6 New Areas Get LTE!
Sprint (NYSE:S) announced that it is delivering the speed, power and value of its all-new 4G LTE network to customers in six new areas. Customers can use Sprint 4G LTE to send holiday pictures, upload funny home videos, and check social networking sites for friend updates on holiday traditions – all faster than ever before on their Sprint devices. Beginning today, customers in the following cities/counties can access 4G LTE service from Sprint:
- Indianapolis/Carmel, Ind.
- Santa Rosa/Petaluma, Calif.
- Vallejo/Fairfield, Calif.
- Southern Puerto Rico (including Ponce, Coamo and Guayama)
- York/Hanover, Pa.
- Franklin County, Pa.
- Sprint also enhanced 4G LTE coverage around Shenandoah County, Va., and introduced 4G LTE to the neighboring Page County, Va.
“Just in time for the holidays, we are bringing 4G LTE to even more Sprint customers,” said Bob Azzi, senior vice president-Network, Sprint. “We strive to deliver a top-notch network experience, and customers in these newly launched areas will see 4G LTE service get better and better in the weeks and months ahead to reach even more places where they live, work and play. Customers should find Sprint 4G LTE consistent, reliable and fast.”
A strong, robust wireless network is increasingly important as wireless users want to access emails quickly, upload photos/videos to friends and family, and routinely check in with social networks – all on their smartphone. Customers in several new areas will be able to use their smartphones – such as Samsung Galaxy S®III, Samsung Galaxy Victory™ 4G LTE or HTC EVO™ 4G LTE – to share a picture, download a video, or check the Web with greater speed.

I like that in two spots along a highway (between two smalls towns) I get a 4g connection. Those two stoplights bring me equal amounts of joy and sadness. One is less than a mile and a half from my house, but the signal fades within 150ft of the intersection when I turn.

Maybe by the time Sprint rolls out 4G
to their customers the rest of the country will be using 5G.

Someone needs to explain to me why my highly populated area (Norfolk/Va Beach) doesn’t have 4G yet smaller areas do ?

To some who are wondering why their “large” town/city doesn’t have it yet… you probably do. Sprint keeps cities under wraps until the coverage is “complete” and bugs worked out. I live in Los Angeles and it’s the same deal. It was the same with WiMax too – I was getting it long before they announced it in my city.
But… is anyone else besides me having crappy 3G coverage after towers are upgraded? I have the Photon 4G and when not on 4G (WiMax, not LTE) I can’t keep a connection for shyt and often don’t get calls. If I put it on 4G (WiMax) my data is fine at least – but those use different equipment which have not been altered. This is a huge concern for and if not fixed by May when my contract is up I’m switching providers.

On the website it was announced tht the Twin Ciries was to get LTE. That was two months ago. No announcement stating it is live. But Puerto Rico gets it. How many customers are on Puerto Rico Sprint?

wysiwygg77, is it working yet in the Twin Cities? I’d like to go to the Mall of America and bring my GALAXY Note II with me and see how great it works with LTE.

I have gotten as many as 15 dropped calls a day, almost every day, since the 3g tower upgrades. Im in Phiadelphia. I too wonder why these extremely tiny markets are getting lte over the larger ones. I dont think ill be wondering for long though. Im getting tired of crappy service with empty promises. Ill be heading to VZW as soon as my conract expires….in 1 month

I’d be happy to just get reliable 3G at this point. I don’t know what Sprint has done over the past couple of month, but I can’t keep a data connection anywhere – and when I do, it’s SOOOO SLOOOWWWW :`(
