and rep did say Vision (power vision?) was included, but what was up with the EVO costing extra?
I think the rep is confused. The plan you describe is not the SERO plan, according to the SERO web site.

The rep was confused.
Account info online still shows up with old info, which I must keep for 1st 30 days.
To get SERO, called the direct employee phone number and procedure snedman explains a few posts up.
It all went through fine on first try.
Rep stated only the two plans ($49.99 and 99.00), and $49.99 was 1100 minutes.
Rep could not add 7pm N&W for free. I turned down the 7pm @ $5 extra.
Few hours later, called using my cell to confirm.
Yep, on next bill cycle, I will have 1250 anytime Sero plan.
But it also shows N&W starting at 7pm, with a $5 credit to make that free.
So rep must have corrected it after signin me up, or system corrected it.
Either way, I'm a happy camper thanks to snedman's instructions!

I've tried calling and converting my current 2-line Fair & Flexible for Families plan to two seperate SERO plans many times over the past week and the one common thread among the reps who turn me down is that I'm going to have to pay a $150 early termination fee and there is no way around that.

A few have told me other things, like you can only sign up for the SERO plan over the Internet, have to get new phone numbers, etc, but every one has told me that I would have to completely cancel my account and start over from scratch. (This is what both the responses I received from eCare said as well)

Does anyone have any other advice or pointers on how to get the early termination fee waived and keep my phone numbers?

Persistence. I had to call about 10 times.

Or try retention!!

All depends on the rep...so keep trying, i didnt have to lose my number nor resign a contract....dont do ecare...i think ecare just cut n paste....do the phone.

So there is no point trying to reason with or educate the rep I'm talking to when they're turning me down and telling me I have to cancel my entire plan? I mean I should just say "Thanks for your help", hang up and try again?

I guess what I'm asking is, do I get insistent and ask to be transferred to someone who can do what I want? Or just thank them for their time, call back and try to get a different rep who is willing to do what I want right off the bat?

I just get worried if they keep track of each call as I'm asking individual reps, I didn't want to have 20 notations on my account about trying to get SERO..

Well the rep I had, at first said I couldnt do it, had to go via the website. I said a friend(SU) said I didnt have to and that they could do it over the phone. He put me on hold, researched it and said he could do it. So I guess it all depends on the rep. If u want u can ask the rep to look into or or hang up and try another one.

That's where I obtained the Sprint employee phone number to use to get directly to Employee Referral department from info in post #126, which worked first try.

Just a quick question to those who have had their SERO plans and free options through one complete billing cycle...did everything turn out right? Where there anything that you had to call in and get corrected or were charged for when you shouldn't have?

My next billing cyccle doesn't end until sometime in April. Was just kind of curious. Thanks.

Free Picture and Video mail were the only things I had to have added on and corrected.

Well I ordered a Phone/Plan off the sero site and am awaiting the phone which I should recieve on Friday. I guess I'll find out over the weekend how the plan will be combined to my account.

Also, I read this line off the sprint sero website and I'm wondering if anyone knows what this line means?

Existing customers on an Employee-liable account may be eligible for the offer

I had to get the pic. & video mail fixed too. I dont think they know how to work the dropdown boxes that give the specifics until you tell them.

It's a little bit easier when you email ecare telling them to do this, also so you have documentation of what took place.

LOL , yeah after about 15 emails i was fed up with it, so I provided a link and instructions on how to work the dropdown box. Next thing I know I get an email saying " I have made the adjustments to your account, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding "

I got lucky yesterday the rep signed me up for two of the 500 min sero plans.I asked about keeping the perks i had received over the years...180 extra min, fimf, business and loyalty discounts 7pm nights, and 500 free text.He entered some codes said they would all roll over.Well you know how that goes,i called back a half hour later.I asked the rep to read off what each line had it was right, starts my next billing cycle. So far so good.

Where's your unlimited Pic. & video mail ? ? You better get on the phone with CS and make sure they put it on there. It took me two days to get it straightened out.

I don't have that feature listed but it is included for free. Unless there are other members who have it listed, then I'm screwed lol... j/k

I have an email that states I have it for free and I saved it, so if anything goes south, I have my email to back me up.
