No NASCAR deaths since 2001

On Aug. 11, a day after Sam Hornish Jr. was involved in a horrific-looking crash at Watkins Glen International, he was moving furniture at his North Carolina home.

And when a new No. 77 Dodge was unloaded a couple of days later for the race at Michigan International Speedway, he went behind the wheel without any second-guessing.

HTC Hero Now Virtually Confirmed for Sprint

The FCC has approved a CDMA version of the HTC Hero, adding to the large amount of evidence that this smartphone will be one of Sprint’s first with Google’s Android OS.

While there has yet to be an official announcement, there have been many leaks. For example, HTC’s support website recently contained a reference to “HTC Hero (Sprint)”.

Sprint Executive Killed By Boulder In Colorado

The man killed in Colorado by a falling boulder is identified as an executive with Sprint. 45-year old Thomas Murphy was Vice President of corporate brand marketing for Sprint.

The Colorado State Patrol says a boulder the size of a briefcase fell of a mountain and crashed through the window of his family’s SUV Friday near Aspen.

Verizon, T-Mobile lead in wireless customer service; AT&T, Sprint below average.

J.D. Power and Associates said Thursday that wireless customer service has improved overall as hold times and problem resolution has improved from six months ago. Verizon, T-Mobile and Alltel, which was acquired by Verizon, led the research firm’s customer service rankings.

Overall, customer care performance has improved to 735 on a 1,000 point scale. That’s up 12 points from February. Seventy-six percent of calls to customer service was resolved on a first contact, up from 66 percent in February. Hold times also averaged 5.55 minutes; down from 6.58 minutes in February, according to J.D. Power.

Sprint announces major WiMax 4G expansion.

Sprint Nextel announced today the addition of 17 more markets to its growing list of U.S. cities covered by WiMax 4G. This is a major expansion for Sprint’s network which as of today is only in a handful of markets.

The new cities include: Abilene, Texas; Amarillo, Texas; Austin, Texas; Boise, Idaho; Bellingham, Wash.; Charlotte, N.C.;

Sprint Nextel agrees to pay $17.5 million to settle ETF lawsuit

Sprint Nextel has agreed to pay $17.5 million to settle a class-action lawsuit over early termination fees that originally claimed Sprint had charged $1.2 billion in illegal fees since 1999. The lawsuit was filed in November in the U.S. District Court of District of New Jersey days after Sprint said it would institute a new set of rules to pro-rate ETFs.
